@Lee Taeyong "No," Hyungseok answered honestly but still got up. His body hurt so much, he wanted to rip the skin from his flesh and bones but he knew it would not be a solution. And the king needed to be safe. Now. He huffed and held onto the other man, more stumbling over his own feet than really walking.
"How far is it?" The Wizard asked while moving. He could hear Mateo make worried sounds because of him but there was no energy of him to reply to his boy right now. Concentrating on walking and keeping at least a slight shield around the king was already hard enough.
@Park Hyungseok The king looks around there surroundings. The one who had casts the spells will probably know the guards are free. They had to move.
Taeyong looks down as he heard a soft voice.
"You okay to move" he asked still having a supporting arm around the others back.
A guard got up and said we indeed had to move. "Yes we have" he looks at the wizard and placed his arm around his shoulders helping him up to his feet "let's go to the closest safe house. You come along" taeyong started walking and one guard came along. It was not to far from the shrine.
@Lee Taeyong For a moment everything felt dull and weak and Hyungseok took a shaky breath, body shaking. Oh , this felt horrible. He bit his lip and tried to keep hise yes open but it was hard. It was blurry and weak and all he wanted was this pain to stop. It was like there was a wildfire raging from within and it made his body tremble even more. , he had known it would be bad, but he had not expected it to be this bad. For once he had really overestimated himself. It felt like something would break his skull open and he whimpered quietly, biting his lip. He could endure this. He had to. He was a strong ing wizard, this was nothing that would kill him. At least this was what he was telling himself. Aside from that, he could die. He would break Hyun-Joong's heart and Jinah's as well and it would cause so much trouble.
Then, slowly, everything came back at once. Shuffling feet, people running, words, the cool fabric on his body and he slowly opened his eyes again, this time properly, when he had heard the king's voice, surprised at how worried but gentle it sounded. He was a wizard from the raven, why was the king of the wolves even nice to him?
"I'll be okay," he mumbled, trying to sit up. "Don't... don't get more people involved." If someone recognised him, that could get them into trouble. "We need to get you to a safe place." The king was still in danger.
@Park Hyungseok Taeyong kept his hand on Hyungseok's shoulder as a supporting matter. He knew it was a lot to ask for. He looked relieved seeing his man return to normal but he quickly got worried feeling heat coming from the wizard. "Get the doctor and wizard here, NOW!" he ordered eying one of the man that looked the fastest "Hurry!" And with that the man run away getting the help.
Taeyong looked worried at the younger and quickly reacted taking him into his arms and kneel down carefully. He made sure to support the others back and head. "Your a brave one" he whispered and checked his pulls. Okay heart is beating. Fast, but beating. He saw some water in a puddle close by from last night rain. "Put your jacked in the puddle and give it to me" he ordered and the man did what he was told too. Taeyong almost snatched the jacked out of the guards hands and placed it on the others chest and took the sleef and placed it on his head. Hoping it could help cooling him down. "Stay with us. You hear me." He said and ordered an other guard to look after the guards that hadnt woken up.
@Lee Taeyong For a moment Hyungseok hesitated, feeling how every tiny fiber in his body rejected the idea of taking black magic in, but he had offered this option so he had to take it. Taking a shaky breath he looked at the king. Why was he doing that? Helping the king that wasn't even his? Because he didn't care what kingdom they were in. Because the people were more important than anything else. And he could not risk seeing Hyun-Joong sad. Losing someone again, no. He could not risk that for him.
"Okay," Hyungseok said and looked around. He made himself the center of the black magic, calling it with spells and he could feel it coming to him. It took a moment before he felt the burning sensation of magic that was not his in his body but now that he had started it, he could and would not stop.
The confused and then relieved faces of the soldiers he started taking the magic from hit hard. He bit his lip and kept going, creating a force field for black magic while still protecting the king.
And then it hit all at once. The black magic around them disappeared and hit his small body hard, filling him entirely and for a short moment Hyungseok felt like it was suffocating him, burning him alive, drowning him - all the ways to die that were everything but nice. Flailing he reached for the king while his surroundings started to blurr and all he could feel was pain, hot, raging pain. His body was not made for black magic. His legs have in under the weight of magic that wasn't his and there was a loud ringing in his ears.
@Park Hyungseok Taeyong flowered at the wizard back but didn't respond. He knew if he hadnt protected Hyungseok just there the arrow would have hit him.
