He was her only sibling, her mother often teasing that when he was a baby she guarded his crib day and night, eager to hold him, eager to watch their mother feed him, eager to see him grow. Even with the stress of adulthood, the nearly intolerable change in hormones and not only growing into a woman but into a wizard at that, the two siblings still stuck to each other like glue. That's why the second Eden had received the text message from her brother she completely abandoned her plans for the afternoon and sought the location that he had mentioned, nearly forgetting her bag even after shoving her notes inside of it.

Eden had arrived less than five minutes after her brother, immediately frowning without having a clue what had gotten him so worked up. "Marci, che succede?" She started gently, quick to shut the door behind them and scoop as much of his body into her much smaller arms as she could. "Tell me what happened. Did somebody hit you?" She ran her fingers through his long locks of hair once, panic beginning to set in when she eventually held his face, softly turning him side to side to examine his skin for any marks.

There wasn't much room for privacy in their house's dorm area, and any number of the classrooms could be occupied at any time. Plus, he wasn't trying to get himself into trouble for breaking into an unoccupied room. So, he shot his sister a text to meet him in the girl's lavatory on the second floor; it was out of order, so surely they would be alone.

Marcello had kept his tears at bay long enough to close the door and sink down against the opposite wall, covering his face with his hands. No matter how hard he tried, he would never be good enough for his father. It stung, to always seek approval he knew would never come. Why he even still bothered trying, he had no clue. Nevertheless, he did anyhow. It was... soul crushing, frankly.
