@Jeon Jungkook (B) The bonfire was burning bright and high and even though the sun was long gone its heat still stayed during the night hours, the air dry and only every few minutes a relatively cool breeze passed by to help their hot bodies relax.
Luckily the commander of the squad, Jongsuk, had been smart enough to take his men to the beach after a hard training session – such days were the worst but also trained his men best. Surely most of them had complained but now, sitting around the bonfire, clothes wet from the cool sea water while eating hot potatoes or some nice grilled meat they all seemed to be satisfied. They would return late today and he’d let them sleep in, they all deserved a free day and a nice night with some great food and booze.
Jongsuk relaxed and took a sip from his beer, watching a young man who had just recently entered their camp. He looked exhausted just like everyone else – Jongsuk had to admit it had exhausted him as well but he was the commander, not showing the exhaustion was one of his best skills – but he still looked rather relaxed and fit.
“You are Jungkook, aren’t you?” Jongsuk asked, deciding that he needed to start a conversation with the boy. He wanted to know all his men. He was their commander after all and he wanted them to trust him inside out. “You did well, almost better than one of the most experienced men here.”
He offered the other a beer and some grilled meat. “I hope I didn’t go to hard an all of you.” He smiled slightly and took a bite from his food. It was a nice night and even though it was still hot Jongsuk enjoyed having some free time with his squad, being able to listen to their worries and complaints.
Recently it had been surprisingly calm but after the great ambush of the bandits and pirates he was worried that this was the calm before the storm. He couldn’t go easy on his men, after all they needed to be ready at any time. Surely, many weren’t happy with it but they still understood his worries. And he was very thankful for it.
