“If you would all be so kind, please follow me.” The demon Prince placed his hands behind his back, leading the way through the cavern. Before you walked through the archway, a blinding red glow washed over you, temporarily distorting your vision. No longer were there candles lighting the gloomy dank tunnels. An enormous house, carved into a large tree, stood in their place. The sound of water cascaded over the tree, falling endlessly into a cloudy pit. Stone and dirt now transformed into beautiful ivory white and heather gray marble stairs leading to the front door. The space was filled from floor to ceiling with rows upon rows of books, scrolls, and ancient artifacts. Magic permeated the entire room, with the scent of ether adding to its enchanting atmosphere.
“Welcome to the athenaeum of Merlin.” He gestured with one hand as you all enter. The smell of moss morphed into the refreshing aroma of cedar wood, and the cheerful sound of a crackling fireplace wafted from inside the house. Upon entering the three-story tall athenaeum, you immediately feel an inexplicable shift in energy, as if you’ve crossed a barrier. After giving you a moment to enjoy the scenery, Inguk points to the luxurious dinner table placed in the middle. Before each seat sat a chalice with a golden name plate engraved with your laurel on it. “Please be seated. This is wine from the lands of Materia Highlands. It is yours to enjoy.” The demon stood at the head of the table. “Before we begin the second trial, I’d like to make a toast to you all and congratulate the TRUE winners of the first trial.” Servants pour each one of you a fresh glass of the finest bottle of fermented sage honey wine. “To you, champions!” He raised his glass, watching as each one of you sip from your chalice.
“Today, your challenge is simple. Your objective is to access the Vault of Merlin, the most abundant source of magical knowledge in Heleo." You feel the warmth of the liquid as it glides down your throat, coating your chest and heating you up. You try to move but your body refuses and you senses seem muted. Your body warms to trending the alcohol and the words of the Demon begin to muffle. His lips displayed a handsome smile as he tapped twice on the gleaming golden vault behind him. "One thing I know to be true about magic is the power of listening and reading instructions. I hope you took note of that concise history lesson because the wine you’re sipping is poisonous and I just told you how to locate the hidden vault combination that contains the antidote in this vast archive."
“Welcome to your second challenge.” The stainless glass windows allow the light of the triple blood moon to fill the archives, brightening the walls. “You are to select ONE other champion of your choosing to partner with to complete decoding the vault. The TOP TWO TEAMS with the MOST numbers decoded win access to the vault’s antidote, and earn the right to advance to the last trial. For the losing teams…Well, let’s just hope you make it to the healers in time. In addition, the TOP THREE decoders will be rewarded in gold. Now that you know what is at stake, the actual trials begin. You have from Oct 20th - Oct 27 PST Midnight. I wish you good fortune. Plasma Champions. Take your marks.
