@ᴋʀɪsᴛɪɴᴇ ғʀᴏsᴇᴛʜ ʰ "that meeting went so well, jungkook. we really did it this time. i think we got the spot." there's an idiotically big grin on his face, his hand raising so that it could high five hers. "we couldn't have gotten this far without you, shay. thank you for all of your hard work -- if we do land the spot, you can expect a raise." his fingers lace with hers and he's playfully shaking their hands, still grinning. "alright, now get on home. i'll clean up. good job today." after bidding her goodnight, the male leans back in the leather chair, arms propped upon the arm rests with his fingertips pressing together in front of his chin. there's a giddy feeling in his stomach as his head leans back, and he exhales a deep breath. finally. finally, things were /really/ looking up. life was looking up, his company was progressing. it was all good. finally.
"you did it this time. kudos to you." he murmurs to himself once more, offering himself a pat on the back with a small chuckle. it didn't take him long to clean up the office space, his suit coat hanging from his forefinger and his middle finger over his shoulder as he makes his way out. "goodnight, sir." he nods in the employees direction, bidding everyone else a good night before making his way home. boy oh boy, was he going to sleep well tonight. "yeah, hi -- can i get three double cheeseburgers? one as a meal, yeah, large coke. oh, can the burgers be plain? yep, that's right. thank you." what could he say? sometimes you've gotta treat yourself, right? "thank you, have a good night." he reaches out to take his order from the mcdonalds employee, setting it in the passenger seat before driving off.
once he's finally in his apartment, he takes a seat on the couch and sets the food ahead of him. "wow, you're beautiful." he murmurs to the food, all before he begins scarfing it down. sure, it didn't fill him up /at all/ and did absolutely nothing to him, but it was delicious. "i wonder what's on." he says to himself in a sing-song voice, reaching out for the remote so that he can flip the large tv on. his elbows are propped upon his knees, one hand flipping through the channels with the other occupied by one of his burgers that he's nibbling from. it didn't seem like anything particularly interesting was on. he settled with the news, even though it seemed like it was the same old stuff every other night. jungkook sets the remote down, grabs the soda and leans back on the couch. "hey, that's the officer dude from the other night." he notes to himself. then he hears it. "what happened in the woods and to Park Ranger, Kristine Froseth, it's difficult to know if he's alive or not." he pauses, and he stares at the tv. ". , ." right now, he wasn't thinking about all the bad things she'd done. she was too young to die, she had a whole life to fix her mistakes -- he'd never gotten up from his couch so fast.
he reaches for his phone and dials a number that he hadn't in years, soon pressing the device to his ear. it rings, and he's anxiously grabbing his keys and heading out the door. "jack, i need your help. i need you to meet me at the woods, fifteen minutes from my apartment. bring your equipment. now." who was jack? well, we could get into that a little later. let's just say -- jungkook really /wasn't/ a killer, he couldn't do it, to anybody. jack on the other hand, was someone who'd jungkook had taken under his wings, roughly 400 and something years ago. he didn't mind the killing part, with strict circumstances. only the evil would be killed, kind of like a modern day (vampiristic) dexter. the male climbs into his car and dials his assistant, tires screeching as he speeds out of the parking garage. "i need you to clear my schedule for the next two days, or so." it's all he says before hanging up. he knew what he needed to do.
jungkook practically jumps out of his car after he roughly pulls the car onto the grassy area. he could see the outline of a familiar shadow awaiting him a few feet deep into the woods, and before you know it, he's right by his side. "it's a long story, but i'm sure i know what's going on." first stop: kristine's cabin. it wouldn't be easy getting what he needed, well, jack needed, with all of the police around. but he had a plan. "stay here." he instructs the other male before beginning his way to the porch of the cabin. "i'm sorry sir, but this is closed off." one of the officers instructs him, and he nods. "yes sir, i just left something here the other night. it should just be out here on the porch." lies. "any news?" always make small talk, they won't suspect a thing. the officer begins to fill him in with what they know, and that gives jungkook enough time to pick up the scent of how many vampires had been here -- roughly their height, and there had to be something.... his fingertips dance against the broken wood of the porch floor, before.. aha. a whole shoe lace, that didn't smell like her at all. jungkook straightens up immediately, reaching out to pat the officers arm. "please do let me know if you need my help. i shall get going."
he calmly steps away and makes his way back towards jack, setting the shoe lace into his hands. "this is one of theirs. there's three of 'em, roughly 5' 10 to 6'0 each. go on." the younger nods before hurrying off, and jungkook does the same. next stop: crime scene. he could smell it from here, and it wasn't far. maybe a five minute walk? there were officers there too, and this time, he didn't make himself present. he just needed a heavier scent, he could find her from that. so then he's off, running frantically through the woods as fast as he could. he wasn't even thinking, at this point, his body was just following it's instincts. he comes to an abrupt halt when he arrives right at the spot that he'd been awoken (roughly) from just the day before. jungkook begins walking forwards, she's there, somewhere. the scent was heavy, enough to make him sick. but his red gaze was looking studying each centimeter of this spot until --
"kristine?"
he calls out to the figure on the ground, hurrying to join it by its side. it was her and god, she didn't look good. there was blood everywhere, her clothes were torn apart. "," he curses under his breath: three bites. oh god, this wasn't good. , he didn't know where to start. she's the one that was good at this, not him. his fingers are cupping her cheeks, lifting her head (as gently as he could) so that he could get close enough to hear her. "hey hey -- kristine, you need to keep your eyes open, okay? i'm gonna get you help, you're going to be just fine. but you need to help me too, okay? keep your eyes open." okay, 'think of crime shows, all of the criminal minds that you've watched', he murmurs under his breath. that's it, he needed to cut off the circulation. "stop the bleeding." he whispers, and his fingers are trembling. but with what?
his fingers fumble as they remove his belt, and he's reaching over to begin tightening it around her thigh, just above the bite. "it's going to hurt, i'm so sorry." he whispers, and when he decides that it's tight enough, he's removing his shirt and ripping it up, soon tightly tying it above her wrist. but he couldn't tie her neck, that was just -- no. "kristine. stay with me." 'just like the towel' he murmurs beneath his breath, bunching his shirt up before pressing it against the wound on her neck. he had to get her to the hospital, he knew how long it took for the ambulance to get their last time, and they didn't have time to wait. he had speed, and he would use it. the last thing on his mind was his image, he wasn't thinking about anything else. "hold onto me, you're going to be okay. we'll be at the hospital in no time. stay with me." he kept repeating it, she wasn't doing well. she was in and out of consciousness, he could hear her heart faltering. "you're not going to die, i've got you."
so he begins running, and the two are practically at the hospital within a split second.
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ That following night, Kristine had trouble going on with her day. She moved around the house, first sitting on the couch, hugging her knees, then the floor. She then moved to her bedroom where she at at the end of her bed and then finally laid upon it. Closing her eyes was the scariest part because she knew that those nightmares where just waiting for her to do so. She refused. She refused to sleep, but she also refused to get help. This wasn't something that you could got to a counselor and say, "hey, listen, i buried people, and i'm not okay." because only then they would through her into the crazy house. She wasn't crazy she was just...ridden with guilt.
