@ˢ⁰⁴ ; kim jongin He really must be oblivious if the nerves didn't hit him until just now, waiting for his name to be called next after another student shows off a - somewhat impressive - ability to control her own hair. Jeno fidgets in his chair and glances around the classroom, eyes drifting over a familiar figure and lingering for a just a moment before snapping back as he hears his name. It's not like that person knows who he is - at least, not yet, but very soon they will as he trudges up towards the front of the room with less bounce in his step than usual. For a moment he stands there, everybody's eyes on him as they expectantly. "Go on," the teacher says, encouraging the boy from a few feet away, the tiniest bit of sympathy in their eyes as Jeno plays with the hem of his shirt. They don't know why he's hesitant. Jeno isn't scared of showing everyone else, just that one person.
Eventually he nods, gulping down his nervousness, and in a split second the area where the boy was standing is replaced with a dog, all-white in fur with perhaps the fluffiest tail in the world. Only now his tail is stuck between his legs as Jeno decides to immediately bolt from the classroom, not even looking at the other student he'd been staring after before. He really didn't want them to find out this way - didn't want them to find out at all, and now look! They probably think he's some sort of creep that gets off on being treated like a pet or something, all because he just wanted to be around them a little more, because he has this crush that just won't go away (hard to stop liking the person who kinda pushed you into your Gay Awakening and everything). How can he ever face them again?
[] sdfkjdshkjsh sry if this and i know i said short but it somehow ended up like this :')
@ᵗ ; kim minkyung yugyeom dislikes disappointing people, but it is true for many people. more importantly, he is supposed to be royalty—the prince of a whole planet. he is the next to achieve the title of a ruler, following the path of a famous legend which was his father. his father gave him this road to success, even if the blonde had doubts before. he has to follow his parent’s order. it is the only way to lift his family to a steady path.
the first step is to ignite his victory, and yugyeom hasn’t been able to do that yet. it’s his last year, and he has only received scoldings from his father. it makes him upset sometimes, but being sad will never cut it for him. his fellow peers advised him to talk to his professors on further training. he attempted to, but all of them seemed to brush him off except one person. the person happens to be standing in front him. for someone so lanky, it is an odd sight for anyone to see him shouting loudly, but here he is—speaking with a spark towards his beloved teacher,
“oh gosh, thank you!” he replies with a bright smile, flashing his pearls. “am i any bother? i wish to not partake in disturbance of your afternoon,” he gives a single clap, in which ignites a spark from his fingertips. “i really do need to do a retake on the previous test. i realize that i didn’t do so well, and it’s going to affect my chances of success later on.” the last few words rolls into a lower tone, hinting at the lifting disappointment, but he simpers regardless. “i don’t want to fail again!”
@ʲ⁰³ ; jung jinsoul A couple of steady nods affirmed the question, though she wasn't going to offer any further information without it being asked. It wasn't exactly the most interesting explanation anyway, not without the full story at least and she was exactly keen on recounting that hell. So, she welcomed the nice canine segue in their conversation. "Mhm, of course!" Lightly patting her thigh, she coaxed the collie from his unintentional hiding spot. "Just a quick one though," she warned right after, knowing that he couldn't get too distracted for too long. She hadn't had any episodes in quite some time, but it was always better for Splat to be on alert so he could take preemptive measures.
A small smile settled on her face as she watched him crawl out only to sit obediently at her side while curiously watching every on of Jinsoul's movements. Rui turned her gaze back to the younger as well, cupping both cheeks in her hands. "I'm sorry if it sounds rude, but can I ask what happened to your voice?" she asked, head tilting everso slightly with the question. She'd been genuinely curious since hearing it, but didn't find the space to ask until now. "You don't have to answer if you don't want," she started with an assuring smile, "but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask."
@ˢ⁰⁴ ; watanabe rui "Oh..." Jinsoul drawled out, tilting her head to the other side. So perhaps this was the reason why the headmaster didn't even bother telling her. It wasn't at all exciting, though she supposed that it wouldn't be too polite to say that out loud. Oh well, that wasn't something Rui needed to know anyway. Her eyes fell down on the now closed sketchpad, her curiosity evident in the way she blinked repeatedly, the emotion coloring her irises as she let her gaze linger upon the sketchpad a little longer than she had intended. She wondered if it'd be alright for her to ask about the sketches, or if it'd be... a somewhat touchy subject for the older lady. Obviously, Rui wasn't going to show her that, but she wondered if the latter would if she asked.
