✱ what is the general layout of the restaurant?
for the most part, slurping bowl is set up like a dining hall or food court with large tables usually meant to seat a large party. there are six total tables in the restaurant that seat 8 people each. additionally, the bar seats 16 people total. the restaurant has a maximum occupancy of 64.
✱ what are the daily specials?
the restaurant has a rotating chef system where the head chefs take turns crafting A NEW ramen of the day. the recipes are of their own creation that are not already on the menu, AND WILL ONLY BE MADE IN SMALL BATCHES.
* although the special rotates daily in canon, it will rotate weekly ooc.
** writers planning to take on the chef role must be relatively active (logging on a few times a week) and must submit their recipe (follow the menu for the general format) by friday.
✱ why can't we prepare backgrounds?
it's not that you can't prepare backgrounds; it's that you can't post one in your profile.
you are more than welcome to write up a full background for your characters and keep them elsewhere, however we ask you not to make them public to avoid pressuring other writers to make an extensive profile. we noticed that it has become a trend on rpr for writers to write profiles but seldom plots or connections, thus hindering the development of their characters. we hope that, by removing the requirement for a background, that writers can focus more on forming connections between their characters.
if you want to establish an old connection, however (i.e. exes, childhood friends, family, etc.), you are more than welcome to discuss tidbits of your backgrounds with your prospective writing partners in pms.
additionally, we want to challenge writers to allow their characters to develop over time. drop random lore in your plots, discuss it over a bowl of ramen with the person you just met that's sitting across from you. we implore you to discuss your characters through threads— figure out how they tick through conversation.
don't worry; if you need a place to keep track of your developments, we've provided one for you! just write a brief blurb in headcanons (ooc tab) and we'll note it down in the rp's padlet!
