@✿ p. chaeyoung "I don't think tax is the last of my worries, although if that allows me to see you yell at me at court, I'd be more than happy to admit." head tilting towards her with a cheeky grin. He watched her features change at the topic of marriage, and felt only a tad bit of guilt that it was a heavy topic for her, which that feeling grew seeing the corners of her lips downturned. "Congress Lee you say," Dejun swirled his melting ice cube trying to put a face to the name. "Ah.." The face appeared after much thought and he let out a slight snicker knowing all too well of that man's nightlife activities. One of which was expected in this world. since he was no saint himself. "He wouldn't be able to handle you, Ms. Park." Dejun motioned at the lady. He's seen the girls men liked on this playing field, and she was not one. "Me? Hmm, you can say both." He turned to gaze at the crowd with his back leaning against the bar ledge. "On a good day you can say I find some new clients, and if I'm lucky I get to take a prize home." As if on cue, he did see someone he's had a night with and shot a small smile and brief wave, before turning back to Chaeyoung. "Although they are participation ribbons if you will, not really trophy types." pausing he briefly glanced back down at her dress "What does it take for me to take the nation's beloved prosecutor home though?" Leaning closer he slowly hovered her shoulder as respectfully as he could. "Perhaps then I can share the definition of 'whatever I do' with you." with a low chuckle he leaned back and turned to get the attention of the bartender again. "Whiskey sour for me, and for the lady?" He peaked over to Chaeyoung to fill the blanks.
@✿ x. dejun She mirrors his actions by taking a sip out of her own glass as well, although the tang of sourness from the lime causes her lips to purse together. "Two bodies of water? Make sure to pay your property tax correctly. I don't want to see you at work." The sentence was half a truth. In the world of the rich, tax evasion was common, although they weren't necessarily the types of cases she liked to handle. His mention of her parents and the topic of marriage causes her to narrow her eyes at him, an eyebrow upturned inquisitively as if wondering why he chose to open that can of worms two sentences into their conversation. "Worse," she admits, lips falling into a small frown, "it was either attending this gala or going on a date with Congressman Lee's son." There was absolutely nothing wrong with said man, if Chaeyoung were to be honest, but she's never been a fan of arranged meetings. The prosecutor would rather attend a dozen of these stupid elite functions than sit through a meal with some high-class snob. "But what brings you here? Scouting more investors for... whatever you do? Or are you looking for a trophy wife too?"
@✿ p. chaeyoung Eyes scanning down her figure after she faced him, he felt a small itch at the back of his throat that forced him to clear it immediately. He quickly glanced back at the lady’s face with a crooked smile. “Salut,” Dejun tapped her glass lightly with a nod before turning to take a slow sip. the residue of the fine whiskey off his lips he let out a low chuckle from her claims. “Well,” he reached to brush back the strands of his hair. “Exactly 2 bodies of water, both of which I own.” Straightening his shoulders, Dejun motioned at her with his glass. “Enough about my lack of social responsibility, what threats did your parents give for you to be present today? Was it the ol’ reliable marriage talk?” He knew that in the world of authority and elite that most of the women, unfortunately, were used as pawns. Not Chaeyoung though, and through passing, he found out she held her own, which was not something he saw too often. He was always impressed with any public information reported about her, however something he will admit is that he was not used to her sharp tongue, and for someone who he only saw at events, he was taken aback that she did not hold back
@✿ x. dejun "From the man a few seats down in the navy blue suit," the bartender announces, snapping the attorney out of her trance and away from her thoughts, sliding what seemed to be a Cosmo towards her. Funny. It was the third one sent her way tonight, and she'd only arrived to the gala half an hour ago. The first man was a sleaze, a friend of her cousin who'd been trying to get under her skirt since their junior year of high school, while the second one had been new money, an entrepreneur whose sudden rise into wealth had solidified his need for a trophy wife that came from old money. It was interesting to see the likes of men who boldly asked for a chat from her, for they were either desperate, or hadn't connected her infamous name to her pretty little face. And while she's never required to, she wonders what type of gentleman she'd be entertaining in a conversation with this time. Chaeyoung hears the familiar voice before she even looks his way and she resists the urge to roll her eyes as she turns to look at him. "What a surprise. Almost like this isn't the exact type of event we'd run into each other at, huh?" She responds smoothly, scrunching her nose at him as she grabs the glass off the counter and holds it up towards him as if for a cheer. "My dress doesn't compare to the amount of damage you do. How many bodies of water have you polluted with that excessive hair gel usage of yours?"
@✿ p. chaeyoung The still humid air did not help Dejun as he bitterly stepped out of his air-conditioned Bentley. "Be back the minute this event is done. Rather yet, come a minute before it ends. I don't want to be present somewhere I don't want to be any longer than necessary," he muttered to his driver before shutting the door behind him. His arms stretched out as he fixed the navy blue cuffs of his suit before straightening his satin tie all while he walked towards the venue. It was one of those annual charity galas where anyone who was anyone would mingle, donate, and play a game of who's was bigger. A pissing contest if you will. This year's charity theme was saving the planet, which quite honestly Dejun rolled his eyes over as he knew that everyone at this event had contributed to most of the carbon footprint in the country. But he knew a select few important clients were at the event and it wouldn't be right if he didn't show face. Stepping forward to the beautifully decorated space, Dejun scanned the crowd, nodding to a few that caught his eye, until he saw what he was looking for, the bar. An old fashion is exactly what he needed to help him get some words flowing, and with that, he took quick strides over. As he waited for his drink, he noticed a familiar silhouette accompany him at the bar, he leaned on his side and tried to get a better look, only for him to scoff slightly. Dejun slid a bill to the bartender as he retrieved his drink. "A cosmopolitan for the blonde over there kind sir." After he thanked the man, he tilted the glass towards his dry lips, and felt the golden liquid warm his insides, and awaken his clouded mind. He made his way over to the figure, before calling out to her. "Fancy meeting you here, and how are you reducing your carbon footprint in a dress like that?"
