✦ What is petrification
Petrification in the RP is the process and act of turning one to stone, as what happened some 3000 years ago with the humans that inhabited the planet at the time. Currently, no one knows exactly who or what caused this to occur, but because of it, we have humans who are still petrified and encased in stone. Some have been freed and depetrified, but because the process of freeing them isn't exactly easy, not many are up and walking around.
✦ The effects of petrification
Those affected by the petrification appear to be physically turned to stone, and cannot move or see. As long as they can stay focused and conscious, their minds can persist and they can break free once the other conditions for depetrification are met, but most individuals do not maintain consciousness. Especially not for 3000+ years.
Only the body turns to stone, so clothing and other inorganic material will wither away with time. During this time, the body does not age. Its internal organ structure also remains the same.
Injuries of all types (excluding bad eyesight) can be healed through depetrification. Though, if the body receives superficial damage through weathering, it may leave black scars. If the body is damaged severely (i.e. broken) consciousness may be forcibly stopped and the petrified person will die if not correctly reassembled and revived/depetrified.

✦ Depetrification
Those afflicted by petrification can be depetrified (or revived) via two known methods: by maintaining consciousness through petrification and being in contact with nitric acid OR by using Revival Fluid—a mix of nitric acid and alcohol. It is also possible for a petrified individual to break free if they awake or their consciousness heightens.
Broken statue pieces can be depetrified but doing so will result in a "dead" body part, which is why it's important to carefully reassemble statues before reviving the individual inside. If a petrified human is reassembled properly, they will revive fully in-tact.
