@jeon wonwoo. aside from the parties that dain’s parents invite her in, or the many charity galas that she was told to attend, she makes sure that her presence is scarce. she finds these gatherings time consuming and tedious— like watching someone cook a burger, and then seeing them add gold leaf to the patty as if it would contribute anything to the taste and quality of the food. then again, most things are like that to her now: boring.

had this occasion been the same from what she's used to, dain would completely disregard the invitation; it's just a wedding after all. she's attended so many— in this exact same venue— she actually memorized how many steps it took for the bride to reach the groom and how easy it would take her to find the exit if no one’s looking enough. yet, the temptation was too much for her to ignore, the person who’d contacted her being the bride herself— one that she’d taken pictures of to gift the groom later.

it was hard to say no… until things took a downward turn. she realizes this the second she hears her name among past batchmates, urging her towards them and welcoming her to the little circle they’ve made when the reception keeps on.

of course, she sees his little movement. she’d taken notice of it when they weren't looking— too preoccupied by their own group to notice that she’d been there all along, hiding in the background in hopes of not being seen. but then, her cover (a woman in her 40s who recognized her name card on their shared table) was blown when one turned their head in her direction— and she's forced to interact with them.

dain remains stoic despite it all, however, champagne glass in hand. “you probably haven't heard the news but we’ve broken up a long time ago,” she tells them plain and simple, though the bitterness of seeing him not even acknowledging her, for even a second, was bruising her ego like he did back then— the festering wound tearing itself open and raw she had to make /something else/ bleed.. “and i’m… getting engaged to someone else.”

@cha eunwoo. Taking the others firm handshake, Chris dropped his hand after, giving a small nod at the other once again. "It's nice to meet you too, Eunwoo." He replied the same enthusiasm. For him, meeting his fans was just as exciting as he knew that it felt to meet the person you looked up to, of course, Chris could never grasp the idea that people were that excited to meet him still. He never thought he would be doing work that would allow himself the opportunity, and even then, he still felt like a regular person, going about his life like everyone else.

He stretched out a bit before resting his arms on the table in front of him, giving his full attention to the other, in front of him. "I'm not too bad actually." He hummed out a slight chirp to his voice. "Games as good as the ones today give me a bit more energy, but it'll all hit me later." He laughed at his own comment. "How're you? Other than excited to get to do this?" He teased lightly at the others nervousness.
kim jennie. 4 months ago
@kim mingyu. jennie knew the dangers being here could bring; she’d been advised to completely miss it ‘due to busy schedules’— or was suggested to only stay for a few minutes since she had ‘other important plans that same night’ but she pushed through despite the management’s decision. this was the chance that she had been looking for for years of having no contact with him, after all; it gave her the perfect chance to reconcile with him since the reunion would allow them to interact with a valid excuse— a front, surrounded by the same group of friends that saw their love grow even though it started as a fluke.

(a silly, little experiment done by two teenagers who wanted so badly to keep their high status during high school.)

she promised them that she wouldn't do anything that could hurt her image, and she’ll make sure to do so. thankfully, they let her go.

“are you sure about this?” hyunwoo whispers the second he gets a hold of her hand, helping her come down the van so she wouldn't lose her balance, all the while using his body as a cover she wouldn't be caught in such an uncompromising position by the other attendees. why she chose such a revealing dress for such an occasion, he will never know. the neckline was too deep, the fabric of the gown almost sheer that he feared for her safety. “i could always barge in there and make up an excuse that you have other things to tend to if things go downhill.”

jennie laughs and shakes her head, “you don't have to go through all of that. i’ll be fine,” she assures him in return, patting the hand that was holding her, and then smiling at the people that had been gawking at her when they found out who she actually was. she could not figure out whether they were old schoolmates of hers that were also there for their high school reunion; either way, she must always look as friendly as possible— to make sure that only good words would be spoken about her in a public setting.

as they head for the event hall, where she knew the school reunion is being held, jennie’s courage at facing kim mingyu began faltering, the message haein sent her about his attendance at the party still ingrained in her brain. she had not expected it at first, assumed that he’d plan to be a no-show when they sent out the invitations, but knowing that he’s at the same place as she is, thoughts of him completely avoiding her began blaring like red light in her head. she knew it was stupid to even hope that they’d make up after the way she abandoned him— but… she wants to try, at the very least. he needed to know that she /knew/ what happened, and is very much sorry for it. she only hopes that he’d give her a chance to make up for all the wrongs that she did.

as hyunwoo announces that he’ll be at the lobby waiting for her, jennie nods along and provides her name to the staff at the entrance of the hall, texting haein a confirmation that she's arrived. luckily, she didn't have to wait that long, the woman quickly latching herself on jennie’s arm. “i thought you were caught in traffic, nini. everyone’s been waiting for you. the star of the show,” she jests, dragging her towards where their table must be located. “oh! and when i meant everyone, i’m positively sure that mingyu is, too.”