Kristine heard footsteps moving around her porch and sighed heavily when she knew what it was. This was her chance to put her foot down and say no to these heinous, hellish favors she had done for these vampires. No more. She didn't want to do it anymore. Her steps were heavy and sluggish, but when she reached the door, she took a deep breath and opened it. There, she was faced to face with three vampires the night before, two more bodies in their position. The sight made her physically sick and when she heard the words, "Let's get going.", she shook her head hesitatingly and mumbled. "No." The vampires raised their brows and looked at each other before looking down at her, their facing falling into pure anger. "What?" one of them gritted their teeth and Kristine looked at them, practically pleading them with her eyes. She shook her head slowly and chuckled almost weakly. "I don't want to help you anymore. I can't do this anymore. I'm not a monster and I don't want to be on the same level as you." she explained but attempted to close the door. The foot of one of the vampires stopped her from closing it and her shoulders fell.
"If you refuse, then our contract breaks. Therefore, you join with the dead too."
"But we'd like to make a game out of it." The other said as their eyes began to turn a bright, fiery red, their fangs emerging from their gums. She'd never seen them like this before, they were usually calm and stoic, but seeing them like this up close was way more scarier than she imagined. Sure, she was ready to face the consequences, ready to end it all, as long as she no longer could experience those nightmares, she was fine with death. Instead, she was cowering in fear. "Like cat and mouse." the third chimed in and his lips. Before she could say anything, the leader began to count backwards.
"10...9...8...7--"
Almost instantly, she reacted by pushing them out of the way and darted out of her cabin. She ran as fast as she could through the bushes and trees, scraping herself along the way, but she didn't care. Scratches and scrapes was better than being mauled by these monsters. However, for a moment she stopped and laughed to herself. "I'm the monster. Those people never got the chance to 'run away'. What am I doing?" she thought this to herself and heard a few twigs snap from behind her. Kristine whipped around and her gaze fell on the three vampires who were cackling under her breath. "Did we ever mention that the vampires usually win?" Kristine's eyes filled with tears and watched as they both flew at her with their fangs and claws. Her screams filled the woods and all went silent, even the small insects that chirped moment before. Everything was still and quiet.
The next day, during the evening, TV stations began to report on the attack of a young girl who happened to be the park ranger of the wooded park. Officer Lee was the first to be interviewed and he looked pale and ghastly. "Officer Lee is here with us today; Officer Lee, what can you tell us about this bloody, gruesome attack on the Park Ranger here at the park?" the interviewee asked and the officer seemed spaced out, almost disturbed before looking at her and stuttered. "W-well, the details will not be made to the public, but what happened in the woods and to Park Ranger, Kristine Froseth, it's difficult to know if she's alive or not. Her body has yet to be found and if I were to assume, she may not make it in the next few hours considering the amount of blood we found at the crime scene. Thank you."
"Thank you, Officer Lee. This was Monica Choi, and i'll be back to you for any updates."
@ᴋʀɪsᴛɪɴᴇ ғʀᴏsᴇᴛʜ ʰ "hey, watch it. you don't know me, or anything about me."
the male huffs as he turns his back to the girl, he couldn't believe she really had the balls to bring up what he 'didn't understand'. no one understood it better than him, he knew exactly what she was talking about. but that was no excuse. there are things that differ from right from wrong, /especially/ when it comes to these kinds of things. when it comes to dead or missing people. no wonder there have been more and more missing cases these past few weeks. it was all beginning to make sense. thank god he was getting away from these woods, which he mentally noted to never return to. ever.
he regrets leaving during the day though, because now he's gotta walk through the city in worn down clothes and -- he looked like he was taking a part in the infamous walk of shame. . people were going to see him like this and question him immediately. but instead of the crowd beginning to surround him asking him about why he was wearing such a thing (as he expected), they begin questioning about the events that had taken place last night. "sir, did you find her?" "can you explain the series of events?" "why does she want to remain anonymous?" he wasn't in the mood for all of this, not today. he hangs his head low and makes his way through the crowd, and thank god they're not allowed upon the property of his apartment complex. "hello mr. jeon, did you have a good vaca -" "aren't you supposed to be on break?" jungkook halts as he looks at his assistant, soon releasing a light sigh and shaking his head. "forget it, go home okay? spend the next few nights with your wife. i know she's due soon. can't risk missing that." "oh -- thank you, sir."
jungkook just nods, no longer saying anything else as he gets into the elevator. god, he needed to shower. why did he pick camping in the first place? so it was true, that he wouldn't be able to survive in the wild. even the thought made him cringe. he's in his apartment shortly after, dropping his bag into the laundry room before immediately making his way towards his bathroom so that he can take a shower.
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ The more she continued to walk, the more he continued to talk and honestly, it irritated her. She rolled her eyes not only once, not only twice but three times in between sentences that he made. "Yeah, I really should've because now you're just getting onto my nerves, if anything." She said aloud but was no longer shouting as she continued to trudge through he muddy ground. She stopped though, almost instantly as he continued to talk.
"what are you gonna do, bury these ones while you're at it?"
"What?" Kristine said in a genuinely confused tone, turning around to look at the other with a raised brow.
"or do you just like to bury the ones that can't say goodbye to their parents, so that their family will spend the rest of their lives taking whatever lead they can to find their kid, with every bit of hope in them that they have in them to find them?"
That was it. Her blood had run cold from his small speech of a reality check. She could feel her skin getting colder and could feel her blood turning thin. Kristine tried her best in trying not to freak out or hyperventilate, but the fact that he caught on, or knew -- in fact -- eavesdropped on her conversation with the vampires last night felt equivalent to the whole world knowing. His words dug deep into her skin and as he stood in front of her, she couldn't help but look into his own instead of looking away. It wasn't because she had pride in herself for doing such things, but because she knew what she was doing was wrong, and she had no idea how to get out of it other than being slaughtered for being an accessory. Maybe that's all it took.
When he was done, she shifted her eyes and looked away and watched his form distance away from her. He was right. She was despicable, she was disgusting, she was everything negative and more but she wasn't as heartless as she looked or seemed. She never killed those people, granted, she helped bury them, but she never killed them. Not a single one. "You don't know what it's like," she spoke after him, a knot forming in that slowly became painful. "You don't know what it's like to be forced to do something you're not allowed to do. You don't know what it's like when your life is constantly being threatened night after night. You don't know what it's like to see the face of those who were killed every night and have trouble sleeping or even go through the day without hallucinating and seeing their faces everywhere else. So before you dig your fangs into something that's already been damaged or dead, how about you take the time to actually know how the person truly feels first before assuming. Yeah?" her voice became airy and almost incoherent. Now she wasn't in the mood to continue on with her job shift.
Instead of forcing him to understand, she turned in the opposite direction and caught sight of her group. With a sad, forceful smile, she clasped her hands together and apologized to those who came and decided to end the trail guide there. Everyone was pretty understanding which was easy on her part, and guided them all the way back to the parking lot where their cars were. "Thank you for coming today everyone. Unfortunate, it rained too much that the ground had become to muddy and the nearby lake was slowly rising. I didn't want to risk it. I hope you all enjoyed the rest of the trail though, it was a pleasure guiding you all." with that, she bid farewell to her group and headed on back to her cabin.