So if they teleported his man would still be captured by the black magic. If the wizard took the magic his man would be fine in the end. But what happems to Hyungseok is unclear. He looks at the wizard. Where these really just the it two options? He stood up and places his hand on the others shoulder. "Take the black magic. I promise I would do anything to help you with the outcome." And if he promised some thing he kept to it. Of course he hoped nothing bad would happen. But this option felt like the only one to stop his man. Maybe selfish but he was making sure he would do anything to help the wizard.
@Lee Taeyong "Then don't spot brave words if they mean nothing at all," Hyungseok said and turned to stop an arrow midway, letting it fall down. He was making sure he was not harming the soldiers, just stopping them.
"This time it's you who needs protection," Hyungseok said and cursed, stopping a sword midway just in time before it would have gotten to the shield. There was even black magic in their weapons. What was this ?
"Honestly, no idea. They'd probably look for us." He huffed and kept his eyes looking around, ready to stop someone who was attacking. "No idea. I never took black magic into my body before." No that was not true. He had, once. Though he barely remembered. "But I don't know where we end up with option one. Could be in the next street. Could be on top of a mountain."
@Park Hyungseok "Try I do not know much of black magic" he amseres truthfully. He maybe encountered black magic before but he was really young. He didn't remember much.
"I protect. That a in my blood" he glares a bit and looked at the wound. It really was just a scratch not even deep. And he would heal fast. "What happens with them if we telleport and what happens with you if you take the black magic in" he asked looking at his people
@Lee Taeyong "You clearly have no idea how black magic works," Hyungseok cursed, using another spell to push them back. He was able to freeze two of them but there were more. How many were there? He hissed as someone throw himself against the shield. Thing was, the shield was his magic and if it broke, it broke part of him too. He cursed and spoke another spell, slowing time.
A sharp pain went through his body when the arrow passed his shield, breaking it but he was fast enough to pull up another one. He huffed at the king.
"You aren't supposed to protect me," he scolded him, making sure the man was out of line.
"I have two options. One: make a portal, take us away. But I cannot control where we end up." He cursed and made another move, throwing some of the soldiers off and momentarily stopping them. "Two: I take the black magic into my body. It might make them faint and some might end in a coma, shortly. Depending how deep the black magic is rooting. Choose. But choose fast."
@Park Hyungseok "More? Dammit!" The wolf king growled lowly looking around angrily. He can't even more angry as his own guards started to attack the should that was covering them. Taeyong blinked seing what they did. Throwing there whole body into it "the spell needs to be broken soon. There hurting themselves. Aren't you the strong wizard. Shouldn't black magic not be a piece of cake?"
He looked at them and suddenly got an idea. "Would knocking them out work?" If that worked that would give time to break the spell. Taeyong couldn't use magic like that so he couldn't help in any other way.
Suddenly his nose picked up a crack in the shield. That can't be good. He eyes up and sees one of his best archeries. No.
His eyes picked up the speed of the arrow being shoot to the backside of the wizard through the crack. Just before the arrow hit the other the king managed to pull Hyungseok down to the ground. The king growled getting a scratch from the arrow along his arm. "We have to get out of here" the next arrow defently wouldn't miss and taeyong knew that.
@Lee Taeyong "There are more," Hyungseok mumbled, feeling a looming presence around them and he grimaced. "I am trying. But it's black magic," he cursed and spoke a few spells but there was just a loud sound, like something breaking and some sparks. "Whoever is controlling them, they are using some foul play." He huffed and concentrated again but he could feel footsteps coming closer.
"Goddamnit," he cursed and his ferret made a small sound. Controlling people was the lowest anyone could do. For a small prank, sure, but this? This was mind control and it was not okay.
"Seems like they used some liquid magic as well." That would make it harder for him to reverse whatever spell was used.
@Park Hyungseok the king nodded slowly having seen it. his man wherent themselfs. was something controling them?
taeyong flinched as the wizard pused him behind the other. ready to defent himself but seeing the others face in that split second he could see he wasnt the one behind it. he wasn't a treat.
the wolf looks around and sniffs the air. "six guards are around here. serounding us" he looks at the back of the wizards back "did you do something to make them leave there post or make them fondebrle?" ((okay i dont knowwhy but i cant seem to whrite that word))
he stands up and looks around with his golden yellow eyes " can you maybe un them back to normal, i don't wanna fight them"
@Lee Taeyong "Did you see the look in their eyes?" Hyungseok asked and bit his lip. He definitely did not imagine it at all. He shook his head and looked around, tensing. Without hesitation he pushed the king behind him, mumbling a spell that would protect them.
