@✿ j. kiyong There is something about Jang Kiyong that intrigued her from the very first moment she had interacted with him in the public general chatroom of Yours Truly. Like a moth drawn to a flame, slowly but surely, she had felt compelled to him in ways she couldn't control. And he was handsome; she knew that from his profile. But what Miyeon didn't expect was to get the air knocked out of her lungs when she actually met with him in person.
He's gorgeous, she thinks, and her heart flutters. She's had her fair share of moments where her heart raced, but she's never experienced this. A single glance at a man she's only met today has butterflies erupting within her stomach as if it's an automatic reaction. It's a fact scares her like nothing ever has before. But her body reacts to his automatically, a smile emerging on her lips to mirror his own, before he takes her into his arms and she wraps her arms around his waist.
She'd been hugged before, but never like this. His embrace is gentle yet firm, and every ounce of hers in pressed into every ounce of his. As if holding her wasn't quite enough, as if their bodies are getting acquainted just as they are. The message is clear: he had wanted this just as much as she did. It brings her comfort, and his jest had dulcet laughter leave her rosy lips. "That's another thing added onto the list of things we said we'd do with each other. We'd better get going then, if we're going to get all that done on our first date."
She pulls away slightly to look up at him, her gentle gaze meeting his own, and she does her best to maintain her composure as another round of butterflies swarm around her stomach. "And for the record, Kiy? I think I like your hugs."
@✿ c. miyeon Kiyong did not miss a single thing from the wall. As crazy at it sounds, he'd like to think he's gotten to know her a bit better through the momentary glimpse into her life — moments she cherish, people she holds dear and what she takes pride on. Those can tell a lot about someone, right? And of all the things before him, his eyes were fixated on this slightly faded picture of her with her parents. He smiles to himself, trying to see which one she takes after. Until he hears an unfamiliar yet sweet voice coming from behind, one he would want to hear more often from here on. It's her.
He was not prepared for a Cho Miyeon. Funny how panic ensues at her question when he himself instigated it. His insides start to feel as if they were being twisted into endless knots. This is far from what he thought he would react like when this point arrives. So much for being confident. Should he turn now? Should he hold her loosely? Tight? Will she mind if he does? The man badly needs a slap to shove some sense in him. After all, this is what he has been hoping and praying for a while.
With a deep breath, he turns and sees Miyeon for the first time. Every other thought becomes irrelevant, obsolete when she stands right before him. Brown eyes stare right into hers, embracing the idea of not having to look at a mere screen for hours anymore. His smile grows, eyes forming crescents. It took him a second or two before he managed to take a step closer, even more 'til no space was left. His firm arms wrap around her waist, pulling the other gently against his frame.
All tension melts away when he decides not to hold back, a hand running along her spine upwards, shameless in letting her know he'd been wanting this all along. Chin rested on her shoulder, he mumbles. "I'm expecting that ID picture printed. Or better yet, we can take a snap together and have that printed instead. Hope the briefing didn't starve you too much, beautiful." He gives her a little squeeze,
@✿ j. kiyong Miyeon is nervous — or would that be an understatement? Would that even be the correct word for everything she's feeling right now? Excitement, eagerness, anxiousness. All of those words could work, too. Perhaps it's not even an emotion she can simplify into one word. But nervousness is pretty darn close to it. And how could she not be, when everything she's been imagining for the past two months would all manifest into reality this very day?
Truth to be told, since the moment she had first received a notification that Jang Kiyong had swiped on her, the said man hasn't once left her mind. He was there through it all — the various moments in a day in which notifications from him popped up on her screen, the fleeting thoughts when she passed by something she thought he would enjoy, the long duration of time the Yours Truly app was down for maintenance, the sleepless nights where the what-ifs haunted her, everything.
And yet, despite it all, they had found their way back to one another. That alone should be more than enough reassurance for her, right? The knowledge that evidently proved that they both wanted to make this work? But, for some reason, it only amplifies the butterflies churning in her stomach as she pauses right outside of her own office door. Miyeon takes a deep breath as she quietly opens the door and walks in, making sure her steps are light so the sound of her heels don't ricochet on the office floor and inform him of her arrival.
Doing her best to avoid being caught by him through the reflection on her TV screen, she creeps up behind the man who's immersed in looking through her wall of little mementos. "So where's the hug you were offering?"
@✿ c. miyeon Not everyone gets a second chance on things they missed out on. And when they do, it's either a hit or miss. So having one right now made Kiyong simply the happiest, swearing on his favorite Lego not to let this go to waste. Almost two months of waiting had him thinking he'd be fully prepared to meet Miyeon, the only woman he initiated a swipe on — and the cause of his ceaseless smiles lately. If only that's the case.
Following this kind, middle-aged lady he had asked earlier, he takes steady steps along the hallway, shoulders barely moving. It was wide enough for about five people to stand side by side. Yet he feels suffocated, the pounding of his heart reaching his head, knees turning into jelly. His mind decides to join the fun, fabricating a whole collection of different scenarios, good and bad. He could only take a deep breath. Much to his relief, the woman turns, giving further instructions and saving him from that loop.
Doing as he's told, he soon finds himself in Miyeon's office. And boy was it far from what he had in mind. To be fair, he hasn't been into one so he thought it would be messy, overcome with the scent of newly printed documents or old books maybe. But hers could pass as a hotel room. Kiyong looks around, taking note of every small detail of the place which momentarily shakes the nerves away. Walking along the dark shelves with their upper side warmly lit, he finds what he sees as a mini preview of how her life was and it's beautiful. He couldn't help but smile at everything — her pictures, articles about her work and these gifts that he assumes are from the people she helped. She's well-loved, indeed.
And before proceeding with his tour down her memory lane, he sends her one last message, unable to hide the fact that he's dying to finally meet her.