“i highly doubt that,” jennie mutters, remembering that the last time they saw each other, mingyu had the most devastating look she'd ever seen him wear in the years they’ve known each other. “he’d probably shove a knife on my throat the second he sees me.”

and just as she'd expected, the first time they meet each other’s eyes in a very long while, sitting next to the same guys he’s been with throughout high school, animosity is the first thing she finds in the dark pools of his irises, the breath catching in that she loses the ability to move her feet forward.

beside her, haein blinks. “nini? are you okay?”

no. she's not. she will probably never be.
jeon wonwoo. 4 months ago
@ryu dain. wonwoo hates it. if it wasn't because of the accident, he wouldn't feel this way. all because of that damned accident that caused him to push everyone away when he was hospitalized. his parents tried their best to comfort and make sure he's well treated, but still, it's useless as he can't even fly the plane anymore. it was his dream, and it all shattered in one day.

at first, he didn't really want to go to this wedding invitation party from his colleagues. it's because he could meet anyone that he didn't feel like meeting. also, partially because someone he wants to avoid might be there as well. how long has it been since he saw her? he didn't even want to count. the way his mother persuaded him to come to meet and socialize again is what made him feel like doing so. there he was, standing next to his friends that used to be close with him.

while they were talking, somehow they brought up past things, and of course, it triggered his emotions. "how are you and dain right now, wonu yaa? are you guys still together? or are you planning to propose to her soon?" they teased while laughing and nudging his sides. oh god—how is he supposed to answer that?

if they were still together until now, wouldn't it be the right time to propose already? no, it's not. it can't happen anyway. they both already went their separate ways, and there's nothing he can do about it anymore. plus, it was him who pushed her away when he got into an accident and even broke up with her just so she could find someone better than him. at that time, he felt like the most useless person in the world, and wonwoo knows dain deserved better. not to be with him, who will only trouble her with his hand tremors.

wonwoo sighed at the question and shrugged. it's better if he didn't say anything about it. his friends will shut up themselves later on anyway. "ah, it's dain! yaa ryu dain! your boyfriend is here!" they called her out, and wonwoo's eyes widened at the sight of her before he quickly diverted his gaze and sighed. this is why he didn't want to be here.
kim donghyuk. 4 months ago
@kim taehyung. Donghyuk took another sip of the water before setting it aside, and nodded his head in agreement. "I'll see what I can do about booking more events for us." He chuckled lightly before patting Taehyung on the back, another nod before nudging his head in the direction, and gathering the rest of the teams attention to indicate that it was time to go up, before leading the way to the stage. It was still early in the evening so the sun had only just begun its descent into the sky, the roar of the crowd was one that got his adrenaline pumping with excitement as everyone took their proper positions on stage before the music starting playing. Each beat thrumming through his body as he performed, and interacted enough with the crowd to keep their hype up.
cha eunwoo. 4 months ago
@christopher bang. although he had nothing to fear, as chris was known to be friendly and personable both on and off the field, the surreality of the fact that one of his most treasured sports idol was extending him a handshake was— unshakable. chris was a stellar player to watch; the pitcher came in 'clutch' so to speak, flipping the game when his team needed it most. the athlete's personality was also another quality that eunwoo respected; chris was known to treat every fan with greatfulness and kindness.

keeping in mind that the experience would only become awkward if he didn't stop letting his nerves get the best of him, eunwoo took the baseball player's hand and gave it a firm, but gentle shake. "it's so nice to meet you in person. my name is eunwoo." with a smile, he then let go of his hand. "how are you feeling, it's a dream come true to see you, but you must be a little tired after that game."
kim taehyung. 4 months ago
@kim donghyuk. He nodded his head in agreement, of course he was right. Even if they had only a tiny crowd at least they were having fun and doing what they enjoyed. For him it was never for popularity or recognition, he just did it because he enjoyed it. Hoping to spread a little of his joy into whoever attended. He could feel Donghyuks confidence from his words and body language alone which spurred his own confidence even higher, "Missed being up there, for real. We gotta do more and more events." His gaze switched from his friend towards the direction of the stage before straightening up and stretching his arms up above his head, "Shall we?"
kim donghyuk. 4 months ago
@kim taehyung. Donghyuk tried hard to suppress his laugh from the other jumping in reaction to him, but couldn’t help the small chuckle that escaped his lips. Hand coming up to pat the others shoulder just a bit. “They did? That’s good.” He said with a nod to the others question. “Though, when do we not have a good night?” He teased lightly, the dancer was confident in not only himself but his team as well.
“Yeah! So ready, feels good to be back on stage again, even if it’s only been a short while.” He chuckled lightly.
kim taehyung. 4 months ago
@kim donghyuk. It never got old, honestly. Those moments leading up to a show. Being in a dance group hadn't been something that he'd originally planned to do, and definitely not something he'd see himself doing. But, that had all changed from the moment he met Donghyuk - his friends passion alone was inspiring enough that it convinced him to give it a shot; and as it turns out.. He was pretty good at it too.

