ReNu (Korean: 레누, pronounced as renew) is a South Korean coed band formed under the Lyra Muzik label of Nova Lux Corporation. They debuted on October 16, 2018, with the Korean single 'Pray'. The group consists of members Ivy, Noelle, Kelly, Wednesday, and Tomo. Their fandom is called TRNSFRMRS (pronounced as Transformers). Their official color is Growing Green (#9BB948). Their introduction phrase is "Don't conform, transform your mind! We're ReNu!"
ReNu has won the New Artist Award (Seoul Music Awards 2018), Best Rock (Melon Music Awards 2018), Best Rock Album (Korean Music Awards 2020), and the Band Award (SMA 2020).
Lore and Concept
The lore for ReNu connects them to their labelmates. Their logo and name represent their purpose of being "messengers" to the world and renewing their perspective on the view of the world and how it works. Their work is to slowly undo the propaganda brought about by the gods that released the other groups and show the truth, which is that they're not innately evil and instead play a vital role in the cycle and balance of nature.
History
Pre-Debut
Ivy was initially known to the public through Nova Rookies. While a trainee, she was in a band formed by close friends, eventually leaving the group to become a trainee. She would eventually be revealed as a member of PANDØRA during their debut project but quickly left the group, once again becoming a trainee. In a later interview, Ivy revealed that while she enjoyed her time as a member of PANDØRA and adored the girls, the idol life just didn't seem to fit her. Before debut, the band would do busking events to gain public traction.
2018—2022: Debut, 1st EP, ReNu ReDo Vol I & II
The band debuted officially with the Korean single Pray, which featured member Tomo as the lead for vocals. The song and ReNu were a new direction for Nova Lux, who had focused on the idol scene until then. They quickly gained attention for their unique vocals and metal and rock sound. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were no promotions for their songs until 2023.

To further expand their sound, and keep fans with content in between albums, ReNu started a series that they called ReNu ReDo, which consisted of covers and renditions of previously released songs, both from labelmates and other artists. It allowed the songs to be given a new sound while also allowing the band to try out different styles and genres of music. The band released two compilation albums of ReNu ReDo with the songs they covered, and continue to post more covers on their YouTube channel.
2023—Present: 1st album, ReNu ReDo Vol III, — departure
A third compilation album was released of ReNu ReDo in August 2023, which was followed by the band's first public promotions following the pandemic. April 10, 2024, saw the release of the band's first full album, featuring new songs and vocals from Nova Rookies female trainees Yubin, —, —, & —. The album was praised for having songs in English, Korean, and Japanese, showcasing the multilanguage abilities of the band and their versatility. It was also revealed that members — & — had decided to leave the band for personal reasons, with new members Kelly and Noelle joining the band a few months later.
Subunits
In January 2024, member Tomo revealed that he was working on a project, though was quickly stopped by member Ivy, leading fans to speculate that he had given a spoiler. In May, it was confirmed and revealed by the company that ReNu members Tomo and Ivy were preparing to debut as the band's first subunit. Plans for more subunits have been speculated but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
