@♘ ⓒ jung daehyun "If you were to ask my opinion, I think Hufflepuff is the most amazing of all houses and people need to start and realize that." Scarlett told him in a gentle yet firm tone of voice, portraying that she truly believed what she was saying. And honestly why should she not? sure most of the people she knew always wanted to be put into Gryffindoor as it used to house Harry Potter, but most people in that house were foolhardy and show-offs. They often times are brash and quick to judge. Hufflepuffs though, were mostly very accepting, just and loyal people. People that worked hard to strive in their chosen field, never would abandon one of their own and fiercely protective over those they cared. Not to mention the amazing parties that were often thrown in their common room. The room being right next to the kitchen sure had it's perks.
"I think you are amazing at whatever you put your mind on. And I believe you will be able to reach all your goals, whatever they may be."
@scarlett leithold A delighted laugh bubbled from his mouth in response to her compliment, but he waved his hand in dismissal. "God, no. I'm not the brave type, not in the slightest. Magical creatures are sort of the exception, I'd say. I just really like to meet one, because... well, they're just really beautiful creatures. Even if they're not the most friendly," he added with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. "And I want to learn more about dragons, and everything else too. Mr. Scamander's books and adventures are really fascinating to me, even though it's not really something that a lot of people look highly on."
Daehyun was about to continue talking about magical creatures, but Lettie's words caused him to shrink slightly, an apologetic look flashing across his normally cheerful face. "Oh... I didn't mean it that way, not at all! I'm terribly sorry." He let out a frustrated sigh; why did his mouth always have to move quicker than his brain? It always got him into all kinds of trouble, and this time was no different. "I only meant to belittle myself, I promise I think everyone here is brilliant. I meant that I am what everyone thinks of as the stereotypical Hufflepuff, even though that's not what most Hufflepuffs are like at all! I know I'm sort of dumb, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise." He offered her a timid smile, though this time he doubted that she'd return it. "All I'm good for is cooing over animals and flying around on a broomstick, and that's fine. That's what I'm good at. But I really love to see everyone else in this house flourish at what they do."
@♘ ⓒ jung daehyun Lettie looked owlishly at the boy in front of her, Not sure if she could believe her ears. Did he really just ask about facing dragons with dare she say excitement in his voice? How could any of that be even the slightest of bits exciting? It was horrible, life threatening and dangerous. If you were not careful while handling dragons you could die! Why else would have one to undergo a rigorous training when becoming a dragon tamer? But maybe the male in front of her simply had too much of a Gryffindor spirit within him. Then no matter what house the sorting hat put you, Scar believed that everyone had a bit of all four houses in him- or herself.
"I admire your courage and desire in wanting to face a dragon, but I don't recommend it. But then again, to each his own."
Humming she listened to the rest that he had to say and nodded. "Bowtruckles are quiet adorable. I have been in love with them ever since reading the books of Newt Scamander. I am just happy his descendant has decided to continue his legacy. And you are quiet right, I believe, in how one should handle all those animals. Magical or otherwise." Lettie agreed with him.
Hearing the next sentence angered her though. Even more so then all the talk about the tournament. Hufflepuffs were not stupid. She hated the fact that in most peoples opinions they were just the sidecasts. The one no one wanted with no real purpose. The left overs. It was simply not true. Many great people had come from the house of Helga Hufflepuff. There was for example Bridget Wenlock. A witch famous for her knowledge in Arithmancy. It was also her that discovered the great magical significance of the number seven. Then there was Newt Scamander himself. Author of the book "Magical Beasts and where to find them.". Cedrig Diggory, one of the Hogwarts Champions, Seeker of the House team and one of the first known sacrifices in the last war. And of course the famous Auror Nymphadora Tonks. There even was a former Minister of Magic sprouting from the house and many, many more. So hearing that someone actually dared to call themselves your typical dumb Hufflepuff irritated her to no end.
"Please, never ever repeat that one sentence because if I know one thing for certain, Hufflepuffs are not stupid. Though it's nice to meet you Daehyun."
@scarlett leithold Daehyun had zoned out for a moment, but when he heard a certain word escape the other girl's lips, his head immediately popped up again, his eyes shining with excitement. "Oh-- really? Do you really think we'd get to face dragons? I've always loved dragons!" He shifted slightly, sitting on the edge of the couch and prattling on despite Lettie's disbelieving and scornful expression. "I mean I've never met one, but I'd really like to. I've always had a thing for magical creatures. Honestly my favorite is the Bowtruckle, but I'm sure I'd love dragons too! Maybe if I told a dragon that I don't intend to hurt it, they would listen." He smiled, but after a moment his expression grew more serious. "But to be honest, I think that if you let a creature know that you respect it and mean it no harm, it won't hurt you. Not intentionally, at least. The trick is that with each creature, you have to tell it that in a different way."
The serious look disappeared from his eyes in a split second, the cheerful smile back on his face in all of its former glory. "Yeah, you're probably right. It's not really a secret here that I'm your stereotypical dumb Hufflepuff. I do try my best, though!" Daehyun extended a hand politely, enjoying the sparkle in the girl's eyes. He's glad that she can indeed smile. "It's nice to meet you! I'm Jung Dae--" He cut himself off, remembering how different names are expressed in Great Britain. "--Daehyun. Daehyun Jung," he corrected himself.