Before she could walk in, she stopped at the front door and sighed, resting her forehead against the wood. She remembered that the blood splattered table was still in there, and she didn't need anything else to remind her of how much of a monster she already was. She saved one life, but one life wasn't going to erase or change anything. Instead, Kristine slowly walked backward and then turned to take a few steps down and sat on the stairs. The overhang above was enough to keep her dry from the now pouring rain and slowly she mentally went into a place that was hard to get out of.
@ᴋʀɪsᴛɪɴᴇ ғʀᴏsᴇᴛʜ ʰ god, she was too loud. it was too early -- way way way too early for all of this shouting, why did she have to be so loud? jungkook stays still as he stares at the girl, and soon there's a light look of amusement soon apparent upon his features. especially as she begins to call him names, as she shoves the hammock into his hands and gives him a fact check about the trees. "didn't know that." he admits, shrugging his shoulders upwards. it was interesting to know though, especially interesting because the tree was only fifteen years older than him. but obviously, she didn't know that. "go ahead then, tase me. it won't do anything." he's unimpressed as he reaches out for his bag and tugs on his shirt, then his shoes and a clean hoodie. he shoves his hammock into the bag, grabs anything else that was laying around.
whatever she's still saying to him goes in one ear and out the other as the male ties his shoes, pulls his hood over his head and tosses his bag around his shoulder. "you should've but you didn't. you should call the police but you won't. isn't that right, kristine?" he questions, halting in his steps behind her. "what are you gonna do, bury these ones while you're at it?" his head is tilted to the side. "or do you just like to bury the ones that can't say goodbye to their parents, so that their family will spend the rest of their lives taking whatever lead they can to find their kid, with every bit of hope in them that they have in them to find them?" it's a genuine question, and he wasn't trying to egg her on. she gave him a fact check, but it was time she was given a reality check.
he takes a few steps forward so that he can step in front of her, looking her up and down for a moment with a look of distaste. "i do apologize for trespassing on sacred grounds, and tying my hammock up to the giant squoia. but that's a part of life, right? making mistakes, learning and fixing them. i made my mistake, learned it was wrong, so it won't happen again. but you.." he leans down so that his eyes are level to hers (she was quite shorter than him, might i add) and so that he's a bit closer to her. "you made your mistake, and it stops there. perhaps you don't think it's wrong, i don't know. but i feel bad for you, that you have to live with yourself. you're just as bad as them. so go ahead. call me what you want, because at the end of the day, it doesn't bother me. i may be an idiot, but you're despicable, kristine. and you have to live with that" jungkook mutters before leaning back.
he takes a few steps back, raising a brow along with his right hand that offers a two finger salute. "see ya." it was time he goes home anyway. obviously, this would have never happened if he were still at work. he should just -- keep working.
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ Kristine practically threw the hammock to the ground rather aggressively before going up to the tree to see if it was damaged in anyway. She then pushed past him and looked at the other tree and noticed a slight dent within it. "Oh?" a small sound escaped her lips as her brows knitted upwards and her eyes turned slightly melancholic. Her hand picked up to graze the dent gently before looking over at the male with a look. A look that instantly went from sadness to pure kitten anger. Never mind that he was shirtless and messy looking -- or wet because of the rain, she was pissed.
"I outta tase you right here, right now." She grumbled under her breath before pointing at the opposite direction of the place he was pointing at, which happens to be the spot where she came out through earlier. "You idiot!" she screeched before walking up to him nearly pressing her body against his own. "There are signs in this park! Do you even know what this site is, or how old these trees are? You freaking dummy! This tree is nearly 3,000 years old! It's the second oldest after Methuselah which is 5,000 years old!" she explained to him before leaning down to pick up his hammock, shoving it into his direction.
"If anything, you're trespassing now and I can have you arrested! I should've stopped you from continuing on last night, but I didn't, but I should've!" she said as she pulled away from him and straightened herself out. Her brows where stilled furrowed and her small hands balled into fists before walking away from the male. As Kristine continued to walk away, she yelled, "You better hurry up because I have a group of people coming through to this site soon, you idiot"
@ᴋʀɪsᴛɪɴᴇ ғʀᴏsᴇᴛʜ ʰ jungkook is still sleeping when the hammock is turned over, and as he hits the ground. to say he was a hard sleeper was... quite the understatement. there was absolutely nothing in this world that he loved more than sleeping, literally. and anybody that knew him would be able to attest to it. waking him up was nearly impossible, he really had to wake up on his own time to begin the process of waking up. it takes him a few minutes until he could hear a faint 'do you know how old they are?!' and slowly, he began waking up.
the male grunts whilst turning onto his side, his hand extending to grip onto the edge of the hammock so that he could enter a more comfortable position, but he only feels light pricks against his palm. huh? one of his eyes begins to blink open, quickly squinting as the bright rays of sunlight enter his blurred vision. "what --" he's groggy, and definitely confused. why was he on the ground? jungkook's his hand begins to rub at his eyes, body slowly being propped upon his left elbow. that's when he see's the shoes, and he raises his gaze and -- "oh, come on." he curses under his breath. it had to be her again? what was she even doing, what - "hey -- hey, what are you doing?" he questions and quickly pushes himself up to his feet. well, he looked like an idiot. shirtless, hair disheveled and... since when did it start raining out?
"can i help you with something?" the male questions, reaching out to take his hammock out of her grip. he's still half asleep, and definitely looks the part. "what? am i not supposed to be here or something? you could put some signs up then, especially if you're coming out from that side." there were signs, but there was one side that didn't have any -- which, happened to be the side that he'd come from. jungkook motions towards where he recalls coming in, which visibly shows no signs saying anything about restriction.
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ That night it was all the same. The sweating at the forehead, the and groaning, and the twisting in her bed was a result of a horrendous nightmare. Just like the hopes she had before sleeping had all dissipated the moment she woke up from her deep slumber. It was quick, shooting up into a sitting position and breathing heavily as she looked all around her then down at her hands. In her mind, she could see them completely covered with blood but if anyone else where there, she'd be staring at her own clean hands in horror. She must've looked absolutely insane. Kristine had some time to calm down and recollect her thoughts before she groggily climbed out of bed. It was very early in the morning and she knew that in an hour she had to get ready to guide some people through the woods today. It was apart of her job as a Park Ranger.
This was something Kristine found solace in, her job as a park ranger was something she dreamed of as a child. Growing up in a rich family and expected to be the next heiress was something she did not want. Kristine didn't want to sit in an office all day, ordering other's around, ordering people to get her coffee or be in public eye, she wasn't fit nor interested in that type of thing. Her family was more into the money and fame if anything. Kristine was more into simple things. She was into animals, plants, the outside, the wilderness -- she even went against her parents wishes and switched her major at the last second from being a major in business management to wildlife biology. Her parents didn't find out until a month before she graduated, and they were infuriated. Instead, they turned to her younger sister who was no better than Kristine. She didn't want to take the business either, but after much strictness and lots of forcing from her parents, her little sister gave in to take the position.
