library

Whether you come here to study, read, or work, this library is a place of peace. A powerful entity's presence hangs between the shelves...

✧ an jianhong 11 months ago
@✧ bai hao lan Gaze coming to rest upon that of the dragon, the faint smile never left Jianhong’s lips as they spoke, a silent giveaway of his constant admiration. “Thank you, it’s only the truth. I’ve never laid my eyes on anyone sweeter, love.” The nymph as all too happy to press his cheek into the soft hand that welcomed him into the touch, melting against it as if he were the one with the icy exterior. “That sounds wonderful, baobei. We can get a taste for the party, spend a little of the evening there and then unwind together later on? I can’t wait to watch the sun rise for another wonderful year together. Have you thought of any wishes for the future? Resolutions, goals, anything that comes to mind that you’d like to do?”
✧ bai hao lan 11 months ago
@✧ an jianhong "You certainly will." Haolan mused, a soft laugh falling past the dragon's thin lips as Jianhong seated himself beside him and his lover's hands began trailing down to brush over his throat. The dragon's eyes fluttering open, his beloved's touch brushing over the dragon's slow heartbeat, the faint flush of pink to his ears was the only tell-tale sign of haolan's flustered state. His eyes trailing off to glance to the side in sheepish nature, "you and your sweet mouth." Haolan shook his head with a low chuckle, although he continued to listen, staring into the eyes of his lover as Haolan reached out a cold hand to brush over Jianhong's cheek. Slender digits caressing over his cheek until he finally spoke up. "I was invited as well to the party. Ziminiar has always been incredibly kind taking me in after I had been cast out. We can stay for a few hours to be polite."
✧ an jianhong 11 months ago
@✧ bai hao lan Heating the faint rumbling coming from his dragon, Jianhong felt his heart skip a beat, warmth flooding him as it might when gaining the reward of a cat purring for the petting it received. “Good, I will certainly do my best to look the part of fearsome and intimidating, my love.” Missing nothing, and certainly not letting the opportunity to go untaken, Jianhong settled comfortably beside the dragon, where his fingers moved down to begin a gentle rhythm of brushing up and down the man’s throat with a cheeky smile. “They remind me each and every day that the most divinely beautiful man awaits my company, so I’m always quick to run and give him it. But besides the obvious… the city seems more at ease than it has been for a while. Oh- the mayor is preparing for his party, actually. They say it will quite grand. I would like to go together again, if you would be up for it? Or, we could stay and see the new year in privately together, of course baobei.”
✧ bai hao lan 11 months ago
@✧ an jianhong Haolan's dark eyes fluttered shut at the touch of his dearest Nymph's forehead, the dragon's throat nearly rumbling in a purr-like noise as he breathed in the man's scent--quelling the dragon's own rumbling heart and allowing for amusement to replace the dragon's features as he heard the nymph's words. "I will let them know that a fearsome nymph who visits me every day will scold them for me the next time they do." Haolan mused, eyes curved into crescents. But very quickly, Haolan shuddered at the shift, his beloved's voice lowering and there was now a hint of a rumble that seemed to always have Haolan breathless without even trying. How cruel. The dragon closed his eyes, crimson earring glittering in the amber light as he pressed a soft--cold kiss against his beloved's palm. "May I ask what it is the sparrows have been gossiping?"
✧ an jianhong 11 months ago
@✧ bai hao lan The cold that invited him was always strangely inviting. Never biting enough to make him draw back, but rather fill him with a desire to wrap the dragon up and squeeze him close, to let him know a warmth was there to welcome him whenever he even vaguely desired it. As his lover spoke, the nymph tilted his head to rest gently against Haolan’s temple, simply enjoying being close and sharing in the space of the man. “You haven’t been having issues with fire sprites again, have you? I’ll line them all up and scold them for you, love.” He knew, of course that only a fool wouldn’t quake before the wrath of the composed dragon, especially when daring to invade his domain. His own voice lowering to match in a gravelly murmur, shifting to gaze properly at the man again he responded, “also fairly well. I’ve been finishing up helping my garden die back well for the winter. The sparrows have been gossiping again, as usual.”
✧ bai hao lan 11 months ago
@✧ an jianhong Warmth. For a dragon who knew only the embrace of the cold from the northern seas--Jianhong was the warm spring. Melting away the phoenix-eyed dragon's heart as a gentle smile of his own graced the dragon's sharp features. "An Xia," Haolan called again, the ever permanent frost that followed and over old god's an old companion characteristic to the caves he had ascended within melting away enough not to nip at his beloved's fingers as he reached out to brush over the dragon's cheek. His head turned into the nymph's touch, delicately warm. Ever so inviting as he melted at the brush of his lips upon the dragon's snowy cheek. "fairly well, considering lio hasn't climb in through the windows or none of the fire sprites had set any of the tomes on fire." Haolan mused, his honeyed voice lowering into a whisper as he peered up into the eyes of the man who owned his heart. "and you, my love?"
✧ an jianhong 11 months ago
@✧ bai hao lan The call of his name from the divinely familiar voice beckoned him only further still into the library, until he came upon his beloved, greeting him with an expression void of anything but loving warmth. The smile on his lips wasn’t greeting enough to satisfy him - he swept to the dragon’s side to brush his fingers over one of the man’s frosty cheeks, moving him close to brush his lips upon the other cheek. “How has the day been treating you, my love?”
✧ bai hao lan 11 months ago
@✧ an jianhong "An Xia." The dragon called within the furthest corners of the library, deep within the ancient tomes and scrolls, deep within the archives of many millennia. Setting down the scroll he had quickly grabbed after he had sent that text, Haolan's heart was thundering, it was bold. A far bolder move than Haolan had anticipated and to say he did not expect for the love of his long life to arrive as quickly as he did would be a lie. He /had/ expected it. But he didn't quite expect for Jianhong to arrive as quickly as he did. "I'm here."
✧ an jianhong 11 months ago
@✧ bai hao lan To say he hadn’t scrambled from his home to head for the library would be a lie. Worn fingertips eased the door open, slipping inside and then closing it behind him, welcomed by the serenity of the library. With a knowing smile, he made for its deepest recesses, seeking out the sweet owner of the hoard. “Bai Qiu?”
✧ lee youngmi 1 year ago
@✧ gisela yavetz His cunning plan was foiled the moment he was scolded for his lurking - the angel’s eyes widened some and he shuffled after Gisela, keeping in pace with him down the path towards the end of the library’s grounds. “I’m sorry - you’re just never home whenever I go and knock on the door, so I thought this would be the only place that I might’ve actually found you.”

