@ʲ⁰³ ; kim mingyu A hushed word of gratitude rolled off the younger’s tongue to which Wonwoo unmindfully beam at – both corners of his mouth tugged into an angle of glee. The quiet scene was not entirely awkward; there was a hint of interest – and as the librarian had tapped on the last key, logging out all the books from the directory he hesitantly gave the slip—wherein the date of when Mingyu had to return the books was encoded—to the student; his fingers holding on to the piece of paper rather tightly.
Wonwoo’s agreement to do this job was a response to a yearning. As he constantly gained control of his powers, he was able to open portals to specific places—other than the familiar afterlife plane—instead of random planes and places. During his idle times he had seen different sights: big cities, small towns, high mountains, deep oceans – yet all the more he felt alone. For almost eleven years, he had lived in isolation: inside a facility where he was closely monitored. Although he was able to go out without much trouble due to his powers, it was still undeniably different to ‘be there’ rather than just to ‘go there’.
Being there, at that moment, gave Wonwoo a rush. Loosening his grip on the paper he quickly muttered an obscure statement, “I know a place where you can read those—” Realizing he sounded a little too enthusiastic and excited, he lulled his voice, “—books.” Inhaling sharply through his noise, filling his lungs with both air and courage he added, “I could take you there … if you have time, that is.” After holding his stare on the student, when Wonwoo had processed everything that he said, he flickered from where he standing inside the booth to the opposite side, exiting it without much effort.
In his mind, he keeps repeating the objective he has to carry out: observe the students, discover their potential, gain their trust, and persuade them to join the project H.B. has – though his heart was merely hankering for his personal interests of gaining actual friends, holding conversations with people without formalities, and maybe finally stop spanning the whole cosmos for something that will make him ‘feel’. Wonwoo wanted to let go of the burden of having the whole entirety of everything on the palm of his hand to be able to grasp on something more mundane and distinct; and maybe right now—he thinks as he turn towards Mingyu again—it was this fleeting moment he wanted to cage between his interlaced fingers.
@ˢ ; jeon wonwoo jeon wonwoo. that's what the placard on the antique wooden desk has and always will read. mingyu was familiar with the man, but not as familiar as he would be with any other person who happened to cross paths with him. it was somehow impossible for him to not read anyone like an open book with his power - be it intentionally or not - but wonwoo was a rather special case. perhaps it's his power that negates his own, something to do with force fields and planes, but mingyu pushed himself to not think about it. it was nice and comforting having someone that he couldn't feel so easily, and he wouldn't want that to be ruined for him. to be truthful, the student was intrigued with the librarian. for once, he didn't have to mask his knowledge of others and instead could genuinely ask the other how his day was going. he wouldn't get overwhelmed, and could just listen and feel for him instead of actually letting the emotions crawl into the crevices of his heart. of course, all of this was just a dream. mingyu couldn't possibly do that. striking a conversation up with another person is merely an unachievable goal for him.
he waits patiently, deep in thought, as he stares at the mesmerizing swirls of the portal opening that wonwoo had just went through. he's seen it countless of times, the librarian using them to his convenience, but could never get over how beautiful it looked with the harmonious hues of blue and purple interlaced to form a perfect oval. well, beautiful is an understatement. it was magnificent to say the least. he's always wondered how they worked but is and always will be too shy to ask.
the student was struck out of his reverie when wonwoo stepped out of the warp, and his gaze quickly flickered from the now nonexistent portal back to the librarian. he notices the frame now resting delicately on the man's nose bridge and couldn't help but to note to himself how the gold-plated metal goes so well against his pale complexion.
he waits silently and patiently as soft beeping sounds are released while each book is checked out and expects to be handed them as soon as the last one had been scanned. what he got instead was an unfamiliar book now in his view. it was rather big, and thin and judging from the cover, it was easy to see that it was a children's story. but something in him resonated with the illustrated girl in the picture and the bright, illuminating moon in the background and he nods while handing the book back to wonwoo to be scanned as well. he lets out a meek 'thank you' and a little smile in response before he waits.
@ˢ⁰² ; nakamoto yuta Wonwoo had finished his second threat to whoever it was that was posting his pictures on the school’s network – with a frustrated sigh, he pockets his phone and continued to see if the students had put their books back on the proper places. For some odd reason, he could not conjure his portals to save him so much time in doing so but he paid it no heed as it was rather normal for him to have his “limited” days; maybe the H.B. were worried about him blowing his own cover and put him under “limit” again. Though he was not sure how but the H.B. had their own sneaky ways.
With a swift turn of his head, he sees a student from the other end of the aisle he was in. He was holding up his phone and on the screen, he sees himself—it was the picture he had requested to be taken down earlier. ‘Guess I have to speak to Youngho about this myself’, as he remembered that it was Youngho who seemed to have access on such matters. Frowning a little he answered the students query with a rather galled tone, “I’m a man of privacy—I only even made that account because it was compulsory to do so, I did not even plan on using it.” He lets out an exasperated sigh. “Look, kid – I really do not know what’s happening. I think it’s just one of the students playing pranks on me, I mean…” Wonwoo motions his hand from his shoulder down to his knees, “…am the librarian after all. I may have fallen under the category, ‘Staffs Students Hate the Most’.” He sarcastically scoffs.