Needless to say, this is the reason her and her younger sister never talk anymore.
Her younger sister became bitter and spoiled. Sure, she was a great CEO at a young age, but just like they say, fame and money really can change a person. The person she is today isn't someone she used to know in the past and Kristine can't forgive herself for that. If she could go back in time and just accept the damn position, she'd be in contact with her little sister and her parents. But things are the way they are now for Kristine's selfish reasons of becoming a park ranger instead of taking over the family business. This was "traitor behavior" according to her mother, but did Kristine care? Not a bit.
If she could choose from putting on uniform or putting on a business suit, she'd chose the first. That's how it was. She thought about all this as she was getting dressed, gazing at herself in the mirror with her attire on. She was ready for the day. It was slightly chilly and rain out, so she decided to take a raincoat as well as a few others into her backpack in case any of the tourists/visitors needed any. Kristine made sure her cabin was securely locked before walking down the trail over to the beginning checkpoint which was the parking lot for the wooded park. Just in time, she caught sight of the group she had the morning before and waved with a bright smile.
"Good morning, everyone! I hope you all packed some lunches, today is going to be somewhat of a long one. Make sure you got everything from your cars, including your valuables. I can't guarantee that they will be safe while your cars are parked in this open lot. Also, it's raining out and I don't think it's going to let up anytime soon, so if any of you need raincoats, I got some to spare. Okay? Alright! Let's get going!"
It was two hours in with 4 breaks in between. The group seemed excited and in awe at the natural masterpiece all around them. Kristine taught them many things ranging from small flowers to the leaves on the trees and the stories behind all of them. It was lunch break now and Kristine decided to camp in a small little area surrounded by trees that happened to have a fire pit in the middle. She was the first to get comfortable and everyone followed suit while she lit the logs for warmth or for anyone to cook over. The tour was going to end in another hour, so she decided to see if the next sight was safe and not too muddy or wet to go through. "I'm going just beyond the clearing here.I need to see if it's safe for us to pass through. I'll be right back!" she called out and everyone nodded.
It wasn't too far from the camp, just 5-6 feet away through a busy clearing. As she pushed through, she looked over at the open area. There were no trees except for the two standing tall right beside each other in the middle. However, something caught her eyes from between the trees and she nearly felt her eyes fall out of her skull. "Hey!" she suddenly shouted and she quickly trudged over to the sleeping person in the hammock. "Hey! What are you doing here!" she asked rather sternly, looking over the features of the male sleeping and realized who it was. Suddenly, she flipped the hammock over so he fell on the soft green ground. "Hey, are you dumb or something!? Why are you here?! This is a restricted area to campers!" She shouted as she began to loosen the hammocks from the poor trees and stood back.
"Why would you use your hammock on these trees? Do you know how hold they are?!"
the event had seen to wear him out, and not just physically. it was emotionally draining to see things like that, scarring and traumatizing -- no matter how many times he'd seen it, it was like the first time over and over again. it was true, he wasn't cut out for this life. he wasn't emotionally stable, he was queasy, he wasn't headstrong. he's sensitive. it's as if he'd stopped mentally growing at nineteen, where he was just an afraid boy whom was lost and sensitive, uncontrollable. obviously, things had changed: he was strong, he knew how to be in certain situations. but god, did he hate who he was. he hated his life, and wondered what ed up things he could've done in the past to deserve this. this... immortality that so many humans carelessly wish for. the strength, the speed. at the end of the day, it was nothing. at the end of the day, he was nothing. he was just like everybody else, in that way.
he'd been tiredly trudging through the woods for the past hour or so, looking for a good spot to camp overnight, and finally -- he pauses at the sudden clearing before him. what a contrast. the male turns around and looks at the woods before turning around again, a clearing. and on the other side were more woods. it was... random. right in the middle were two trees, and a bunch of logs. this would do. jungkook steps towards the two trees, the strap of his bag slipping down his arm before he set it on the ground. reaching into it, he pulls out his hammock and begins to untie it, so that he can successfully set it up upon the tress. as he does, he can't stop thinking about kristine. how could she..... how could she do what she does? it was so messed up. inwardly, he debated going to the police about it but.. maybe she'd feel guilty enough to turn herself in one day. he hoped she would. and quite frankly, he didn't want to see her again. it was despicable, what she did. what she does.
he heads towards the logs, begins to set them up in a way that would be perfect for a fire before starting one. temperature was never a problem to him, but he liked being warm. then he looks down at his hands, which are still stained, and he pauses to listen close. there's a river close by. perfect. the male nudges himself up, following the sound of the water until he's on his knees and scrubbing his skin clean. it took a while, blood was -- stubborn. but once he was cleaned off, and felt a bit better, he headed back to his campsite. it was a bit of a cooler night, especially because it was fall and well, winter was nearing quickly. as he arrives, he slides off his shoes and removes his shirt, tossing it into his bag before nudging himself into the comfortable hammock.
his head rests upon his arm as he looks up between the two trees, greeting the bright stars of the night with a light smile. jungkook had the closest connection with the stars, because he knew.... no matter whom left his side, who died, or who he'd lose -- the stars would always be there. always. he releases a heavy breath, releasing any worry or stress along with it before slipping into a deep slumber.
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ Taking another seep breath, she peeled her gaze away from the ambulance and looked over at officer lee with somewhat of a broken smile. He did the same as well and handed her the report for her to sign. Just as she was signing, she felt something brush against her shoulder and she and the office looked over at him blinking. "G'night officer. Thank you for your help." Kristine remained poker faced as she looked up at the officer who nodded slowly and straightened out. "No problem, sir. Have a good night, and stay safe." He simply said before returning his attention on the girl infront of him. "He bids an officer a farewell, but not the beautiful lady next to him? Shame." The officer joked lightly as Kristine shook her head and chuckled dryly. "Don't worry about it. He's probably going by his schedule, which is kind of weird, considering it's nighttime. Who knows?" She explained as she began to ascend up the stairs and heard a soft cough from behind her.
"You know, if there's anything you need, you can let me know. You have my number and all."
His eyes were round, and his face charming but also charismatic at the same time. Sure, off duty they've had some moments but because of their busy schedules, they never really had time for eachother. Hence why they were more close friends rather than an "item.", "Thanks, and...I'll definitely let you know if something goes wrong. I promise." That was a lie. Kristine couldn't keep promises as easily as other's. For her, it just took time to open up, that's all. "Alright. I'll see you soon. Have a good night, Kris, and rest well." He said in a soft voice, tipping his hat while disappearing off into the bushes.
She watched as the red and blue lights dissappear off into the distance and suddenly, it was quiet again. Frightening as well as eerie. Living in the woods before wasn't a problem until she got herself into this sort of mess. Now everything around her was tainted with blood. Heading back inside, she looked over and began to clean up the table and made a mntal note to buy another one. She couldn't eat at the same place where someone almost died. Just thinking about it made her queasy. Kristine tossed the sheets into a trash bin as the blood was too thick and too stained to take out in the washing machine. Another mental note to buy more sheets.
