@kailani IV. The silence enshrouding the laboratory isn't something that one can find comfort or serenity in. The walls appear as if they were to have eyes, observing everything happening within with great interest in their cold, bleak gazes, and the space itself, akin to a cage — unforgivingly lifeless and sparking life all the same with its grandiose machines and expensive-looking apparatuses, yet Seraphine is able to feel a hearth-like warmth instead. Perhaps, it’s from the odd familiarity she does not know of, but how can she not feel unwelcomed when a blessing she had never expected to come, made its merry way into her grasp? After all, getting appointed to serve for an ocean beastmen royalty is one too good of a proposition to not refuse.

And today marks her first day on the job.

The feathers on her head move in a gentle, gleeful flutter as she hums a tune — delicate, like a songbird’s hymn in the new beginnings of dawn, yet it doesn't carry a single sliver of tenderness. It’s eerie, gravelly in the way hints of mechanical whirring tail her tune, and it’s as cold as the metals her slender digits glide upon. She brushes away the thin layer of dust before turning around to the woman she deems her saviour.

“I didn’t know you had a knack for science, my lady. My previous clients were... boring.” Seraphine smiles, as synthetic and empty as the bionic eye she had found and picked off the clutter pooling by her feet. Putting it away, the maiden bows politely, perfectly, with one arm over her torso while the other ever-so-slightly hikes up the skirt of her dress. “It is my most humblest pleasure to serve you. If there is anything I can do for you now, I will adhere to your requests to the best of my abilities. I do not aim to disappoint.”
