GODDESS (Hangul: 여신) is a South Korean girl group created by Sapphire Entertainment. The group consists of seven (formerly nine) active members,  HyeMi, Sun, --, --, --, -- and --. 

Career

2008-2010: Debut, Star's acting debut & Tina's solo debut

On February 17, 2008, members started to be revealed starting with members Tina and Sun. Former HERA member Star was releaved as the next member of GODDESS as well as the group's leader. This upset fans of HERA and netizens at first since the reason for the member's departure was due to health. However, the group officially debuted on April 2, 2008 with the song 'Into The New World'. In 2009, Tina would be the first member to have a solo debut in Japan. A year later, she would have her first korean solo debut while Star would have her acting debut.

2011-13: Japanese debut, -- solo debut & First subunit 'SnM'

On September 2nd, 2011 GODDESS released two Japanese singles, 'Flower Power' and 'Divine' marking their debut in the Japanese market. They released a Japanese mini album a few weeks later that would include Japanese versions of previously released songs. in 2012, -- would have her first solo debut with the single, ''. In 2013, Sapphire Entertainment revealed GODDESS' first subunit would be comprised of twin sisters, HyeMi and Sun. They released their single, 'Hair Short' on May 16, 2013.

2014-2016: Tina departure & return as eight members

After the release of two singles, 'Shampoo' and  'I Got A Boy', Saphhire releaved in a press conference that member Tina would be going on hiatus while she finished her studies at NYU. However, a few months later, netizens and fans noticed Tina's name and profile had been removed from the official members list on their website. Sapphire's official statement was, "We believe it is in the best interest of Tina and GODDESS for the group to continue promoting as eight members until Tina completes her studies." However upon her return, Tina has only promoted as a solo artist while GODDESS continues to promote as an eight member group. The group released the songs "You Think' and 'Flashback' as eight members.

2017-present: Star departure and Goddess hiatus

At the beginning of 2017, Sapphire finally released an official statment regarding Tina's departure from the group. "As Tina has outgrown the age range for Goddess, she along with the current leader of Goddess Star will be leaving the group." Shortly after Goddess released their documentary Rise of Goddess, that showed their journey from formation until now. They also released two songs called All Night and Holiday as a thank you and goodbye to their fans before going on hiatus. As of 2018 there are 7 active members of Goddess though no comebacks have been confirmed yet.
