@ji hyunbin "hey, it would be more odd if you didn't!" she jests, smiling cheekily at hyunbin. "for every time we get together, you would always bring a bottle of wine. i mean, i would know since i tend to keep the labels of the wine bottle for my junk journal." she shyly explains, avoiding his gaze at the confession. he knew of her love for notebooks and collecting the labels of the things she deems as memorable, and their get togethers like this is no exception.

"spanish wine is great! this is the same brand i first tasted. immediately knew you would like this. probably, anyways." she says, crossing her legs into a comfortable position. most of the time, her demeanor would be professional and adult-like, but with hyunbin around, she feels like it's okay to be childish; it's okay to let her guard down. he was her person anyways, her sense of comfort personified in the tiny sea of people she encounters here at wineport on the daily.

she nods eagerly at his statement. "oh i will! i have one client in paris—" her sentence was cut in the middle as she felt his fingers brush against her hair. it wasn't unusual for the two of them to be affectionate, but given her hidden feelings for the male, it was hard to hide her reaction to his actions sometimes. she hides it with a cough, hoping hyunbin wouldn't notice the light dusting of pink decorating her cheeks. "as i was saying, i have a client in london who booked me for a few days then i'll be at new york then finally to paris for a few weeks after that."

her expression turns concerned at his words, instinctively leaning towards male to give him gentle headpats, something she always had done as an action of comfort for him. "bean, even on my days where our timezones don't meet, if you need someone, i'll always be here. your one call away." she says, sincerity dripping from her words. "but i'm glad work has been a good distraction for you, bean. just don't overdo it, please?" she pleads, shooting him a small grin. "of course! what's a little problem when you have wine with you, right?"

doyeon looks at hyunbin surprised as he dropped the bag on her lap, hands expecting the bag in silence. her fingers make quick work of opening the bag and immediately finds the notebook hidden under the snacks. "no way you didn't!" she exclaims excitedly, pulling it out and looks at intricacies of the gift. she gasps at the sight of the paper, immediately knowing it was handmade. "this is so beautiful! thank you so much, bean!" she says, reaching over to hug the older. "i promise to take care of this with my life."

@kim doyeon he was absolutely smitten by the way she knew him so well, rolling his eyes playfully as he flashed a smile from ear to ear. "how did you know i brought more wine?" he asked, feigning astonishment, but keeping a smug twinkle in his eye, knowing there was more than just wine in the bag, then he hummed happily in response to the descript of her wine, "ooh, spanish wine sounds great!"

he followed her lead, settling on the couch comfortably as he leaned back, manspreading like nobody's business with a large exhale. he melted into his seat, mirroring doyeon as he grabbed a pillow over his lap (especially since it was poor manners to be spreading his legs out like that in front of a lady). he set his focaccia down and gazed over at doyeon with a big lazy smile. in wineport, there was nowhere that felt more like home than in doyeon's presence. his body leaned toward her as he listened to her catch him up on her current events.

"you sound like you're about to be realll busy," he commented, taking a look at her pallor, then leaned over to brush his fingers over her hair to get a good gander at her, "don't forget to take care of yourself during your busy season." his lips pursed into a small pout. he didn't want her to overwork herself, especially when there was nothing he could do about it all.

hyunbin took a deep breath, deflating over the couch as he turned his entire body toward her, snuggling close to the pillow he picked up for comfort. he closed his eyes as he shook his head in defeat. "keep busy is what's saving me these days," he sighed with a wry smile, resting his head on the back of the couch, "can't think about my problems if i keep going, you know." this side of hyunbin was a side almost nobody got to see. small and vulnerable. he looked up at doyeon with his glassy eyes. he was glad to have her in his life, just a little support was enough to push him through. "but i'll get over it with time," he reassured, "that's what the wine is for, right?"

his mood quickly shifted as he straightened up his posture and grabbed the gift bag he brought for doyeon. "i brought snacks, too, so go on and dig in," he instructed as he plopped the gift onto her lap, "there's more than just wine in there."

