/its snowing since its still winter and cold, a chill in the air but it can't be too cold otherwise the soft white flakes wouldn't be falling
/a couple more years i tell myself, that's all that's left of this place for me to complete before i can hopefully leave, to another country, i don't know and i don't care, i just want out
/but for now i find somewhere that's comforting to me, the clocktower courtyard being just that, my raven with me and flying between the old stone archway
/the clipped sound of the heels on my boots can be heard as i walk, at least until i step out into the snow and the frost on my breath plumes in front of me
/my cane under my left hand helps me traverse the snow a little more as i cross the courtyard, heading for the peach tree growing in one corner
/standing beneath it i look up at the branches, barren of leaves, of fruit but not life, reaching a gloved hand out to touch at the trunk before i hear barking and its getting louder
/lifting my face i turn my head and glance over my shoulder to where i've been walking, calanthe - my raven, circling above my before she lands on one of my shoulders and watches me, near blending in with my white hair
and what do we have here?
/asks as i look down at the little dog, tilting my head at it before i have it jumping at me, snowy paws on my cloak and i smile a bit, golden eyes admiring the creature
its cold out here
come
/sweeping the animal up into my free hand i tuck it under my cloak, watching it snuggle into the crook of my arm as if it belongs there, my raven not looking too impressed
be kind, calanthe. its a dog, loyal to the point of a fault, nothing like you, pretty bird
/snapping her beak at me to tell me what she thinks of my words i chuckle at her actions, but she nuzzles my cheek soon after and stays with me as i find a seat just out of the snow but able to watch it still