It had worked, in a way, he had indeed managed to track down the vampire like he’d been hoping, even if the confrontational aspect hadn’t gone as he’d planned it out in his head. With an apologetic little smile Youngmi straightened up again, rolling his shoulders back in a movement that would’ve ruffled his golden feathers soothingly had they not been hidden away. To, of course, make this look less like a confrontation - sometimes the presence of six big wings made people comfortable, and he didn’t want that.

“Oh, right! Like I was saying, I really think we should talk properly. Like, about, you know, that whole big misunderstanding. None of the guard know, don’t worry, I didn’t want to freak any of them out- but I don’t want things to be awkward between us, because you’re my friend as much as your sons are.”

After bidding Haolan farewell, Gisela stepped out of the library with every intention of returning home and relaxing with a glass of wine and one of the books tucked inside his bag. Unfortunately, he barely had one foot out of the library door when he heard the voice, the realization of another individual skulking around outside of the doors putting him on edge.

It was, of course, the angel.

Gisela wasn't a fool. He knew that Youngmi had been trying to find a moment to talk to him, not just to play video games with his sons or spend time with Caelius. It would be a lie for the vampire to say that he wasn't avoiding him, but the angel was as persistent as he was naive. Gisela still remembered their last encounter, the little angel's response to having a weapon pointed at him. It had been... concerning.

It was still concerning. The angel in front of him didn't look like a confident Dream Guard, but rather resembled a bird chirping at a cat. Gisela wondered why the child couldn't just learn from the past.

He shouldered the bag containing his precious cargo, and looked down at the small angel, lips downturned in a frown. "Lee Youngmi, don't you know better than to lurk around outside doorways," he muttered, rather than properly deflecting or dodging the matter raised by the angel. After all, Gisela isn't so obtuse as to claim they have nothing to discuss. He did try to kill his son's only friend. And a Dream Guard. He was fortunate that the Guard hadn't dealt with him for that yet.
✧ lee youngmi 1 year ago
@✧ gisela yavetz Each time he’d knocked on the door, there had either been nobody home, or he’d ended up playing video games for a little while, waiting for someone to come home - who never did. It seemed wherever he showed up, Gisela disappeared. He understood, their last meeting had been difficult. He’d be lying if he said he didn’t hold a little bit of nervousness still, dying was not a pleasant experience and he figured a ‘third try’ wouldn’t be offered to him if he faced death once again.