After a while, she took a shower and headed to bed, curled up on her side, hugging her pillow as she played with the ring that was on her index finger rather nonchalantly. Her eyes were dull as they stared off into nothingness and she wondered if those nightmares will comeback. They always do anyways, but after the events of what had happened today, she hoped it would be different. Then she thought back to the male from earlier. Jungkook, it was. He was the first vampire she had ever met that didn't come by asking to bury someone he killed, instead, he came by asking to help someone he found. Maybe things were looking up.
@ᴋʀɪsᴛɪɴᴇ ғʀᴏsᴇᴛʜ ʰ jungkook can see the panic set in the girls eyes as the ambulance enters the room in a hurry, ushering him off to the side. "hey hey, it's okay. they're going to take care of you, remember? they're gonna bring you somewhere safe, look --" a set of frantic parents are making their way inside, immediately latching onto their daughter. it was -- tear jerking. christ, he hasn't cried in the recent two years yet this reunion earns a light sting from his throat, his eyes appearing wet for a moment. soon after, he's clearing his throat and raising one of his hands to swipe beneath his eyes. he hears them question who found her, seeing the shaky finger point to him. it's followed by the two of the parents' heads, and he's blinking as the older steps closer to him before her arms are thrown around him. it was -- a new feeling. he'd really saved her. he's picking up sob soaked 'thank you's' as she squeezes him (deathly) tight, and he nods whilst moving his arms around her to reciprocate the hug.
"please do come visit the hospital, we'd love to treat you some dinner for saving our little girl." she's cupping his cheeks, and her touch is warm against his skin. he nods, "i will, thank you." his tone is soft as he watches them step away, raising his hand to offer the girl a small wave when she looks back at him. he'd really have to stop by. soon. and he would. "promise." the male whispered under his breath. it wasn't long until a few officers stepped into the house, made their way to him and questioned about the events that had taken place. "i didn't get a good look of them, as soon as i tackled them they ran. she may have gotten a better look at them though." he nods, crossing his arms against his chest. "if you don't mind me asking, mr. jeon, but why are you out in the woods?" so they knew his name, they knew who he was. it still surprises him, that people know of him sometimes. i guess that's what good business gets you? "i was going on a small vacation. camping." he motions towards the bag, which earns a light laugh from one of the officers. "i can see why. with a man as busy as yourself, i'm sure it can get overwhelming. do you mind taking off your hoodie? just so we can take it in for evidence. during your tackle, you may have gotten some sort of dna, we can send that into forensics."
'told you.' the male voices inwardly as he shoots a look at the girl -- kristine, as he heard an officer (aka the one still in front of her) call her previously. so he does so, and removes the hoodie before handing it to them. "thank you for being so patient with us, sir. you'll hear from us if we need anything else." they turn around, and he takes a step forward. "she'll be okay, right?" throughout this entire process, he's been reassuring her that she would be okay and that she would live, but even he couldn't help but be unsure. "with your help, she's going to be just fine. have a good night, and safe camping." and they're off.
he pauses, lips pursed and eyes blinking as he watches them walk away. "yeah, i don't think i'll be camping anymore." jungkook murmurs to himself. he takes a look at his surroundings once more, biting down into his lower lip before leaning down to throw his bag over his shoulder again. he should get going. he didn't want to be here anyway -- specifically here. so he steps out onto the porch, closing the door behind him before continuing down the steps. his shoulder brushes against kristine's and he looks at her for a moment before looking at the officer and nodding his head. "g'night, officer. thank you for your help."
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ Kristine had a little time to reflect. She had just saved someone's life for the first time who was literally on the verge of death. After all those gnarly hours of being "used" by those vampires as some kind of undertaker who comes by nightly to dispose of bodies; she was tired. She could not longer mentally handle it anymore. Something about that girl laying on the table sparked a change within her. Kristine needed to be stronger and stand up for herself against these unruly vampires, killing off innocent human beings and sometimes even burying their own. It's not worth the nightmares, the depression or the iternal pain that came along with it. It's not worth it at all.
Beyond the trees and bushes, she could see flashes of red and blue from beyond. With a relieved sigh, they made it there in record time. Kristine walked down the few steps and met with the officer face to face. Someone she has known for a long while, especially as a park ranger. "Officer Lee." She greeted as she kept her arms crossed under her chest. "Kristine." He replied back and she nodded her inead in the direction of her small abode. "The girl is inside laying on my dining table. I did some quick stitching, but she should make it long enough to meet with some actual doctors. This was no walk in the park; she was attacked by a couple of vampires." She knew that officer lee wasn't fond of vampires considering what has been going on lately. It's not like he hates them, he's more afraid of then if anything. If he were to find out what she had been doing during the long nights in the woods, he'd never forgive her, but he knew somethings about her that was just off. Kristine watched as the paramedics walked into her home with a stretcher and she sighed heavily. All the while, officer lee was writing the report down and looked up at her with a soften gaze. "You've been sleeping, right? And been taking care of yourself?" Kristine turned around and faced him completely, raising a brow. Oh, no. Could he tell? It felt like he was looking right through her. "It's just—Kris...you haven't been yourself lately. The last time I was here, you called me because you felt like you were in a bad place. You used to be cheery and jittery." He explained with so much care in his voice that Kristine felt like she was going to cry at any moment. However, her eyes did glaze a bit as a small smile was forced upon her featured.
"I'm fine. Don't worry."
Before officer lee could protest, she looked over and watched the young girl who was laying on her table now laying on a stretcher, strapped down carefully and securely. "It's just been a long night. That's all. Nothing more. Don't worry." She reassured him, her soft gaze never pulling away from the girl who slowly disappeared into the ambulance.
@ᴋʀɪsᴛɪɴᴇ ғʀᴏsᴇᴛʜ ʰ he could smell the stench from a mile away, the one that now sit right behind the door that closed off the world from the girls home. for a second, it began to make sense. maybe she did have some kind of medical history, perhaps she worked as a medic for accidents like this sometimes. but something was off. his gaze is focused upon the young girl who's still talking to him, but his brows are knitting together and he's a bit confused. there were more vampires out there -- one, two -- three of them. and if he focused close enough.. his gaze slipped shut, and he's breathing in deeply for a second. the human was dead. then why were they... "yeah, got it." the male murmured in return after she told him to keep an eye on the girl, even though that's what he'd been doing this whole time. "your mom likes to go to your volleyball games? are you any good?" she seemed happy talking about this (as happy as someone could be in this situation), so he'd continue to ask her questions about it.
now, before we jump to conclusions, jungkook wasn't eavesdropping. he just.... happened to hear everything that was being said outside. it was somewhat of a gift, but sometimes he wished that he didn't have such sharp senses. it was a, how the humans, say a blessing and a curse. or was it a blessing in disguise? both fit, i suppose. "we need you to dispose this body somewhere." he's taken aback. his eyes narrow in confusion, but he's still nodding along as the girl continues to weakly speak by his side. she's squeezing his hand, talking about her school life and her friends, and her grades -- a life that she has to look forward to. but he's focusing on what's going on outside, on... what was going on outside? his gaze shifts towards the medical kit that was on the other side of the girl, and he's taking a moment to study the room that the two were in. it was.. off.