"It's an ambush," he said, using some magic to see where and how many it would be. "I can't even say how many. Someone seems to have taken control of your men," he explained quietly, ready to attack or at least protect the king.
@Park Hyungseok Taeyong watches the guards walk away keeping up a frown and gets a his alertness back. "Perhaps." He answered and looks back at Hyungseok. "They are. I know them" he turns to be facing them again. But seeing how slow they walked away and the sudden change in the air didn't feel great. Something wasn't right. "Stay alert" he whispers low to the wizard.
@Lee Taeyong "Guess we'll never know," Hyungseok said amused, not letting the other person know. It was his secret, something he would not spill at all. He brushed through his hair and shrugged. "I know more than you might ever guess," he then added. He knew so much more about both kingdoms and the kingdomless places than anyone else.
Hyungseok tensed, feeling something was off. He kept his eyes on the guards and then looked at the king after the guards have left. For a moment he hesitated.
"Are you sure those were your guards?" he asked and frowned. He could not smell anything but it was something in the air he could feel. Something that screamed danger at him.
@Park Hyungseok Taeyong sighs and shook his head. He wouldn't kill this man. He wouldn't kill anyone. When he took over from his own father he directly changed the death penalty rule. But it seems that he couldn't threaten the guy even with lies now. Where was that fast beating heart from a while ago.
Taeyong looks up. "Oh no your probably smart enough but I got a feeling you just didn't do it alone" call it a wolves gut fealing but he just knew. It wasn't all him alone.
The king looked down. He had plant them to keep people safe. The plant was going to get destroyed if he didn't plant it. But after the incident he didn't give it freely to the ravens. Not that they asked anyway.
Taeyong watches the wizard taking his pet and putting it in his bag. Taeyong shook his head "I can manage myself young wizard" he turned around and looked at the 3 man walking closer. He glared a bit "didn't I give you orders? Leave the shrine. I call if I need anything" he said sternly. The 3 man looked at the stranger for a bit not sure "Now!" But they quickly moved at the sudden yell of there king and quickly left again
@Lee Taeyong "Well then feel free. Cause the start of the war, make your people die. If that's what you want, behead me," Hyungseok said, dry expression and serious face. "Just know that I am of more help being alive than being dead." He knew so many things this man would never know.
A snort left Hyungseok's lips. "You really think I am not smart enough to know? To figure it out my own? You don't know how often I was here, in your garden. I even once met your youngest son. Nice boy, clever." He shrugged, leaving it open if it was a threat or not.
"But I need those herbs," he then said. "No matter if you planted them or not. They keep people alive." Oh if this man knew what Hyungseok knew. What he had done. How often he had helped without them knowing.
"I probably blocked them myself," Hyungseok said and carefully lifted his ferret up again, holding it close and kissing it's nose. "it's okay, little guy. You are safe," he said and let the ferret disappear in his bag so he could curl up there.
He then looked up. "Your guards. Want me to send them away?"
@Park Hyungseok Taeyong nodded the guy was right. If he wanted he already had done it. "I can still change my mind if you piss me off" he answered in return.
Taeyong blinked a bit I shock. Wait how does he know. Only the royal family, the royal healer and some guards knew about this. That's it prove someone helped him. He frowned and spoke up "That's then prove you defently have help from the inside." Someone in the castle. But How? How could that happen. Who was his help?
"Of course they don't grow the ground is special. I made sure of that" he remembers planting one of his Favorite herbs with beautiful flowers in the garden. One that only grow out beautiful over there.
"Your memories seems to be blocked" he said again. Then it must have been traumatic. Maybe he should let the topic fall. He sighs hearing his guards more clearer "my guards are approuching."
@Lee Taeyong "If you wanted to do that, you would have already done that," Hyungseok said stubbornly and looked at the man. He was right, wasn't he? If this king was here to harm him, he would have already done that. Though he was not entirely sure if this man was not eventually up for that. But for now he did not seem like it.