One of Youngmi’s greatest flaws was his persistence, however.

It was a quiet day, the angel was lurking where he probably shouldn’t unannounced, outside the library. A fresh chill rested in the air. The plants decorating the outdoors thrived still - he didn’t quite see how, when everything was starting to die back a little, but the salvias and wallflowers still danced a little in the breeze with their purple petals still attached and happy. The door opened - it creaked, slightly, the noise causing an unpleasant prickle of goosebumps for the blond man, knowing it could only be who he was searching for. Puffing his chest out, Youngmi tried to look some type of confident in front of the vampire. “Sela, I- think we should talk properly.”

It came out as anything but the cool collectedness he’d been going for, rather a rushed ramble as if he expected the vampire to disappear the moment he spoke.

"Overworking himself is /definitely/ reason to bonk him to sleep," Caelius agreed after thinking about it for a few moments. "Maybe I should start bonking Mom to sleep. No, he'd end me," he decided. Or Haolan would tell Caelius something along the lines of /'hitting your mother with a hammer isn't the right way to help him sleep'/. That would be the worst-case scenario. Caelius would like to avoid having a talk like that with his uncle. "The best families are the ones that are madhouses," shrugged the vampire. After all, as he had said, his own was one. But he wouldn't trade any of them for the world.

The angel definitely reminded Caelius of Aurelio, if Aurelio was a little less of a menace and a little more outwardly sweet-tempered. And also a little /smarter/ than Caelius' brother... or at least less reckless. "Good," he sighed. That was a relief. If he said he was going to try to meet him somewhere private, Caelius would have been forced to gently shake him by the shoulders until he changed his mind. Or something like that. "You're not going to get killed a second time. Just be smart about it and if he seems aggressive, back off."

When Youngmi released him, the tall vampire gave him a gentle pat on the head. He wasn't going to admit to his mother that he'd made a friend—Gisela would smile knowingly behind his teacup and then gossip with Haolan about it and Youngmi would find out later from Aurelio, who had his sources—or to anyone else, for that matter, but he supposed... it wasn't such a bad thing. "Hey, you didn't disturb me," Caelius frowned. "This"—he waved around them—"this wasn't a disturbance. It's okay, I can always put the books away later. Uncle Haolan will understand."

@☬ Caelius Yavetz Youngmi nodded his agreement, chuckling to himself. “Really good on him for being able to keep it in check then, hair is definitely tricky. But having longer hair means I can braid people’s hair too - and it’s always nice to sit down and talk like that.” He shrugged his shoulders, deciding to himself that he needed to find more long haired people to tie their hair up. He nodded enthusiastically though. “She does! But it’s okay.. he really overworks himself, so sometimes he needs the extra help.” He scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. “Mhm, but it’s my mad house, for sure. My family.”

Positively delighted by the fact that he wasn’t asked to let go and back off, Youngmi remained clinging quite happily onto the vampire, his eyes bright with his usual cheeriness. “I will! Don’t worry, it’ll be a crowded place, nothing where I could be alone with him. Don’t wanna get killed a second time,” The archangel chattered quietly, his voice slowly dying at the very thought of a second death. No, that would be terrible. Once was bad enough, and he knew he would not be granted a third chance at an existence on the earth.

Youngmi had faith that he’d made a new friend that day. Maybe he would brave the library again in future in order to pay Caelius a visit. He grinned brightly up at the man, then he drew back, releasing the vampire and straightening up his posture, hopping on the tips of his feet and stretching before he dropped his arms down. “Should I leave you to your work? I know I disturbed you when I started panicking and you were trying to put books away.”

"His hair goes down to his hips," Caelius sighed. "Personally, I don't understand how he can stand to keep it that long. When I had long hair I hated it—but to each their own, and it makes him happy, so I don't really care if he keeps his hair ridiculously long or not." The vampire snorted a very undignified laugh, and nodded. "It probably is a mom thing. She—/bonks him to sleep with a hammer/?! Lucifer, that sounds like a madhouse. And I would know. I live in one. My brother likes to try to decapitate me when I'm sleeping—it's a game to him. And I have to be a light sleeper or else he'll cut my head off and then it'll have to be put back, /again/."

Caelius hummed. "It's alright to want answers, but if you do ever approach him—be careful. You never know what might happen, and I'd hate for anything to happen to you, because... I don't know. It's—There aren't a lot of nice people in this world and you remind me of my younger brother, so. Don't do anything reckless, make sure you meet in public or something, don't take any chances."