"Physical therapy?" Her eyes moved up, before she followed the older's gaze. She shifted her position so she was looking from the side, and her pupils brightened up at the sight of the dog. Her face didn't light up per se, but her lips parted just a little bit in slight awe. "Splat? He's so cute!" Her excitement would have been evident, but her robotic voice ruined it quite a bit. Nevertheless, she almost reached out, before she looked at Rui, blinking. "May I?"
@ʲ⁰³ ; jung jinsoul Another shake of her head, accompanied by a shrug that insisted things weren't as deep or as mysterious as the underclassman seemed to believe they were. She'd simply made the decision two months ago to take advantage of Sora's resources to finish up the last of her rehabilitation. It was far cheaper than seeing the specialized doctors people of their kind usually had to go to. "I just don't take the normal classes that you all take, that's it. I don't take any 'classes,' really because, again, I graduated already," she said, giving a lazy, one-handed air quote. "So, there was no reason to be here from the jump."
She smiled as the other introduced herself, head tilting ever so slightly as she did the mental math regarding the other being 'new' after being a student from sophomore year. To Rui, the idea of new stopped once the first month passed. By then, everyone was used to your presence and the new kid magic was gone. It was an inconsequential thought, fleeting and unimportant as she quickly moved on to give the younger a smile. "Well, it's nice to meet you just-as-new Jung Jinsoul," she said, finally closing her sketchbook as the covering position grew uncomfortable.
"Since you seem to be so curious though: I'm here in the mornings only, for physical therapy," she continued, glancing down as her service Collie shifted to get comfortable in his place underneath her seat. She'd nearly forgotten he was there with how quiet he could be. "Oh, and this is Splat," she introduced, reaching down to scratch his head. "He's my service boy."
@ˢ⁰⁴ ; kim yugyeom [] LOL it's okay i definitely don't mind lengthy replies !!
during her time as a teacher, minkyung has had the chance to teach people with all kinds of abilities. it took only a few weeks for her to understand that it didn’t matter what kind of abilities you had for you to either excel or at combat. dozens of students with abilities that she thought wouldn’t work in battle had been able to prove her wrong, while students with the most badass abilities had shown her that it took a lot more than that to be good. it took motivation, determination, and most importantly control over your own powers.
unfortunately the last part has always been a hindrance when it came to a certain student’s progress. kim yugyeom, who always seem to be the most excited student in class, has struggled with keeping his powers under control. either his excitement gets the best of him and results in the electricity going out in the classroom or he doesn’t know how to concentrate all of his powers in one task. in minkyung’s eyes it’s sad to see such amazing potential under these circumstances, which is why she has never lost her faith in this particular student. but this time around yugyeom is actually failing her class, the previous test having gone poorly as he hadn’t been able to electrocute a combat dummy with full power. seeing that this is his final year it’s all the more important for him to improve his abilities, not just for the sake of academic success but for his own future as well.
the last lecture of the day is over, and minkyung is packing her things while the students leave the room. the familiar, enthusiastic voice calling her name causes her to look up at the tall, young man, her lips curling into a thin yet rather warm smile.
“ah, yugyeom. i was actually hoping to see you.” she quickly glances at the clock, a thoughtful expression settling on her features, before she looks back at yugyeom. how could she possibly not assist a student who’s obviously more than willing to learn and get better? “of course i want to help you. if it’s about your previous test, you know you have to retake it to improve the grades. lucky for you, i have the rest of the day off. i assume you’re prepared to train some more?”
@ˢ⁰⁴ ; watanabe rui A special case then, Jinsoul concluded with that shake of the other's head. It wasn't as if the headmaster was obliged to tell her everything that happened within the campus, but she knew that he was aware that she liked being told of anything that might have piqued her interest. Oh well, the headmaster must have had his reasons, or knowing him, he deliberately didn't tell her anything. That would have made more sense, honestly. "Two months? Is there a reason why you had to start so late? And away from the other students at that?" she asked. There was a list of reasons laid out in her mind as she asked, and she wondered which one it would be. There was a case of familial and (or) financial circumstances that would have forced a student to be delayed with their students, but there were also other cases, like Jinsoul, personally, who've only been allowed to study because the government finally permitted her to do so.
