Hyeri had always loved the kitchens, as long as she could remember. Possibly because most of her previous lives were spent in kitchens cooking up nourishing foods for new mothers, foods that went down easy on the stomach. That or boiling water for medicine, baths, laundry. Nowadays, these new inventions made laundry day as short as a matter of hours, baths could be taken as long as was needed.

Not to mention how every shelter seemed to have her father Zeus' touch. Eileithyia had once tried talking to the sparks that must have surely come from her father, the only way she knew how. Finding the source and putting a metal object close to it. The resulting shock startled her and pained her hand for a day or so, but the reactions of the mortals around her showed that that probably wasn't the best idea. The goddess had been locked up in one of their "asylums" for the duration of her human vessel's life. Wasn't very long, considering. A few decades at most, a blink of an eye for one as old as she. The things she learned there were quite useful, though. Fancy these people locking away their impaired whereas they'd have abandoned the children in the mountains, back in her day.

At any rate, Hyeri thought, heading towards the kitchens, losing oneself in thought wasn't the optimal hobby. Had once wasted away a perfectly good vessel doing that once. Luckily that vessel didn't seem to have any attachments and always felt strongly of poppies, even into the marrow and the brain. Wasn't too hard to let the vessel slip away in thoughts of lives long past. Handy lives, to be sure. The vessels who lived on the streets seemed to be the best chances at evading Hera... Eileithyia had spend several lifetimes of these street folk, living among them, learning their ways, all the while providing some help of her own.

Another turn, and Hyeri found herself in the kitchen, looking up and around at everything. This wasn't exactly a home, not really. Seemed like one of those places where people lived for a short time before returning to their old homes. Hyeri didn't have an old home, though, not as such. She had homes scattered throughout the world, under different names, of course, all places where a person of her looks and stature wouldn't stand out. Quite a lot of memories, those houses had. Spelled against detection from even a goddess of such high stature as Hera, thanks to her brothers and sisters (half-blood or not, they were still family as long as they didn't try to kill her).

Hyeri snapped to the present only to find herself staring down at a bunch of assorted ingredients. Beef what was hard frozen (not the top cut, but still a good one), carrots, potatoes, onions, spices of all kinds - even some sweeter ones which made her button nose crinkle up just a bit. Flour, butter, milk. Eggs, bacon, sausages. Lots and lots of things that didn't seem to fit together, but they were all here for some reason. Now it was time to figure out what that reason was.

It didn't really help that everything was arranged in a random pattern that made absolutely no sense, but she couldn't bring herself to move anything out of place. There was something to the madness. There had to be. There was always something to the madness