"Seven," the wizard said, knowing fully well most people only knew about five. "There are some that grow in the palace garden alone. I tried planting some at my place but... It does not work." He shook his head. He had been so angry with himself about this. But there was not much he could do after all. If it did not want to grow, it would not.
Confused Hyungseok looked at the man, wondering what he was talking about. "What?" He turned the way the king had turned but then looked back as he was given attention again.
@Park Hyungseok "Becouse young man, a king had the power to put you behind bars and get you punished. Maybe even losing your live" the last taeyong didn't mean but he needed to get trough the kid. That he still was playing with fire.
Taeyong frowned at the other "How many herbs are growing here and no where else?" He asked. It was know by the world that 3 herbs grew her. But it was actualy 5 secret herbs. Well if the world knew about the 3 then 2 secret ones.
"That's to bad. Seems like a blocked me...." He suddenly turn his head around to listen. And he sighs "I thought I told them to stay put." He mumbles but then put his atantion back to the wizard
@Lee Taeyong A huff left Hyungseok's lips and for a long moment he just stared at the man and shook his head. He should watch his words? He had never been good with that and now he would not change that. "Why?" If the king wanted to imprison him, he already had enough reason to do so. Trespassing was one of them.
"I don't need anyone to tell me if I can go here or not." Hyungseok crossed his arms, protective but also angry. He could not tell what it was but the man riled him up.
And then he said something he didn't expect himself to say: "I think I know. But I cannot remember." They were somewhere locked up in his brain those memories. And he wanted to know but he was also scared. He also was impressed the king believed him so easily - what if he was lying? If he was this man, he'd definitely lock the wizard up. At least to teach him a lesson. But luckily Hyungseok was not the king.
@Park Hyungseok Taeyong nods knowing that's true but still the wizard was standing on wolves land and who was the king? The wolf standing before the wizard. "Still becareful with your words"
Taeyong crossed his arms over his chest. Somehow he knew it was a lie. "Oh I'm sure you can. But I don't think that's the case here." He was sure of it.
"I had some questions unanswered. But if your the only one left and if you tell the truth that you don't know it will stay unanswered" was it revenge? No, not even close. With revenge he wouldnt get his lost son back. No, he only would create more hate and sarrow. There where just some things he needed to know. Maybe to create more peace. But no one would know the truth it seemed.
@Lee Taeyong "You are not my king," Hyungseok said, words strong and even though he was skill scared he would not lie. "I'll show you respect once you show me some," he only gave back. He rubbed the spot on his throat were the clothes had hurt him a bit. He didn't care who that man was, though he knew he should. He could easily decide his fate like this, kill him if he wanted. Everything was possible. But he would not tell the man some sugarcoated words. It was no use.
"I let myself in. I am a wizard. Do you really think I need someone to let me in?" The boy huffed and shook his head. Sure he had told his partner about it so he knew but he would not tattletale. No, he would not.
The ferret made a small sound and stayed close to Hyungseok. Of course Mateo would not leave. He never did.
Confused Hyungseok looked at the man and frowned. "I don't know," he then said and shrugged. But something inside him told him he knew. He knew deep down what had happened, that he had seen it, that he knew it. "As I said, I am the only one left," the wizard added and huffed. If that man wanted revenge he was too late. Unless he decided that the wizard was enough for revenge.
@Park Hyungseok Taeyong looked blankly at the other. Not showing a reaction on the words of the others outburst. Of course it did something with him even tho he didn't show. But he knew the raven kingdom was also to blame. Not the normal people there. But the royal family. They caused him. His people of murder and murdered his one of his sons. And that wasn't something to come back from as a father. "Know your place! That's not how you talk to a king or some elder." He looks up seeing the sun's first light hit the tree tops and shrine roof.
"Who let you in?" The king knew that even a wizard needed some Intel to get in unseen.
Taeyong stared at the farret that was close to Hyungseok's feet. "Oke...i tell but shoe some more respect." He glared a bit and sighs "a dead body of someone dear carried the scent that's familiar to you scent. I know you said you marked your own smell but it's not fouling me here now. It's to familiar so it must be family."
@Lee Taeyong "I don't belong anywhere but this is none of your concern," Hyungseok hissed and looked angrily at the man. "If you can't change, maybe you are not the right person to lead then," he said, knowing he was overstepping boundaries, that the things he was saying we're things he should not say. But his mouth had always been faster than his mind.
