HERA (Hangul: 헤라) is a South Korean girl group created by Sapphire Entertainment. The group consists of four members (formerly five) Nikki, Gain, Aoya and Raven.
Career
2002-2007: GENUINE debut & disbandment, HERA debut & Star's departure
Like ZEUS, the members of HERA were originally a part of coed group named GENUINE. The group released three singles before disbanding in 2003. The four female members, Nikki, Star, Hanna and Raven were joined by a female trainee Ga-in and debuted in 2006 with the single 'Twinkle Twinkle'. In January of 2007, it was revealed that member Star would be leaving the group for health reasons. This would later cause a controversy as later that year Star would redebut as the leader of Goddess.
2007-2009: Japanese debut, Aoya added, Hanna's departure & Nikki's Solo debut
New member Aoya was added to the group for their comeback and Japanese debut in 2007, after which Sapphire released a statment that member Hanna would be leaving HERA and the group would be continuing as a four member group. On January 12, 2009, Nikki released her first solo single 'Get It In' which was later followed up with 'Taxi'. In March of that year, HERA collaborated with labelmates ZEUS for the single 'Lollipop' marking their return as a four member group. With little to no promotions done for the song, HERA made their official return in April with the songs 'I Don't Care' and 'Fire'.
2010-2014: Global Recognition, US debut & SapphireFam Tour
The release of their song 'I Am The Best' would see the response of global fame for HERA. Seizing the opportunity, the group released a full english album and toured the US opening for different groups with their song 'DNA'. After a comeback in Korea, the group would embark on a tour with the rest of the artists under the company for the first ever company concert tour. That tour would be the first time HERA would be on the same stage as former members Star and Hanna who performed their old songs with them.
2015-Present: First World Tour, Gain solo debut & project groups
February 20, 2015 was the first date of HERA's first world tour, titled 'Run The World' that ended in September on that year. Member Gain would have her solo debut on March 28, 2016 with the song 'Apple' featuring ZEUS' DK having a comeback a few months later with the song Bloom. Raven, Star and -- were confirmed in early 2017 to become a coed project group. They debuted on February 22, 2017 with the song Knock.