@♘ ⓒ jung daehyun "No need to be sorry. I have that affect on... the male species." Lettie let him know with a soft sigh and a shake of her head. She had grown up with it. Even as a small child males reacted to her presence, thought most of the time their attention was wavered by the presence of her mother or grandmother. Or the angry looks of her male relatives, especially the look her father would give them. Being part Veela was always more of a cure rather then a blessing in her eyes. But it gave her an excuse for being mean, insulting or a downright . After all, that was what most people expected her to be like. A stuck up and spoiled girl with no care for anyone but herself.
"Nothing can go wrong?" She questioned and stared at him disbelievingly. "So if you were to face dragons you would tell them beforehand that they are not allowed to hurt you and you believe they will actually listen?" at that she snorted and shook her head. It seemed the young man infront of her was rather innocent if not a bit naive. But she would let him. He had a right to believe whatever he wished to believe. And he probably was right and people were scared and just pushed away those fears with focusing on all the positive events the tournament brings along rather then the negatives.
"Ahhh so you are utterly useless here. I should have know." Lettie joked, her eyes sparkling with mirth as she looked at him. "By the way, I am Scarlett Leithold, nice to meet you."
@scarlett leithold Daehyun cringed slightly at the withering look she gave his friends. They meant well, of course, but they definitely weren't the most serious of students. Neither was he, for that matter. "I'm terribly sorry about them," he offered in a sincere tone, his eyes crinkling up into smiling crescents. "Anyway, I guess no one wants to think about how dangerous the tournament could be. But anyway, it's been ages since that last tournament, and since there's no Dark Wizard around, there's no way that anything can go wrong!" He truly believed it, even though it's a bit of a naive thing to think. "That's why I entered. But it's just for the fun of it, you know? Fame is overrated. But I'm sorry for bringing that kind of thing up, if you don't want to talk about it."
He straightened his posture slightly so that he could watch your progress, returning Scarlett's half-hearted smile with a cheerful grin. "Oh, no... it's been a long time since that assignment. I think I faked half of it, too..."
@♘ ⓒ jung daehyun Scarlett blinked her eyes slowly open, turning her head slightly to look at the rather handsome face of a male. A fellow housemate whos name she had heard mention several times since attending the school and whos face she had seen here or there, but still never had any really contact with. Not that she had any real contact with anyone of the opposite gender anyways. She had no need for that. She glanced behind him, seeing a group of people a few feet behind him stealing glances at them and giggling. Narrowing her eyes in annoyance she raised one of her perfectly shaped brows at them, before she returned her attention to the male. "I am fine. Just annoyed by all the talking about the upcoming tournament. As if it was anything to truly look forward to. The last time it was held at this very school one of our own died after all. But it seems to me people simply forgot that and just decided to look forward to a stupid ball, the victory, fame and money entering something like that could bring you." She sighed and shook her head. Then she grabbed her things and started to spread her notes and books out, preparing herself to finish the rest of her homework. She had to get it all down at one point or another after all.
Glancing curiously, albeit a bit vary, at the male beside her she offered him a half-smile. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about the third great Goblin war, would you?"
@scarlett leithold Daehyun had been laughing with his friends at one of the tables in the Hufflepuff common room. A few hours earlier, he'd been in Charms class, and one of the younger students had bet him two Sickles that he wouldn't enter the tournament. Of course, he had to comply. He hadn't been about to lose two Sickles, his family not being the wealthiest, and anyway the odds of him being the Hufflepuff champion was very slim. After all, there were so many worthy Hufflepuff candidates! His eyes flitted around the room, and he was glad to see so many others enjoying themselves. There was a younger girl over by the couch, though, slumped against the back.
After a moment he stood up and excused himself, the smile still wide on his face. Daehyun wasn't completely sure about whether the girl was tired, sick of the conversion, or just over-stressed, but nevertheless he soon plopped down next to her, turning his head. "Hey, there," he offered brightly, his tone casual and cheerful. "You doing okay?" Over at the tables, his friends stole glances at them and giggled loudly. Daehyun silenced them with a stern look. He wasn't the type to pick up girls. Hell, he didn't have the ual orientation for that.
@♘ ⓒ jung daehyun Scarlett was seated in the middle of the Huffelpuff common room trying to the her homework, surrounded by all the other Puffs, which were chattering in excitement about the upcoming Triwizard Tournament which would be held once again here at Hogwarts. Many talked about the past Tournaments. The dangers, the excitement, the glamour, wonders and horrors of it all. It was annoying and Letti simply couldn't concentrate on her homework. With a angry huff she grabbed her things and got up from her place, making her way over to the far back of the room to a quiet corner, where she knew no one would disrupt her.
She threw her back on the empty couch and then set down, letting herself sink into the soft cushion and relax for a moment, blending all the noise out and closing her eyes for a second.
Can Calvin have a one month hiatus? I'm pretty much just going through alot of stuff and can't emotionally handle this right now. Like, I've literally lost the will to live, to be honest.