Watanabe Rui wasn't a name she'd heard too often — if at all — back in the military, though.
Her eyes briefly flickered down to the outstretched hand, and she moved her own to grasp the other's, giving the lady a firm shake. "Watanabe Rui," she repeated, testing the name on her tongue as she nodded in acknowledgement. "Hm, but you're still older than me, so I'll refer to you as an upperclassman. I'm Jung Jinsoul, a junior. I only actually started studying here when I was a sophomore, so I suppose I'm just as new?" Well, Sora Academy was the first normal school she'd ever studied at, but that wasn't something Rui needed to know.
@ᵗ ; kim minkyung [ ] omg im so sorry for this long starter lamgowgw i got hella carried away SOBBING
yugyeom has never been great at testing. whether it is strength, control, combat, etc., he manages to score lowly on all of them. despite his poor marks, he positively shouts about his skills, and it is getting to the point where he isn't able to do that anymore. the results persist at an average level. he meets the minimum requirements and passes his class, but it is now his final year at the academy—he needs to do better.
he knows that his father wouldn't be proud of what he accomplished at the school. of course, there isn't really much to say since he never really /accomplished/ anything. he developed a hero name and suit, but his abilities are lackluster. his abilities aren't underwhelming, but it is more of how he is unable to control it. his father scolds him about it almost every time they meet. the boy can only swallow and nod in agreement. yugyeom may seem like the energetic kid on the outside, but he realizes that his potential will be bigger if he focuses on training.
on this particular day, yugyeom makes an important decision. he'll actually ask one of his fellow professors on how to score better, or rather, make up for his previous test. he failed miserably on the recent one, landing an unsatisfactory result on it. he was obviously devastated, and it was the first time where he actually felt disappointed in himself. these types of things never bothers him, but that exact point released an emotion that he usually never experiences.
he doesn't want another upsetting score, especially with his family observing him from above.
his lecture eventually finished. he immediately hops from his seat and rushes up to the professor. it happens to be miss flexia (or miss kim that he shouts often). she gave him a poor score from their recent testing, and he knows that she's willing to let him retest—at least that's what he is hoping for. "miss kim! miss kim!" he excitedly shouts, taking fast steps down the stairs to reach the center stage. he releases a big sigh, "miss kim, i know that i have asked you multiple times before, but are you able to assist me once more? it is rather late and all, but it is an important matter! i guarantee that it won't damage your schedule, or your presumed break."
@ˢ⁰⁴ ; min yoongi he hissed as rolled up his shirt only to see a deep perse contusion marring his tanned flesh. fuming, he took the eraser off of his desk and chucked at the back of yoongi’s head, who sat a row over and couple seats ahead, “look what you did, you little ,” he cursed in a whisper as the supervisor had ordered them to be silent.
like always, they were back in detention. one insulted the other, they started throwing punches, some snitch reported them a teacher, and they were ordered to serve another detention. at this point, teachers didn’t even waste their breath lecturing them. it was the same thing every week; sometimes multiple time during the week.
@ʲ⁰³ ; jung jinsoul Noticing the other's gaze drift to her sketchbook, she subconsciously moved a hand over it to cover the tragic-looking house. The movement was so natural, something she'd grown so used to in her self-consciousness that it came off as nothing more than a shift for comfort, friendly smile still on her face. She didn't bat an eye-lash at the near emotionless voice emitted from the other, merely shaking her head to confirm that no, she wasn't new despite definitely not being around much. Her schedule was much too tight to spend all day at Sora.
A thoughtful hum escaped as she mulled over the dates in her head, brows furrowing ever so slightly with the effort before she held up two fingers with her chin-resting hand. "Technically two months as of now. Give or take a few days," she responded, idly wiggling the fingers independent of each other while sitting up a bit straighter to make up for the lack of support.
An amused laugh escaped her lips and she nodded, "That's not exactly what someone wants to hear but yeah, yeah I probably am." She held out the same hand, an invitation to shake. "I'm Rui, Watanabe Rui: not really, but technically, a senior since level kind of goes out the door once you've already graduated. You are?"