[ look at wonwoo ,,, having no idea that johnny had been into nothingness because of his powers adkasd i hope this reply is okay uwu ]
@ʲ⁰³ ; kim mingyu Barely out of the opening he had made for himself, Wonwoo looked askance at the blurred physique in front of him. In his head, he was hoping it was a student as he had muttered “kid” without much of an idea who it was that called for his attention. The planewalker awkwardly stifles a chuckle as he completely stepped out of the portal before call upon another: this one connected to his apartment. “Give me a sec, I just got to…” Without bothering to complete his sentence, he immediately swiftly entered the warp gate and made his way to his bedside table—as the portal appeared on his bedroom door, giving whoever it was waiting for him a sight of neatly kept room; he was not worried about anything embarrassing that could have been lying around – although he was already embarrassed he had forgotten to bring his glasses with him earlier today.
As soon as he gets ahold of his spectacles, he slips them on – pushing the rim up his defined nose bridge before swiping the portal close. Now that everything around him was obviously clearer, he faced the idled person. The cogs in his minds, as if applied with machine oil, worked and processed who it was. Mingyu Kim, a junior – if Wonwoo remembers correctly he had the ability of empathy and … well, something about the stars or the moons, he assumes as he looked at the pile of books on the counter. Silently, he worked on logging the books on the computer before he clears his throat and glances at the younger man.
During his daily rounds in the library, he was almost always accompanied by the said student whose hushed but comforting demeanor brought him comfort. It reminded him of one of the simpler planes he frequently visits – it was mostly empty but on the middle, there is a pond. Wonwoo would always sit beside it and just observe it. Thought it was a pond, its depth was almost immeasurable – Wonwoo has never seen its bottom and somehow, it pleads to him: to dive in and see for himself.
Before he could log the last book and dismiss the other with simple parting words, Wonwoo halts himself: a title had come into his mind. With a series of rapid movements, he brings himself to one of the aisles and grabs a book from a high shelf—to which he used a method of a hovering portal and stuck his hand inside to reach—before returning to the counter. “I’ve read this before, think you might like it,” he turns his sharp eyes towards the younger before flashing him a small but reassuring smile. He then finishes logging all the books including the one he added: The Girl Who Drank the Moon.

he glances up from his phone for the third time, even holding it up a little, and yuta hisses in sympathy. so /this/ was the librarian getting his pictures leaked on sora academy's forum. yuta first heard about the gossip from others over lunch, but doubted it--there was only a picture of food, and then a man petting a cat. he hadn't ever seen anyone who looked like that guy before. then again, it was the librarian, and the number of times that yuta has stepped into the library could be counted on one hand. perhaps he wasn't one to talk.
pushing himself up out of his chair from a desk not too far away, yuta emerges from around one of the book cases, deciding that perhaps he should make sure, at the very least, that the issue should be brought up to the rightful owner of such pictures.
"hey," yuta greets hurriedly, offering his phone and pointing to the picture of a man petting the cat, "is that you-- and did you purposely post that there or--?" maybe it was just because this guy loved his cat. or maybe he was hacked. either way, yuta felt nosy and had to know.
@ˢ ; jeon wonwoo it was a busy day, but nothing out of the usual. the school curriculum has always been packed with lessons but mingyu couldn't complain when each one helped him better understand his powers as well as others'. with his limited social skills and rather awkward ways of attempting to talk to people, he needed all the help he could get. he only wishes that were an exaggeration but even getting proper sentences out is a challenge sometimes.
the sound of the school bell rings across the school to signal the end of the day, and students soon fill out the hallways like colonies of ants to either return to their dorms or their respective homes if they were lucky enough. mingyu certainly wasn't. he was stuck in the school for most of his days, studying his hours away since he had no home to go back to. he supposes it's partly an advantage, to not have other commitments when he has a scholarship to maintain. at least that's what he says to convince himself that it's okay.
just like any other day, he waits for the clutter of footsteps to die down, only getting up to leave when the corridors are akin to an abandoned warehouse - empty and almost completely silent. with his bag slung across his body, he makes his way down a routine route, the sound of his footsteps accompanying the little tune coming up his throat and hummed through closed lips.
a familiar pair of wooden doors come into view, and he grabs onto the golden-plated handles to push them open, revealing the grand library sora had in store for its students. mingyu loved being in this space, with the wide array of books and the general serenity that the place provided him with. yes, it was great during school hours but after - god, was it magnificent. there were usually only about two other students around at this time of day excluding himself and he absolutely loved it.
mingyu takes his time, picking out a couple of books for him to read in his free time - most of them related to stars because of his general love for the night sky. he knew a lot about the moon, but he figured the stars were just as important in contributing to the beauty of it.
it's not long before he heads to the counter, gently setting the books down and pushing at the little button on the desk to call for the librarian. he was rather familiar with the man, having seen him more than a couple of times and he had gotten decently comfortable talking to him. it wasn't long before the other arrives through a portal, and mingyu looks up at the sound of his baritone voice that he still couldn't quite get used to. he lifts his hand, now pointing at the pile.