And as he's sitting there, as he's looking at this poor girl that almost lost her life, a girl that has a family back home who she loves and who loves her so much -- he realizes something. he's not the monster in this house. he didn't know who this girl was, or what she did, but she was monstrous. sure, she may have helped him save this girls life but.... jungkook was thoroughly disgusted. he wanted to get out of this house, and far away from it. so that's what she does? aren't park rangers supposed to -- protect? report things to the police? this goes to prove that you can't trust things based upon their outside appearance. what was the saying again? oh right, you can't judge a book by it's cover. his jaw clenches, but his fingertips are still gently caressing the girls forehead as she speaks to him. he could hear the sirens as they begin to get closer and closer, and it isn't long until the blue and red lights are radiating through the windows and bouncing off of the walls in the kitchen room.
"you hear that? they're here for you, they're gonna help you." there's somewhat of a hint of a smile on his lips and he looks over his shoulder, leaning to the side to glimpse out the window. "your mom and dad are going to be with you too." they were there, he could pick them out from the bunch of cops that were making their way to the house.
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ Kristine needed answers and the fact that he kept avoiding them and tried to direct her attentionbon the girl was fustrating. It wasn't always like this. Kristine used to be bubbly, passionate, over flowing with teeth bearing smiles and small laughter. Ever since vampires and humans decided to go against eachother, and ever since she was exposed to a group of vampires, life seemed— harder and tough to get through. Kristine wasn't a killer but she was involved by "helping" in getting rid of bodies. She'll never forget the faces of the deceased she had seen. In fact, there were times she'd felt like she was going crazy because she would see thoses faces in a nightmare or in real life as some kind of hallucination. No. It was all festering from the guilt that started to build up within her. Guilt, regret and sometimes sadness.
It didn't help none when she heard someone —multiple people — step around her porch. The wood was creaking beneath him and automatically, Kristine's breath hitched. Her eyes seem to shift side so side, gaze on the floor before pushing herself to walk. "Be right back. Keep—keep an eye on her wounds and make sure she doesn't move around too much." She said in a hurry in attempt to keep in busy and distracted. She didn't know how much time she had before he caught on since he is a vampire himself. Vampires could detect other vampires, couldn't they? Cursing under her breath, she looked behind her before opening the front door slowly and closed it behind her when she stepped into the porch area. There it was. The smell of blood again, only this time, it was heavy, thick and almost nauseating. "Seriously? What the ." She started as she looked at the three vampires standing in front of her, one of them carrying a dead human body over his shoulder. They didn't seem to like her "greeting" as their faces turn into a slight scowl. "We need you to dispose this body somewhere." The asked and Kristine panicked at how loud they were speaking. "S-ssh." She whispered as her eyes shifted to the wibdow then back at them.
"There's another vampire and a human here. Alive, boss." One of them said and this time, Kristine felt completely vulnerable and worn out. "Yes, okay? There are two people in my cabin and a human was gravely injured. The police are on their way approximately...10 minutes away. Okay? I don't have time to help you bury someone today. " she explained in an exasperated tone, the vampires seemingly did not like where this was going. "I cannot help you tonight, understand? Not tonight. Now lwave, go bury the dead somewhere else or the police will come, see us and see them and blow this out of proportion on national news when we already have a war going on to begin with! So, please. Just once. Not. Tonight." She pleaded in a quiet tone only for them to hear.
The vampires all looked at eachother before letting out a series of aggravated sjghs and groans from each of them. "Fine. Just this once, but you owe us big time. Boys, let's get out of hear before the law comes." Kristine could feel her heart slowly returning into a peaceful, calm state. She took a deep breath and exhaled while watching the vampires walk off her porch and head off into the abyss of darkness where they can't be seen. Kristine crossed her arms and gently rubbed them as she stared off into the direction before muttering. "." Just knowing how deep she was into this whole mess.
@ᴋʀɪsᴛɪɴᴇ ғʀᴏsᴇᴛʜ ʰ there's a low 'mhm' sound that could be plucked from the air as she repeats his name, but it was quiet enough so only ones closest to him would be able to ear him. "pardon me, miss. but i don't think now is the best time to talk about me." he murmurs, motioning towards the younger girl. it was a scene that he'd seen before, a very very long time ago. it reminded him of his youngest years, the sacrifices that his family would do to treat him every other night. there would lay a teenager, male or female, once a week. it was given to him as.... how one would say, a specialty. a treat. but as we all know, that didn't end well. he'd never though that he would see something like those days again, but this... this is kind of how it felt. and it was upsetting, it was stomach churning and god, did he want to get back out there and find those two men. he knew what they smelled like, he could catch the sounds of their breathing from here if he tried but.. this girl was counting on him, and perhaps there was another day for that. another time.
clean clothes? jungkook turns his head to look over his shoulder and his brows knit together. when did he bring that along with him? maybe he grabbed it at the last minute, everything seemed to be a blur anyway. his head then tilts down so that he can get a proper look at his hoodie and -- jesus. it wasn't pretty. it really wasn't. his lips press together and he looks back towards the woman, just blinking for a few moments before softly clearing his throat. "i'm not worried about that right now. plus -- i think it'd be a little more suspicious if i were to attempt to clean my tracks in anyway. it could be tampering with evidence, in some kind of way. i don't know. but i won't be painted as a criminal." he was sure of it. even if the police came in for questioning, it would be suspicious to not have any blood on you if you're claiming to have saved her, no? plus, he wasn't nervous anymore. nor was he afraid. he was calming down, slowly but steadily, and the color of his eyes were shifting back to the honey brown -- just as before. that covered any trace of suspicion that he wasn't human, because his teeth were incredibly straight, even.
"we should keep talking to her, keep her distracted and motivated. until they get here, that's what we have to do." he nods towards the other, gently offering the girls hand a squeeze after she does so to his own hand.
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ Kristine listened to the two communicate, which was a good thing to keep the young girl awake just in case. It was a good idea, considering it gave time for Kristine to clean up the mess around her, placing the med kit to the side -- in arms reach -- in case anything bad were to happen the meantime while waiting for the police to arrive. "i was just -- roaming around and came across two guys on top of her. so i just dropped everything and tackled them down, but they ran." She listened to him intently and immediately, her blood began to boil just a bit. 'those god damn fools.' she thought to herself and knew that these vampires were starting to use her home as some kind of killing ground. Now she felt responsible for this girl, and she felt extremely bad for her too. It was bad enough already that she had vampires come in and out to bury the people they killed, she didn't want people to get killed on her turf. That was a huge, huge, huge mistake. However, she has no say in the matter and even if she were to refuse by lending help, she'd be killed just like the rest of those innocent human beings.
Even after the male introduced himself to her, she was very skeptical as to why he was there in the woods in the first place, especially around this time of night. Kristine leaned against the short bookshelf behind her, crossing her arms under her chest and raised a brow. "Jungkook." she repeated before looking at the time and looking back at him with hesitation written across her face. "What were you doing in the woods at this time of night? Excuse my questioning, but I obviously live out here as well as work here. So it's my business to know why you are here in the first place." She didn't mean to come off as cold, but when she's trying to get to the bottom of a situation like this, she wants answers, loud and clear. What distracted her from continuing as the stench of blood that was still in the air and slowly, her eyes fell on the specks of blood that stained his shirt. She also looked over to the side and noticed and bag beside him and placed two and two together. "Never mind that. We'll talk about it later when this girl is picked up by the paramedics. For now, why don't you go change into some clean clothes."