Caelius was taken by surprise when the angel wrapped his arms around him, but after a moment, he smiled and returned the hug, hand rubbing a soothing circle on Youngmi's back. It had been—well, it hadn't even been a long time. Caelius had never hugged or been hugged by anyone that wasn't his mother, his brother, or their uncle Haolan. This was a first for him, but surprisingly, he didn't mind it as he thought he would. Caelius usually kept his distance from other people—he was of the opinion that he didn't /need/ friends—but maybe they wouldn't be so bad to have.

He wouldn't admit to thinking that, of course.

Gisela's visits to Haolan's library are frequent. They have been ever since he first met the dragon, a long time ago when he was—a much messier person than he is now. He's made a lot of progress, in all of the years they've known each other, and the library has always been a place where he can feel safe and be at ease. It's a place where no one can bother him, where he will be left to his own devices and no one will see the discrepancies, the oddities in the way he behaves. His inability to touch anything that came in contact with someone else's touch. The way he shies away from strangers.

In the library, none of that becomes an issue, and Gisela is always eager to have his peaceful time among the bookshelves, away from the excitement of his sons—even if he loves his children, he does need time to himself—and enveloped in the gentle atmosphere Haolan has created in his library.

But as soon as Gisela steps inside, he knows something is amiss. The door shuts behind him but he doesn't notice—can't notice, because he's breathing in a scent that /shouldn't/ be hanging in the air. It should be impossible, and he thinks, for a long minute, that he must be mistaken.

But he takes another step into the library, and the scent remains—it's unmistakable. Gisela spent—six centuries? Longer? Shorter? He doesn't know, he'll never know, his memory is in shambles—he spent a long time surrounded by that scent, trapped by it, smothered by it.

He flees from the library, icy fingers of terror locked around him.

His place of sanctuary has been disturbed by a man that should be dead.

Xie Chao hasn't been in this city for long, but he's been here long enough to discern that Liuye is, in fact, here somewhere—he has caught traces of his scent here and there, always arriving somewhere after he has left. He's poked into every bookstore he's come across, each little haven that Liuye would so enjoy. He remembers how often the smaller vampire would curl up in a cozy corner with a book in hand. As of yet, Chao hasn't caught his wife's scent in any of them.

But when he pushes open the door of this library and steps inside, Chao knows he has hit the jackpot. He can smell Liuye—the smell is interwoven with the atmosphere of the library, as though Liuye spends a lot of time between the rows and rows of shelves. With the tiniest of smirks playing across his features, Chao mozies through the library, hoping to catch sight of Liuye poring over a book even though he knows it is unlikely for him to be so lucky as to catch him so easily—and it wouldn't be quite as fun if the game was over before it could even begin.

Chao knows Liuye intimately—from his delicate body to the panic Chao could send him into with little more than a glare or a word—and he wants to break him slowly, to have him jumping at shadows and unable to focus. Eventually, Chao will go in for the kill—metaphorically, of course—but he will make him suffer first.

He does not find Liuye among the shelves, and it is with a smile on his lips that he ghosts back out of the library, satisfied that—should Liuye return to the library within an appropriate timeframe—his wife's world will soon start to crumble.

@☬ Caelius Yavetz Youngmi’s head bopped as Caelius continued, inclining into little nods each time. “I bet. It takes me ages to dry mine in the morning, and it’s probably not even as long as his.” The angel quite contently ran his fingers through his medium length hair. He hummed in agreement though as the vampire spoke, a little smile on his lips. He loved Reina, but there was a violent approach to a lot of things. “Maybe it’s a mom thing? Only, Reina doesn’t calm down a lot of the time - if our second in command hasn’t been sleeping, she bonks him to sleep with her hammer,” He explained, shaking his head to himself. He loved his precious guard family anyway.

The angel agreed however, that it would be a lot more difficult to find peace within himself if there was still anger bunched up inside his soul for the one that had killed him. But no, Youngmi understood that the man with the axe was just grieving. Grief drove people to do regrettable things, and that he understood just fine. It was upsetting that he’d died and was now left with all these consequences - but no, he’d never be angry or upset with the grieving man he’d fought. “I think so too. I definitely don’t hate him, but one day I’d like to sit down properly with him and have a talk about what happened.”