His veins thrummed with nerves and excitement and he was lost in the world in his head when his friend had come over to him and nearly jumped out of his skin when he suddenly spoke. A sheepish smile was thrown in the other males direction before taking the cold water from him and taking a long swig from it, "Mmh, I think it's gonna be great. The angels told me so~" He spoke bright, corners of his eyes crinkling as he smiled his signature boxy smile and pointed an index finger to the sky, "Everything is ready for us! This is gonna be awesome. You all stretched and feeling good?"
kim donghyuk. 4 months ago
@kim taehyung. The thrill of getting to perform had always been something Donghyuk had enjoyed. Having loved dance from the time he was born he felt he had been meant for the stage. The evening was drawing upon them and he could hear the loud chatter of the crowd on the other side of the event center. The crew have been backstage getting ready for one of their performances, one that he himself scheduled. Being a leader of the crew like this, he had taken the responsibility of making sure the crew is able to perform, and do their own things. Having to rent the places out and hire crew to help them set up had been a task and a half in itself.

Grabbing two water bottles out of the ice cooler, he walked up to one of his closer friends that had been with him from the start of the crew and helped him build it up, handing one of the bottles over for the other to take. "Tonight goes well, hopefully we can have more people show up tomorrow." He said cracking his bottle own bottle open before taking a drink from it, the cool liquid a nice contrast from the summer heat. "Have you got everything ready?"

@cha eunwoo. Getting to meet the fans after certain games, were one of Chris’ favorite things about his work. It gave the extroverted male an excuse to meet other people who had shared some of the same passion that he did. It was natural for him to take his time allotted to him, and use it well to get to know each fan on a better level. Attempting to leave everyone satisfied with their short time together one on one like this.

For Chris, he knew that the meet and greets were more than just the team though, it was also a chance for the fans to mingle amongst each other in a shared interest. If Chris wasn’t busy, it was easy for him to get caught up in chatting with the fans.

“Hi.” Chris watched as the next fan approached him, and saw the nervousness in him immediately. He gave a warm smile in hopes of getting the other to relax a bit. “Thanks! They sure helped us win the game.” He chuckled a bit offering his hand out for the other to shake. “What’s your name?”
cha eunwoo. 4 months ago
@christopher bang. it had been a stellar game. bottom of the 9th inning, with his favorite pitcher trying to close it out. the lg twins were only ahead by a single home run, and the next batter up on home plate was park; a powerful hitter with a .276 batting percentage. eunwoo had watched in the stands, on the edge of his seat, silently pleading that his team would manage to clinch out a consecutive win. no less than when the final pitch was thrown and caught, the stadium erupted into loud cheers. right away, eunwoo had stood up, clapping proudly. it had been an amazing sight and experience.

the thrilling momentum didn't end just at the game however, as he was one of the fans lucky and fortunate enough to go to a post-game fan-meet. now that the team had won, it was truly going to be an atmosphere. following the event coordinator and security guards, eunwoo was guided down the infamous hall, /the hall/, where legendary names in the kbo had walked out from... he was literally walking in the path of chris bang.

arriving to the room, eunwoo let out a long, drawn out exhale of awe. off to the sides, there was a buffet of food, hors d'oeuvres, beer, an open bar with bartenders. there was also a small pop-up merch stand, selling apparel and all sorts of team branded goods, as well as memorabilia that eunwoo had never seen before. but the best was the players themselves. on a long table atop of a podium at the front, sat the entire lg twins roster. eunwoo didn't walk with hesitancy. he made a beeline for the forming line to meet and greet the players. reaching into the waist pack that was slung across his chest, eunwoo got into line, with his baseball and deck of sports cards in hand.

he respectfully greeted and complimented every player for a play they had made in the game, remembering every detail. for each and every player, he handed them their the respective baseball card, for them to sign. then, it was finally the moment. eunwoo reached the closer, the pitcher, chris bang. "hello." he croaked out. "your 4-seam fastballs were a killer today." eunwoo nervously stated to his sports idol.

@cha eunwoo. The evening had fell upon the city quicker than Chris had realized. His day had been pretty busy, as most days with games the baseball player was booked from the time he opens his eyes to the end of the day, and today was no different. The day had started off with warm ups, pre interviews for the games, outings with the team and then of course, the game. It had been a close call, but with Chris' skill and the catchers directions he had been able to strike out the last batter on the last inning of the game. Roars from the crowd had erupted through out the stadium once the ball had landed in the catchers glove.

A successful game had meant that the team was in high spirits and when the team had went back to the locker room, there had been talks of going out for drinks that night, after they had been completely finished with their schedules. Chris had been one of the teammates that had signed up for meeting the fans, it was something he always did, it was a way of making connections and getting to know the people who enjoyed the game just as much as he did. Taking a quick shower and getting dressed in his regular clothes for the day, it wasn't long before he had been brought to the place of the event.

It was only a few fans each time one of these events had been held, and for the team it was easier that way. It had felt more personal and allowed the team and the fans more interaction time. When he and his few team members had entered the room, Chris immediately began bowing to his fans going up to each one to greet them, a bright and warm smile on his face as he shook their hands.
