@✵ maekawa isekai〘ᴋɪᴏɴ〙ˣ.ᶜʰᵃᵒˢ The sudden weight upon her head caused Xiaoyu to jump as her hand instinctively moved to wack the body next to her, only stopping when she turned to see who had touched her. Relief filled her at the sight of him, his voice easily recognizable to her. “Dummy. I could have hit you, startling me like that. What if I had screamed?” Xiao rolled her eyes but smiled despite herself because he showed up. She took a moment to look over him, trying to carve him into her memory, for the truth was she wasn’t sure when the next time they’d be able to hang out would be.
The mask was a stark reminder that things had changed between them and that they needed to be more cautious. Yet another reason why, while unable to stop her disappointment, she understood his inability to spend as much time with her as before. Still, she’d take what she could get and she quickly, albeit playfully, swatted his hand away from her head. “Yeah yeah, you talk big but can you back it up?” She grinned mischievously, standing up with the bag and box in her hand, carefully balancing the two as she tugged him to a more secluded area. “I want to show you what I found first. The owner got these only recently and I just /had/ to play it. But I thought we could play together.”
She stopped in front of a shooting game, the words Resident Evil clear as day. “Oh! And before I forget! I figured you probably forgot…again…so-” She opened the box, revealing a homemade cake before pulling out a candle and lighting it. She carefully held it out towards him as she softly sang Happy Birthday in Japanese with a smile, waiting for him to blow out the candle and make his wish.
@✿ liu xiaoyu ᶠᵃⁿ there was a sort of glimmer in kion’s eyes that hadn’t been present in a while. a sort of rekindled innocence that revelled in what soon became a luxury to enjoy as an idol, compared to the numerous times the arcade had come to be a safe ground for not just him, but many of the friends he would have made over the years as a trainee. xiao of all people most especially. by the time he had concluded feasting his eyes from one game station to another, relief settling upon his shoulders in not much fortunately changing since his last visit, his eyes are soon locked upon the main reason he had decided to stop by in the first place. “lil’ bow wow,” he soon called out to her after making it a point to sneak up on the girl who easily stuck out amongst the crowd of people in the vicinity. his hand automatically finding its place to rest atop of her head where he would bestow a couple of pats for the unspoken reassurance that now he was here, he was here to stay for as much as he genuinely could. “just like old times, you’re so real for that– not much about this place has changed one bit! except for the scoreboards.. but good thing i’m here now so i can really show you what a good score’s all about, huh?” he taunted, the beaming smile obvious beneath the stygian mask he wore in hopes to conceal his identity, now that he was actually somebody with a reputation to be cautious of.
@✵ maekawa isekai〘ᴋɪᴏɴ〙ˣ.ᶜʰᵃᵒˢ A sense of relief filled Xiaoyu as she looked at her phone, the text causing her to release a breath she hadn't even realized she had been holding. If she was being honest, a part of her truly did expect him to bail on her, something he seemed to do more and more often these days. She tried to be understanding, he was an idol now after all, he simply didn't have the same free time he once had and she knew that. But the recent discovery of his seeming closeness with Jang Wonyoung made her suspicious about his excuses as much as she didn't want to believe it.
No.
She really needed to stop giving that girl so much thought and brainpower. Especially today. It didn't matter anyway, because he was on the way to /her/. They could hang out and game like old times, filled with laughter and banter as usual. And she could give...she glanced at the box and bag that rested on the table next to her, a soft smile pulling at her lips. It was his birthday, and his gift was something that she had been planning for a while, even taking classes to learn how to do it herself rather than just order it. Was it a lot of work to put in for just a friend? Probably, and Xiaoyu wouldn't acknowledge that her feelings played a part. Nevertheless, she was excited to give them to him and knew that even if he hated it, at least they could still acknowledge his birthday and celebrate it. Maybe she'll even let him win at some games.