@ˢ⁰⁴ ; watanabe rui Oh, the student wasn't as quiet as Jinsoul had initially expected the student to be. Her eyes briefly fell upon the sketchbook page that was exposed at the moment, before they moved up to meet the other student's gaze once again. "No?" she repeated, raising an eyebrow as an expression of her surprise. "That's strange. I haven't seen you around that much." She was even more surprised that the other student wasn't the least bothered with her, ah, well, unusual way of speaking. The device by allowed her to speak without using her voice or having to part her lips, but that wasn't simply it — her voice had been tinkered by a good friend of hers (read: an annoying professor), and the voice it gave off, instead of a normal human voice, was something more akin to an AI's. She supposed that didn't really matter to her — it had the same outcome, nevertheless.
"Hmm..." Her hum was a robotic hum, and might have been disorientating, or so that was what the people she had interacted with often said. "Not necessarily need, but I was curious about you. I've seen you a couple of times before, but not enough to have thought of you as a student, so... since you're not new, how long have you been studying here?" she asked. She ignored the fact that the other student didn't know who she was, and she was somewhat used to being familiar to most of the students. After all, she wasn't deaf to their rumors, but she concluded that it was because that the other student was rarely seen or noticed by others that she might not have heard of any of the other students at all.
"You look older than me too... Are you a senior? What's your name?" she asked, cocking her head to the other side as she leaned in a little bit closer.
@ʲ⁰³ ; jung jinsoul Being at home was always suffocating for Rui, or at least it had been for the past handful of years since her accident. It wasn't like she didn't like being around her parents, but with her mom freaking out if she so much as lost her grip on a cup, it was safe to say that the 24-year-old was tired. With all due respect, if she didn't need that sort of constant surveillance, she'd have moved out ages ago. Unfortunately, late night seizures were a commonality in Rui's life and she had no choice but to stay in the nest. Her solution? Returning to Sora after her uni classes finished and long after her physical therapy sessions were done.
This extra down time was often used to continue the things she did in therapy: work on drawing or her martial arts, but she'd been far too tired today for the latter and opted to take up residence in an empty classroom and attempt a box. Brows furrowed, her gaze was focused on the sketchbook page before her as she did her best to pen a straight line. Her hand trembled against her wishes and she tightened her grip on the custom pen in an attempt to gain more control but that only made the tremor worse. Letting out a frustrated sigh, she caught movement in her peripheral: the classroom door. Lifting her head fully, she followed the stranger's movements across the room to where she sat, pulling up a chair and sitting as if she'd been invited to.
A soft, amused chuckle left Rui's lips and she sat her pen down, disconnecting the ink line so it wouldn't get tangled up with her arm as she rested her chin in hand. "I wouldn't say that, no," she responded. "But, hi! Who are you? You need something?"
@ˢ⁰⁴ ; watanabe rui see, jinsoul knew almost everything in the academy. she knew the names of the students and the staff and their powers with perfect accuracy. she knew from which year level each and every student was from, no matter how many students there were, simply from her reading the students' files once while she was at the principal's office. she knew everything there was to know inside the academy, and she took the smallest bit of entertainment from watching everything happen from afar. yes, jinsoul knew almost everything there was to know in the academy, but there was one student that had managed to pique her interest somewhat. a girl who had suddenly appeared one time at the academy, whose presence wasn't exactlly unwanted, but jinsoul was the curious type, one would say.
when she found said student in one of the classrooms after school hours, jinsoul had little to no hesitations as she walked inside the classroom, footsteps light and almost inaudible — but that didn't matter anyway, because when she opened the door, she was already announcing her presence anyway. so she just headed straight to the back of the room where the student was, and without a word (and shame), she pulled a chair from the desk in front of the student and sat on it, facing the senior with her legs crossed, placing her elbows above the table and leaning in a little bit closer. "hi!" she greeted, a nonchalant tone of friendliness lacing her voice. "i haven't seen you much around here — are you perhaps new?"
﹝空﹞— if you've been removed from your character and had them deactivated due to inactivity you may request for them back !! thank you for having been part of us !!
okay So I'd Like Kim Yewon
I am curious about how your idea for electronic melding, is different from Techopathy which your list states is already taken. from the description you gave they sound very similar.