@ji hyunbin doyeon was casually scrolling through her phone while waiting for hyunbin, enjoying the peacefulness of her humble abode when her heart picked up at the familiar sound of male's voice breaking the silence of her quiet home. her head turns to the source of the sound and a big smile forms on her lips, heart skipping a bit at the sight of her best friend. "hyunbin!" she returns his call out, standing up from her spot to meet him along the way, immediately finding her way into his arms for a friendly hug. "hey there, person." she greets, the smile never leaving her brims.

the girls brown eyes scan his features for a quick second before looking down at the gift bag he had just set down. something about hyunbin just brings out the little girl in her, a small pit of excitement forming at the bottom of her stomach as she wondered what he got her again. even before, the elder would buy gifts for her when they were still living under one roof— despite her protests, he would still leave little gifts every now and then for her; seems like the tradition hasn't stopped at all. "hmm.. let me guess! you got another bottle of wine, huh?" she jested. "the more wine, the better, am i right? the bottle i have for you was from when i went to spain a few weeks ago."

being wrapped in his arms still, doyeon slowly nodded at his query. "it is done! i didn't wait too long, don't worry. the pasta is still warm too so you're all good, bean." she reassures the male as she turns her head to follow the scent of the focaccia. "i can't wait to taste that bread you've baked though." she says, being the first to break the hug after giving his frame one final squeeze before gesturing him to sit on her couch.

"i've been good, bean. just a little busy with all the clients requesting for me since the fashion community decided to hold their fashion weeks so close together." she joked, finding her way back to sit down, taking a pillow to embrace. "how have you been, though? i hope you've been taking care of yourself despite your busy days." she says, her gaze softening at hyunbin, studying his features.

@kim doyeon the scent of bread and herbs wafted through the car despite hyunbin wrapping the freshly baked focaccia in foil and sealing it inside plastic tupperware. hyunbin secured the tupperware in the passenger seat with the seatbelt, then he felt his phone vibrate with a series of new texts from doyeon. he read them quickly in succession and stated, "well, that's my cue to get going," he slapped the focaccia in place, making sure it wouldn't slide out of its seat before heading over to doyeon's.

beep, beep, boop! the door unlocked without a hitch - it was the same passcode he still used after all. "doyeon!" he called out with one hand holding a large gift bag and the other with the focaccia, taking off his shoes at the foyer casually with a big smile on his face as he opened his arms up for a big friendly hug as he caught her eye, "hey, you!"

he set down the gift bag, which included a local bottle of wine he picked up during his quick work trip to italy along with a nice assortment of snacks. doyeon already had a bottle waiting for him, but what's more the harm of more wine when it came to her? then, stuffed rather carelessly at the bottom of the bag was a thick leather journal stamped with a single daisy on the front. the journal was filled with a year's worth of handmade paper, wrapped closed by a leather string, which tucked into itself with a decorative key tied at the end. it was exactly the sort of cheesy thing doyeon loved and he couldn't skip past it after laying his eyes on it. he'd meant to give it to her earlier, but late is better than never, right?

"how have you been?" he asked as he wrapped her up in his arms, the wafting scent of bread and herbs hovering over her shoulder as he continued to hold onto his precious food baby. hyunbin sniffed the air and followed the scent of pasta, asking, "oh, is pasta already done? you didn't wait for me too long, did you?"

to say that doyeon was filled with excitement to be spending time with hyunbin would be an understatement; the girl was feeling all sorts of emotions to finally see her person. taking one final look at herself on the camera of her phone, she was feeling ready to finally see him. it’s been weeks since the two of them spent some time together, both busy with their personal schedules, this meeting of theirs was long overdue.

having friendly dinner dates was a tradition of theirs when they were roommates, talking about even the most mundane things about their day. even on the night where doyeon finally moved out to have her own place, the dates still continued. she might even say that it made their bond grow even stronger.

“okay, bin would be here any moment from now.” she mumbles to herself, taking another look at the clock before making herself comfy on the couch, eyes settling on the simple set up she had of two plates filled with her pasta and the special wine she had bought specifically for this occasion (and for him, even if she doesn’t want to admit the latter.)
