Pulse is a South Korean girl group under Urban Entertainment. The group is made of four members: Hwasa, Moonbyul, Min, and Aria. They debuted on March 24, 2017 with the release of a double title track 'Come Back Home' and 'Touch'. Their official fandom name is Heartbeat and official color is blood red.
Career
Pre-debut
Before debuting with Pulse, Aria was a member of U2AG, a short-lived girl group that eventually disbanded before debuting, and before she joined with Pulse.
Fun trivia is she comes from a very wealthy family and enjoys classical music as well as hip hop and R&B. She can play the piano and drums. Aria loves strawberries in every form, especially strawberry candy.
Hwasa was well known in the underground scene by her English name, Hanna, as a rapper and a vocalist before being scouted by NONA9ON Entertainment. She trained there for a few months before transferring to Urban Entertainment. She was born in California, USA but spent most of her life in Osaka, Japan. She has two older sisters, Sukyung who is the CEO of Sapphire Entertainment and Hyojin, and one younger sister, Hyeran who is also known as Au.tumn from girl group IIIage. Hwasa was also well known for providing back vocals and track guides for girl groups and female artists. She goes by her Japanese name, Yumi, when making songs. Her cousin is HyunA, whom she also performed with in their underground days as well as a track guide for some of Hyuna's old group songs including her first solo song, Change.
Eve was scouted after being found dancing in the streets by Starlight Entertainment. She further applied to three entertainment companies, NONA9ON, Sapphire and Starlight, though in the end decided to side with the company that scouted her. From then she joined a survival program called "First Class" where she had predebut promotions and adopted the stage name Eve (from the greek muse of music and lyric poetry Eutherpe). Her career continued as she was added to her first four member group, S4U (later changed to 5tars), as the fifth member, stirring controversy amongst netizens. During a world tour, the CEO of Starlight resigned, disbanding all groups, leaving Eve a free agent. She left the group to follow her sister, who stepped down as Urban CEO to create W1SH Entertainment.
Pre-debut Moonbyul started out as a back dancer for various artists, before training to become a legit member and being added to Pulse as the Main Rapper.
March 2017: debut with Come Back Home & Touch
Pulse made their debut with the double title album 'Into Your Heart' on March 24, 2017. They were praised for their astounding vocals and mature concept, a breath of fresh air to the industry being dominated by innocent images. The album was recorded with the original lineup (Hwasa, Moonbyul, Eve and Jiho). Criticism arose as Jiho left the group in the early stages of the promotions and was replaced by Aria. Despite the lashback, they followed up with the repackaged album 'You Feel That' which featured a song written by Moonbyul, receiving enormous amounts of praise and recognition from the public. Moonbyul's self composed song Cat Fight was later used as the soundtrack for the monononymous reality show for girl trinees of Urban "Rookies: Cat Fight".
Despite the lineup change during their debut Pulse managed to maintain a strong image and infiltrate the hearts of Koreans and international fans everywhere, growing to be one of the most respected groups in the industry, now recognized as seniors.
August 2017 - Present: Eve Departure, Company changes and disbandment.
Just five months after their debut, Pulse went through yet another lineup change. Urban CEO Ella Kim, resigned from the company and went on to create a seperate label, her sister Eve following her along with many Urban trainees and even Zeta trainees. With Urban and Zeta merging to create Phoenix Entertainment under new CEO Boa Kwon, new member Min was added to Pulse. Shortly after, Phoenix would dissolve as a company and the group would be taken under Sapphire Entertainment with only Moonbyul and Hwasa making a new contract and members Min and Aria leaving the group and company. It wasn't long after that Sapphire Entertainment released an official statement regarding Pulse's official disbandment.