Youngmi paused his walking, to smile once again. Without any further hesitation, he slid his arms around the vampire, giving him a hug. In thanks of all his help and advice for the angel, it was the least he could do! Usually, Youngmi would ask first if people were comfortable with being lunged on by the happy bird, but maybe his brain was just a little bit cabbaged from the panic in the library.

"Yeah, Lio fights with his hair all the time," snorted Caelius. Still, his little brother wasn't going to cut it. To each their own. Caelius appreciated the freedom and style options of short hair. He liked hair dye and bleach, too. Xie Chao would have a cow if he could see his oldest child now. Caelius' rebellious teen phase had lasted for forty-seven years now.

Caelius wrinkled his nose. "Ugh, that definitely sounds like my mom. He's actually the nicest person you'll ever meet but when someone bothers Lio or I, or hell forbid they bother Uncle Haolan, he can be very... violence-oriented. Usually he calms down when he remembers that excessive violence creates excessive mess, though." And handled things in a less violent but still fatal way, but Caelius wasn't going to go and tell that to the poor Dream Guard that was having such a bad day.

"It's good that you're not holding onto anger. It would probably make things worse." Caelius wasn't an angry person, he was a calm sort of vindictive. It made him unique among the family, with a mother who was prone to profound emotion and a brother with a temper unmatched. Uncle Haolan was the only other /calm/ person in the family. At the sight of the angel's smile, Caelius was content. He was sure the Dream Guard was going to get better over time, when he found someone to tell and learned how to rely more on his family.

@☬ Caelius Yavetz Youngmi blinked over at the other man and then nodded. “At least you’re dressing as you’re comfortable now, just like he is. I wouldn’t have my hair much longer than this, it’s just a little bit hard to maintain.” A little smile remained on his lips. He liked fashion. He liked the originality of it. People were so creative, just dressing as they were comfortable and see fit.

It was hard for him to admit that he might not being a burden to someone by telling them, but the angel slowly began to nod with more confidence. He’d find the perfect time to let someone know. Maybe Reina. She always made him hot chocolate and gave him cupcakes when he was upset. He always felt safest when settled down on her sofa or table, just chattering back and forth about their days. She was definitely his mother in the guard, from how she spoiled him to how she called him a chicklet as though he was a little baby bird.

“Mhm! We have a group chat in the guard, and because I wanted to know what I missed while I was.. gone, I saw Reina was going to crush whoever it was with her hammer, and Klahan wanted to remove their nails - but it really seemed a little too extreme. I’m not angry at the person who did it.” The angel beamed. A real, bright smile, full of warmth, the panic and darkness of a short while ago fading to memory. He would get through this! He’d do his best to!

"He's the best uncle, honestly," Caelius confirmed. "It's been very good for Aurelio to have him there to help guide him and keep him on the right track and... mostly out of trouble." There was no keeping Aurelio out of trouble altogether, though, because trouble was in his very nature. "I used to wear traditional dress when we lived with my father, and I hated it. I like having shorter hair and wearing pants and t-shirts and, well, I usually wear suits to work but they're also not as bad as traditional dress."

The vampire hummed. "There's always the possibility you're going to tell someone who struggles with something, but I don't think it will make things worse for them. Maybe talking to someone else will help them. But," he added, before the angel could protest or silently decide that he just wouldn't reach out to anyone, "if you're worried about it anyway, it's most likely that they'll tell you they're struggling with something similar and you can decide whether or not you want to tell them on your own terms."

Perhaps Caelius was becoming too invested in the wellbeing of this stranger, but he wanted to see him get better, even if he didn't know him very well. They might have been complete strangers before Caelius had dropped the book and knocked him into a panic attack, but Gisela hadn't raised him to walk away from people who were in need and, like he had told the angel himself, he'd seen his mother a ball of shakes on the floor too often in his childhood to just turn away from someone who needed help.

The vampire smiled, feeling like a new weight had been lifted from his shoulders. "Good," he said, and laughed. "That sounds like my family. I think the natural response of family is to have violent urges toward anything that causes their loved ones pain. My mother and brother are definitely that way. But with things like this, it won't do anything to help." Caelius shook his head, and reached out to ruffle Youngmi's hair like he would Aurelio's. "You don't have to thank me, but you're welcome, and you'll get through this."