@ˢ⁰² ; hwang yeji "elsa?" is the first thing to leave ryujin's mouth when the other student actually talks to her. she was originally content with just shoving her earbuds in and ignoring the girl, but now she's got her attention. turning to face yeji she leans back and crosses her arms. "you're gonna have to come up with something better than that. frozen is so six years ago." she says, as if neither of them probably watched it when it first came out just like every other kid. shrugging ryujin makes a show of looking around the rest of the library. everyone is absorbed into their own work and, like she had planned herself, most of them either have their headphones in or are too drawn into their books. she turns her gaze back to yeji with an unimpressed expression. "you're the one having a tantrum," her tone is icy, like the rest of her.
"no one else was bothered by it, so why are you? you might want to quiet down yourself before you go yelling at other people for it, sir isaac newton." ryujin can admit that she is more than slightly miffed. after all, yeji, calling her out for having a tantrum? that's rich considering she sees the other girl getting into more fights than anything else every other week.

@ʲ⁰³ ; kim mingyu A month prior to him being assigned at Sora Academy, Wonwoo had the chance to go through every student, teacher, and staff who were to attend that school year. It took him around two weeks before he could finish skimming through each file; familiarizing himself with their names and faces before going through their powers and backgrounds. It was challenging since such task was not really encompassed by his ability – so he worked through it: like a normal, powerless person – with a cat as a company. Wonwoo never deemed himself capable of keeping so much details in his memory, but he at least tried his best to remember basic details.
At present, he finds himself sitting on the librarian’s booth: right at the center of the library where, with a swish of a finger – he would be able to watch everyone through different small portals; he did not opt for that, however. Wonwoo tried his best to act his part, shushing those who would make even the faintest sound and reminding people not to bring (or sneak) their beverages in. He wonders how in the world would he ever get any of these students’ interest if this was a character he could not break: a grumpy and strict librarian.
On one Thursday afternoon, while checking every aisle to see if the books were in their right places, he heard the doors of the library open. Glancing at the time, he saw that school hours was over, to his surprise. Not many people came here after school hours were over – mostly because they all rush to be as far as possible from school; and the library reeked of the smell of school the most.
He heard a voice call out – it was coming from the center, from his booth most probably. Wonwoo was on the far end of the library, but that was no trouble: he concentrated briefly to conjure a portal on his side to which he would pass through in order to get into the booth and respond to whoever it was that needed his assistance. While exiting the portal, he caught a glimpse of who the person was and for a brief moment, he tried to scan through his memory of who it was but it seems like he could not quite pinpoint the exact person – he was familiar though, as if he had seen him one or two times before.
Clearing his throat, he uttered with his baritone voice, “What is it, kid?” Wonwoo tries to keep it as casual as possible when he was talking to students – he wanted to make himself seem approachable but still, the authority is there. The student was still in the middle of catching his breath and so, Wonwoo waited for him to get his composure back and speak.
@ˢ⁰² ; shin ryujin the thing about libraries was that they were usually quiet and void of people yeji didn't want to meet. despite what others might have thought, she was actually quite the diligent student, but well, what others thought of didn't matter. they could mind their own damn business — and they should. she leaned back into her chair, crossing her legs underneath the table, an open book in her hand by the edge of the desk. her desk wasn't as messy as the others around them — instead it was neatly organized, notebook piled upon another book that she had brought to study for today. see, she was here to study, but how could she do that when the girl beside her apparently didn't know that noise wasn't allowed inside the libraries?
she closed her eyes, a look of annoyance washing over her visage as she closed her book, and after placing it above the desk, she turned her head to face the familiar face of the another sophomore. she couldn't quite recall the other's name though, but that didn't matter. she, at least, knew that this student was that ice hero from last year's school festival. "hey you damn elsa," she said, her irritation already lacing her tone. "are you ing blind or some ? don't you know that the library is supposed to be a quiet place? take you and your ing tantrums elsewhere."
@ˢ⁰² ; hwang yeji usually ryujin does her homework back at the dorms, but someone in the room next to hers was being way too noisy, so today she decided to study in the library. there are little cubicles near the back of the building where she likes to sit from time to time, but unfortunately for her most of them are filled today, save for one...which happens to be right next to a cubicle seating none other than hwang yeji, a fellow sophomore that may or may not get on ryujin's nerves more than she'd like to admit.
unable to hold in her sigh at the sight of the other - or, rather, perhaps w a n t i n g yeji to hear her - ryujin loudly drops her things onto the table of her cubicle before gently placing her iced coffee next to the thick binder and textbooks. she even, out of pettiness, scrapes her chair along the floor as she pulls it out to sit down, hoping the other girl gets the message. she's not happy about having to sit next to her.

I am curious about how your idea for electronic melding, is different from Techopathy which your list states is already taken. from the description you gave they sound very similar.