"I know what you are, and if the police were to come by and question us, they'd see you in those blood stained clothes and paint you as a criminal."
@ᴋʀɪsᴛɪɴᴇ ғʀᴏsᴇᴛʜ ʰ jungkook couldn't help but focus on the female stitching up the wounds -- was she a doctor? 'calling from the park ranger's office.' well, that answered his question. how did she know how to do all of these things. he nods and reaches out for the phone, dialing 911 before doing exactly what he's told. "yes uh -- i'm calling from the park ranger's office and there's been an emergency -- yes, we need you right away. ambulance too, yes. thank you." he sets the house phone down after doing so and makes his way back to the table. the male was quite fascinated as she stitched up both of the wounds with what looked to be such ease. occasionally, his fingers would press the towel so that the two could work together in this, as somewhat of a team. "keep your eyes open, that's right -- you're okay." he could hear the thudding of her heart begin to relax, her breathing begin to stabilize itself at a calmer speed. "i was just -- roaming around and came across two guys on top of her. so i just dropped everything and tackled them down, but they ran." the male nodded as his teeth sank into his lower lip.
shifting to the side, jungkook takes a seat upon one of the chairs next to the table, his hand reaching out to take the young female's hand into both of his own. while he was sure that she would make it out alive, there was a split chance that things could go wrong. and if that were to happen, he wanted her to feel... comforted, at least, in her last moments. "do you have a mom?" he whispered to the girl, gently rubbing her arm. and when she nods, he whispers a light 'good, good' in encouragement. "you must love her a lot right?" he questions once more, and she nods again, weakly voicing how much she loved her parents. normally, it was good to bring up things like this, so that the victim would have a motivation to get through. "think about them, okay? can you tell me more about them?" the biggest thing was to prevent her from falling asleep, especially with her weakened state. he's nodding along as she does so, continuously rubbing her forehead with his free hand. "you're doing so great, you're going to be with them soon, okay? keep thinking about them, keep your eyes open." he was trying so hard. jungkook didn't want to fail her, like he has so many other victims. victims that he'd failed by his own hands.
'who are you-- and what is your name?' he blinks once, just shifting his gaze from the weak female to the other before answering simply. "i'm jungkook."
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ As Kristine began to sew the wound shut as much as she possibly could, she looked up at the male holding the towels and quickly reached out to grab one from him and presses it gently under the young girls neck to soak up the blood while doing so. Kristine thanked god mentally for taking a course in medical otherwise this girl would've been a lost cause. She was no doctor, but she was extremely determined to get this girl to some kind of stable state of consciousness. "should we call the cops? so that they can at least be on the way?" Kristine looked up at him and nodded her in the direction of the house phone behind him. "Let them know that this is an emergency and that you're calling from the Park Ranger's office. They already know where I am." she said quickly as she focused back on the wound. The blood began less and less frequent and she couldn't tell if it was a good sign or not, but the young girl seemed to relax bit by bit. A little frazzled still, but a little bit more calmer.
Once done with the wound on her neck, Kristine grabbed another needle and thread and went over to her wrist and began to stitch that up as well. She was careful, precise and focused, even though she wasn't a certified "doctor", she did her best in keeping the wound clean and free of any possible infection for the time being. With the stitches completed, Kristine grabbed a gauze and some wrap and began to wrap her wrist up to avoid the stitches being snagged; she did the same to the young girl's neck as well. "What happened to her, do you know?" Kristine suddenly asked as she took a quick glance at the frenzied male across from her who seemed to be doused in the girl's blood too. Securing the wrap around the girls neck, Kristine placed her hand on the girls hand and spoke softly, "I don't have morphine on me, I'm not licensed to have that in my possession. However, the police and paramedics are on their way right as we speak. You will survive, okay? Don't move around too much." She spoke as she leaned over and grabbed the comforter, placing it around the girl to keep her as warm as possible from the loss of blood.
Finally, she directed her attention towards the male and furrowed her brows, eyes slightly squinted. "Who are you--and what is your name?"
@ᴋʀɪsᴛɪɴᴇ ғʀᴏsᴇᴛʜ ʰ he moves quickly behind the other as he's guided inside, leaning over to gently set the girl down atop of the dining table. jungkook barely looked at the other girl, and his focus was on the one that he'd previously set down. he was still applying pressure to both wounds in attempt to stop the blood, but it didn't look like it was going to be stopping anytime soon. but he was trying to stay calm, like -- like the other girl was, the one that was helping him. he could hear that she was panicking a bit inwardly, specifically by the way her heart rate spiked, but on the outside she was calm and collected. he had to be like that too, especially for this poor girl. "towels and comforter, got it." the male nodded, turning around on his heels. he's paused as a hand loosely wraps around his wrist and when he looks back, the girl is giving him a frightened look. "i'll be right back, i promise." he promised. he didn't make many promises, normally afraid that he'd be unable to fulfill them. but there wasn't anything else on his mind other than getting this girl through this alive.
with a small nod, he's gently wiggling his wrist from her grip in order to make his way down the hall and into the bathroom. as he does so, his hands nudge the thick fabric of his hoodie up to his elbows before reaching up to tug the mask off of his face. he tosses it into the nearest trash can as he enters the bathroom before blindly reaching out for any towels in sight. jungkook turns around quickly, before entering her bedroom (after several attempts of finding the right room) to tug the comforter off -- just as he was instructed to do so before.
with that being said, he's quickly reentering the kitchen with his lips parted, soft pants slipping through them as he steps beside the table once more, towels and comforter in hand. "what do you need me to do now?" he questions, inwardly reminding himself to stay calm. perhaps this was a test by -- he didn't believe in a god. but if there was a slight chance that there was one.. maybe they were testing him. there's a sudden rush of hope that runs through his veins as he takes a look at the weak girl laying upon the table, and he's determined to save her.. with the help of the other, of course. to his knowledge, everyone died. everyone left his side in the past, and he wasn't ever able to save anybody. could this finally be his chance? could this time, maybe.. just maybe.. could he save her? "you're going to be okay." he murmurs softly, extending his hand so that he can comfortingly swipe the pad of his thumb against her forehead. "she knows what you're doing, you're going to be just fine." calm. remain calm. "should we call the cops? so that they can at least be on the way?" he questions the other.
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ Kristine could smell it, and though she wasn't a vampire at all, she could smell the blood full of iron from several feet away. She assumed it was another vampire with a human to bury, but what she saw coming out from those bushes was another story. Kristine walked over quickly and furrowed her brows, noticing how much the male was panting and sweating at the head. He looked desperate almost frightened. "What's going on?" She asked quickly, glancing over at the limp human body in his arm. "thank god, i -- i need you to call the cops, i need your help. she's alive, barely, but she's lost a lot of blood. i can't --" Noticing the slight panic in his voice and the way his eyes were bright red, she nodded quickly and guided him over into her cabin.
