A familiar silhouette coalesced from the periphery of her vision, prompting her to turn her head toward it, squinting to discern the identity of the approaching figure. A sigh of recognition involuntarily escaped her lips, and a relieved smile graced her face.

Seoah instinctively raised her hand in a friendly wave, a dual gesture serving as both a greeting and a means of catching the attention of her older cousin, Han Junseo. "Yah! Over here!" she exclaimed with a buoyant energy, a subtle indication of her eagerness to talk to him.

The elderly man, engrossed in his fishing activities, couldn't help but grumble disapprovingly at Seoah, breaking the tranquil ambiance. "Didn't I tell you it's rude to address your elders so informally?" he reproached, his words carrying a seasoned authority.

Undeterred, Seoah turned to face him, a slight pout forming as her lower lip jutted out in a display of playful defiance. "We're only a year apart. What's the big difference?" she retorted.

Returning her attention to her cousin, Seoah's countenance brightened once more, and she waved again with an animated enthusiasm. "We'll see about that. And no need to apologize! We all know how busy you are, so thanks for showing up regardless," she expressed, her words carrying a tone of genuine appreciation.

Taking purposeful steps toward the fishing poles, Seoah's demeanor shifted to one of mischief, and a sneaky grin played on her lips. "Though I have to confess, when you weren't here, I managed to glean some valuable pointers from gramps on how to catch more fish. So, if anyone's raking in the winnings today, it's going to be me!" she declared triumphantly, her confidence evident as she made her way to one end of the pier, ready to embark on the task of setting up her fishing line.

There wouldn't be any pesky kids (other than his own grandchildren) to bother him, nor would the sun beat down on his back like an annoying neighbor asking for ingredients. Seoah watched the spritely elder walk down the boardwalk with a very obvious spring in his step and found herself unable to refrain the bemused smile threatening to peek through her lips. This was the norm most weekends and it only became more frequent when it got cold. The grandchild was convinced that he would have the time of his life if he could ever go ice fishing in the arctic. He stops by the edge of the boardwalk and looks over at Seoah, barely a dent in his features despite streaks of white hair peaking from his beanie.

"Where's Junseo? Ya, didn't you tell him the time or did you forget." The man chides, squinting at Seoah before setting up his spot to fish.

She hands the bucket of bait over to him, sighing a little before shaking her head. "He'll be here soon halbae, your favorite grandchild is a busy man." She says, checking the time on her own phone. Maybe she should call him just to be sure, she wonders before her thoughts are cut off by her grandfather.

"Don't get sassy with me kid, I'm the one who decided your name! Anyways, I'm gonna fish on my own, you two have fun with the other fishing rods I got in my bag. Whoever catches the biggest one gets 50000 won from me." An eager grin pops up on the younger girls face, he didn't have to tell her twice. Now that she knew, Seoah picked up the rods and moved to an area where her grandfather was still in plain sight.

"Should I call him?" She mumbles again, taking out her phone again and staring at the screen.