He did not reply to the last part - yes he had been here a few times. For reasons, of course. For someone he loved dearly.
"Maybe I do. What's it to you?" the Wizard said. He would not willingly give all his intel away. These were his memories. And even though he was missing a few, he held them to himself. This king might be the king of the wolves but he was noone to Hyungseok. "What do you want to do with the information?" He wondered what all this meant.
@Park Hyungseok Taeyong growled at the others angry out burst but he didn't move or rais his voice. "It's out of protection young man. But maybe your to young to understand that. Or I have been trough to much to change it. Iether way. On the herb matter you clearly miss understood me. " taeyong sighs and his eyes went back to two deep dark brown orbs. "Yes it's stealing in my eyes. But I let you keep what you took. So you can save those people. I'm not a monster." His claws grow back so his hands where normal human hands again. "If it's true you save my people. Thank you for that. But you do not belong here. And I see you went into here with ease. It's not the first time. That I'm sure."
He took a step back "dead huh... my colodeanses. Do you know how they died? And what they did?" He asked again. The king needed to know.
@Lee Taeyong "Yes I have. And instead of bitterness that you clearly carry with you like some ing jewelry I don't care what I am. I don't care about trust. I am helping the people. I am even helping your people!" Hyungseok spat the words out as if they were poison and he was so angry. This king was supposed to help his people. "You say it's stealing and with the same breath you say I should not let them die. Paradox, isn't it?" He wasn't even sure what made him so angry but something in the way the king spoke and used his words. It scared him and that often made him angry.
"No, they are dead," the wizard hissed, still trying to free himself. But even if, this man could use his intruding as a reason to hurt his kingdom. Or he could act noble and only put him into a cell or behead him. Consequences he had to take, after all.
"They are all dead," he repeated and his mind added 'I killed them' but he did not speak it out loud. Yes, he had killed them. No, not exactly. Had given their lives to save two people he loved dearly. But why? He could not remember.
@Park Hyungseok The king sighs "That's noble from you. But it's still stealing." His gaze sorted for a bit. "Don't let the people die" he answered on the herb problem. Last thing he wanted was dying people. Even from a kingdom he disliked. But his glare came back on and he again eyed Hyungseok "don't tell me that. Ever be stabbed in the back when offering a helping hand." The king couldn't help but slip it out. When the raven king had lost his child he had insisted in help to look for him. But everyone knew that story. No it was to late for forgiveness.
Taeyong frowned and eyed the wizard up and down "yes, you are a raven." Then he started to mumble to himself a bit "maybe a brother... must be family. No defently family.... parents?" The king looked down at the farret as he was thinking "parents..." He took his eyes of from the fluffy creature and eyed Hyungseok again "tell me kid. Do you still have your parents or other family members?"
@Lee Taeyong "I can't let the people die," Hyungseok gave back stubbornly. "The kingdoms are supposed to work together, not against each other!" He could not tell this man that he had helped his kingdom too. Helped his people heal, helped his land grow, helped his folk live and survive. In exchange he had taken a few herbs, not too many and he made sure to always give something in exchange. But he couldn't say that, could he? Also he did not think that man would even believe him.
His skinny fingers tug into the other man's hands, the tighter he held his collar, the harder it was for Hyungseok to breathe as his clothes cut into his skin and it hurt. "Let me go!" He hissed and tried to free his hands. No he was not a raven but no one knew this. And he would not tell anyone, ever. "What do you mean? I am the raven's wizard!" He could not tell what the man wanted from him because he did not know. He could not know because he had made himself forget.
@Park Hyungseok "A healing potion." Taeyong shook his head "that they dont grow there doesn't mean you raven can walk in here and take what you need" he said. This wizard was no joke. Be cause it seemed like he done this more often and no guards ever informed him of any intruder.
Taeyong moved even closer glaring fiercely. His grib even getting more tight almost ripping the others cloths around the collar in the process. "No, something is off about you. Your indeed a raven. And you probably know that I'm not so found of ravens. And I know you know who I am. Now tell me beside being an wizard and a raven. Who are you!?" With the last part of his words he harshly let go of the raven intruder. "Why do you smell like something I try to forget. I know it wasn't you. But your scent... no. No mistake with that" taeyong growled.
