THE LIGHT AND DARK
T
wo males that were born with identical features. this was a surprising phenamenon in itself as there were no twins before these two males. their physical appearance were the same, and the way they act - their mannerisims - were the same as well. no one knew whether or not it was a blessing or curse, considering that it was extremely difficult to know who was who. there was nothing that could tell them apart. not a mole, not a scar, not a single blemish. this is how it was for the first part of their life.
as they grew older, these two males became inseperable. joined at the hip, as one would call it. if one had to go off somewhere, the other would follow willingly. if one was injured, the other would inflict the same injury in the same place despite the immense pain it brought. there was a reason for this uniformity. a reason that both males decided to keep close in secret, no matter how dangerous it was, no matter how costly it may be with their own lives. they couldn't be seperated, and if one were to go astray, then there would be chaos, not only in themselves, but to those around them. it was for the greater good.
As they became young adults, they were free to go off about their own ways. however, the twins remained -- inseperable. now that they were on their own, the twins were able to roam freely, but together. unfortunately, the repitive "uniformity" the two had to keep them safe was slowly crumbling down as one of the males began to show signs of irritation and urges to do whatever they wanted without the other following closely behind. this was not an option. but one of the twins had done the opposite anway. instead of having the twin follow closely behind, this twin set out on small adventures, only to be attacked by natures' children. a fox, a mountain lion, a snake, a flood, you name it. all, however, conquered with ease by the twin who went astray and who went behind his other twin's back. the twin who stayed behind was furious, but most of all, afraid that he may never see his twin brother again. but he would.
within the years that followed, the twin that had stayed behind had grown older. his hair became gray, his beared had grown out to his chest. his eyes looked tired and sad, and he sat on a stone every sunset in hopes that he would see his beloved brother return from beyond the hills where he lived. a day before his passing, a miracle had occured and the brother who went astray had come back. it was what the twin who stayed behind had expected. his brother didnt have gray hair like he did, or a long beared to his chest. nor was his eyes tired and sad like his own. in fact, the twin who had gone astray looked exactly how he looked when he ran away. young. supple. full of life, as if he had found the fountain of youth, but they both knew that it wasn't the case. you see, a little ways after the twins were born, one of the twins was not exactly like the other you'd expect. instead of craving food like his normal twin, this twin craved blood, human blood.whenever it was a full moon, this twin would transform into one satan's minons from hell. sharp teeth, blaring red eyes and nails tht could easily peirce the skin of an animal or a human. because of this, it became a life long secret between the two twins. even though his twin accepted for what he was, no one else would accept as easily as he did. so they kept in hiding, away from public eye, away from large populations and into the hills where the normal twin lived all his life.
on his death bed, the normal twin wondered what his strange twin had done throughout his lifetime. although the answer was simple, he felt there was something more sinister behind it. after the normal twin had passed away of old age, the strange twin had gone back to where he was before. even though he promised his normal twin he had done nothing but remain in solitude all to himself was nothing but a lie. A lie that covered up hundreds of deaths, and over dozens of people the strange twin had turn into just like him. it was all out of lonliness, out of anger for the way he was, and depression due to the fact that he had left his twin brother behind because of his own pain and selfishness. back then, no one knew what he was, but in today's terms, he would be known as a vampire. the first vampire to ever roam the earth.