Jogging over to her dining table, she knocked everything off in one clean swipe and patted the surface for him to place her there. She quickly tore off her sweater and placed her hair up in a pony tail while sauntering over to her office which was only a few steps away. Kristine rummaged through multiple items and objects before finding the medical kit she had received when she first became a park ranger. If anything, it was a good thing this male found her otherwise this poor girl would've died a little while later. She was bleeding at the wrist but mostly at her neck where the vein is most exposed. Bad. This was bad. There was no time to put anything together yet, so she fitted the gloves on quickly and grabbed a syringe and a small bottle labeled as "Aminocaphoric Acid" to help stop the bleeding. "Listen to me, okay? I need to you to go into my bathroom which is down the hall and grab a few towels, then go to my bedroom and rip off the comforter and bring it here as well." she instructed to the male as she tapped the syringe several times before leaning over to get a better look.
The girl on the table looked so weak that Kristine thought she might not make it through, but she had hope and lots of it. For once, she wanted to save someone's life instead of burying them in places where no one else could reach. She needed some light in her life and this had to be it. "This is gonna hurt a bit, I'm sorry." She murmured to her patient as she injected the needle around the wound to at least stop the bleeding. The injured girl gurgled and groaned weakly and Kristine winced at the second hand pain the young girl must've been feeling. She pulled away and began to work quickly by grabbing another syringe and doing the same thing to the girl's wrist. After that, she grabbed a sterile needle and sterile thread and began to prepare for some immediate stitching. Kristine lived out so far that if she were to call the police, they wouldn't be able to arrive til' 20-30 minutes later. If she left this girl unattended, she would've mostly certainly die on her dining room table. This is what she could do at least, dressing her wounds to lessen the pain and so she won't die from bleeding out.
@ᴋʀɪsᴛɪɴᴇ ғʀᴏsᴇᴛʜ ʰ jungkook needed a break -- a quiet, closed off break. that's exactly what he needed: to be off of the radar without a way for anybody to contact him. perhaps work was becoming too much for him, right now. with that being said, he had his assistant set up an automatic email explaining that he was out of work and on vacation for the week, and even had his assistant and the rest of his workers take a freebie week off. why not, right? and him? he was going to be camping in the woods for a week. the male needed to clear his head, he was desperate for it. so once he arrived home, he packed his bags, changed into a set of comfortable clothes (aka black sweatpants and a white tshirt) which happened to be something that he would never even consider wearing out. especially considering his status. his gaze is staring upon his reflection as he tugs a black mask over his mouth, letting the ends slip behind his ears before he completes his outfit with a clean white hoodie - hood up, of course.
eye color? honey brown. he was calm, collected, well-fed, excited.
he keeps his head down as he casually begins towards his destination. it's dark out, thankfully, so nobody would be able to pick out his identity. one hand sets within his left pocket, the other loosely curling around the strap of his duffle bag that hung from his shoulder. it isn't long until he enters the woods, a muffled hum bouncing upon the mask covering his mouth. he wanders deep into the woods for a good half hour before roughly halting -- there's that smell. blood, and not the kind that he fed from. it was..
jungkook flinches as the memories appear before his eyes as her lifeless body lay in his arms, his fingers now gripping around the strap of the bag. when his eyes open once more, they're wet and he's dropping his bags before charging towards the scent. "hey! hey you! yeah, get the off of her!" he calls out as he nears it, and he throws himself over the two males hovering over the girls body. he tackles them to the ground and they run, thankfully not giving him a fight. "filthy bloodsuckers." he mutters in distaste before looking back towards the girl. jungkook couldn't remember the last time he'd come so close to human blood, and obviously, that's not what mattered. the male kneels down beside her, reaching out to apply pressure to the wound upon her neck and her arm -- ", i -- hey hey, i need you to stay with me, okay? keep your eyes open." she's trying to speak, but it's muffled and her eyes are attempting to close. he couldn't do this on his own. "come on, stay with me." he reaches for his phone, blood smearing over his hoodie and his back pocket in the process and he halts. that's what this trip was for, no phones. . "okay, we're gonna get you some help. here, y-you need to press your hand here.." he guides her unharmed hand to the wound on her neck, and he flinches at the scream that she emits. "i know, i know -- you can do it. we'll be there soon." he whispers, promising that she would be okay as he scoops her up.
one of his hands curls around her wounded wrist and he frantically begins running in attempt to find someone, somebody that could help. there was a faint heartbeat in the distance that he could pick up, so he follows it, all while encouraging the girl to keep speaking to him. and finally, he's breaking through bushes into a little bit of a clearing. his hands are shaking as his gaze rests upon an unfamiliar face, lungs gasping for breath. "thank god, i -- i need you to call the cops, i need your help." he's desperate as he steps towards the girl, gaze falling to the girl in his arms. his hoodie and palms are covered by her blood, but there's none around his mouth -- none that could set him up to look as if he were the monster. "she's alive, barely, but she's lost a lot of blood. i can't --" he murmurs, almost to himself.
@ᴊᴇᴏɴ ᴊᴜɴɢᴋᴏᴏᴋ ᵛ Kristine sat there on the porch of her small cabin abode flipping a coin between her index finger and thumb. It was the only thing that could keep her mind busy while she waited for the potential vampire to come rolling through and ask for her help. Though, in the beginning, it wasn't always like this; waiting for someone to dispose of a body -- a human body. At the start, Kristine had just graduated from a university with a degree in wildlife biology as well as landing a job as a local park ranger. The park ranger isn't all that exciting considering you have to give directions to those who are lost or trying to get through to somewhere, Kristine was always the one that went off into tangents about certain animals, plants, and environments when she gave tours that no one really cared about. She loved her job nonetheless all before she was expose for the first time to a vampire. Before the great divide, Kristine had known all about them, in fact, she was fine with living side by side with them until everything went to hell. It must've been a few months in that vampires started to come by through the woods during the night to dispose of bodies. She was the only one who lived at the edge of the woods and was often approached by vampires for help. With her intelligent knowledge of the land (she knew the woods like the back of her hand), the vampires took it upon themselves to "recruit" Kristine to find places that were hard to reach by other humans to dispose of the dead bodies.
At first, Kristine was appalled by the request and though she wasn't held hostage or forced, she made the choice (out of fear) to help these vampires rid of their mistakes -- which they happen to make constantly. It went on like this for a few weeks until she was finally suggested that she help by burying those poor innocent human beings into the earth to be forgotten forever. It had became a nightmare almost literally as Kristine had trouble sleeping at night. When she would sleep, Kristine would often see images of those she's seen come through or helped by burying them into the ground. Everything about this whole scheme was haunting and though Kristine had a love and passion for wildlife, she had to put that on hold to help those vampires hide and get rid of their mistakes. It was something she was slowly becoming used to day by day.
The bushes around her began to shake and rattle slightly which caught her attention almost immediately. The coin stopped in the center of her palm and she stood up, making her way down the stars of the porch and out into the small open area in front of her cabin. It was completely dark out, and the moon barely lit up the ground through the tree's above. Nonetheless, who ever it was, she would tell by their eyes whether they were human or not.