Being the God of the Underworld himself, dealing with souls is just like dealing with customers most of the time. The difference is that, the one below knows who he is and up here, they have no idea. "That wrapper please, sir.." "Oh I'm sorry, I changed my mind, I would like the pink one." "Ah..you see.. I changed my mind again to the other one." That certain customer had changed her mind on 4 different kinds of wrapper and Nathaniel almost had it enough. "You know what, I'll wrap all the books in all four shall we? And you don't have to pay for the wrappers." He said with his restrained tone but still with a smile. The customer just grinned nervously and takes the wrapped up books out. The God heaves a breath in relief and looks to his watch to see that its almost closing time, so he walks up to the door and flips the open sign to closed to end the day.

@♆ Nathaniel Aidoneus [I'm gunna use those room instead because you're already in the bookstore ;;]

Dressed in a casual, brown knitted sweater, i looked like any other normal citizen who had just wandered into your bookstore. My trained and calculated eyes flickered innocently over the shelves, head tilting to the side and a little tuck of hair behind my ear for another feigned act of interest in the books on front of me. Whenever I got the chance, I would look toward the door behind the cash register then back to you. Mortem had given me a task to gather information on the bookstore keeper to see if there would be valuable information to use for future plans. When I noticed that you were busy with a customer, I gradually inched myself closer to the back until I could safely slip in, sure that no one had notice me.

@☬ Caelius Yavetz Someone with a healing presence was always one that the angel could appreciate. Someone calm to spend time with. Maybe the library would be a good place to spend more time in. Just... maybe reading, so that his mind didn't get sidetracked by little bugs crawling across the desk and inevitably being crushed when books fell on them. The angel shuddered internally. Perhaps he'd take a few weeks first before he came back to the library again. "Oh, I see. It's good your brother can look up to someone like that, right? He must be a really good uncle!" Youngmi exclaimed, nodding lightly to himself. "I quite like having long hair too, but I don't think I could manage traditional dress."

The angel's expression turned uncertain at the confirmation that he should find someone to confess his attacks to. Doubt clouded his features and he blinked at the vampire, a little frown returning to his features. Who would he even tell? How did he decide who the best person would be? He didn't want to burden anyone, nor give them extra stress in hearing about how the angel spent up to hours curled up in his room distressed beyond reasoning until he was pulled out of the turbulent sea of thoughts that his mind could fall and drown in. He felt as though he was on the deck of a glass-bottom ship, but sometimes, some big force would come up, shatter the bottom and make him fall in. Youngmi could not swim very well. Lips thinning as he pursed them, he paused in his step for a moment. "How do I know who to tell? What if I tell someone who's already struggling with something like it, and it makes things worse for them?"

He started walking again, hurrying to keep stride with Caelius as he walked. "I think I'll tell someone, when I've figured out who would be the best to tell. I really don't know who would be best to let know... lots of them would just want to be violent to whatever causes them, but I don't really want that. But I'll find someone, I'm sure! Thank you again, Caelius." Now the trembling had entirely stopped, Youngmi's steps were less withdrawn and shaky, he felt like he could let his hands swing freely down at his sides.

"I hope you're able to," Caelius agreed. Maybe knowing someone like Haolan could do the angel some good. "I'm sure Uncle Haolan would love to have someone to converse with that isn't Mom, Aurelio, or I, or his... partner." His uncle had a healing sort of presence; it was like being in the same vicinity as Haolan made everything feel like it would be okay. "No, my brother hates having his hair cut. He'll sit still for a trim, but that's about it. See, Uncle Haolan is—and I mean this with the utmost respect—/old/ and dresses and styles his hair in the fashions of the time period he's from. Aurelio mimics him, so he dresses similar. His hairstyle's a little different because he's a ruffian, though." Getting him to tie some of it back in braids had been a feat on Gisela's part. Aurelio would have just run around with it loose all the time.

Caelius ran a hand through his hair. "You may not want to hear this," he started, "but you should tell someone. You might be the cheerful one, and you might always be there for everyone, but it doesn't matter who you are or how strong, how happy, how independent you are—everyone needs someone to be there for them at one point or another." He turned to the angel. "If you're always there for them, then that means you know how important it is for someone to have support and help when they're having a rough time. If you care about someone, you should let them care about you, too. It's alright to give and give and give, but at some point you have to learn how to let them give back. Relationships are about exchange, not just one side giving everything they can and shutting their loved ones out when they want to help."

The vampire sighed. "And believe it or not, having your friends there to support and help you will help you get through this," he added. "Some people don't know what to do when they see someone having a panic attack, they might not even recognize the symptoms. It's better to tell someone, someone you trust, that you have panic attacks so that they're able to help you when you have one. Suffering through them is an awful, awful thing. Especially if you're suffering alone."
