@ᶜ˖⁺ hakyeon c。 hongbin felt no true disturbance, sleeping in the forest. his body was at peace on the forest floor, even as his familiar paced slow circles around him, protecting him. the white fox caught notice of the stranger lurking in the woods, and she was instantly on guard. she barred her teeth as she sniffed the air, though she couldn't tell whether or not the other figure among them was dangerous or not.
almost as if sensing her worry, hongbin began to stir, and his eyes slowly fluttered open. at first, he couldn't tell anything was amiss. he heard no sounds, his senses dull from sleep, though the unease that pricked his mind was uncanny. he cast his sleepy gaze to hanako, his eyes grazing over her gleaming white fur. she bound to him, her tail flicking in curiosity as she tried to turn his focus to the man among them.
finally, the fairy lifted his gaze, and he froze. seeing just how late it had gotten since he had fallen asleep, he was panicked for a moment. it was moments like these that he wished he had been able to hear better than his accident had allowed; many a time, he had run into unknowing people, who seemed to insist that fairies were tiny little creatures that were meant to be shoved into bottles to be kept. they weren't like in the movies, and as a matter of fact, if anything, he was much different than the stereotypical fairy.
it was a long time, hongbin at least thought, that he had his arms around his familiar, his eyes wide, lips agape as he stared at the stranger. when his mouth felt dry, he finally closed it, raising a fist to rub at one of his eyes before he finally spoke up, his voice a little hoarse from sleep. "is-- are you... looking for something specific? what's-- got you.. here. in the forest?"
@ᶜ˖⁺ minki c。 Vines writhe at his heels, serpentine in the way they cling to his ankles and catch his sandals. He makes a note to reprimand himself later for his unfortunate choice of footwear, but that can't be helped for now.
"C'mon, Mink! Don't be such a slug!" He calls out to the other, several paces ahead--- the space between them yawning into a precarious expanse of untamed shrubbery and shade. Even then, Taehyung's demeanor is the sunniest. He's in his element, after all. The throng of nature caressing odes into his skin and whispering its beckons across his locks. An occasional thorn or two catches at the backs of his hands where he clutches his knapsack, but the offending plants are quick to breathe apologies into the zephyrs. Seedlings float amidst the currents and tickle at the boy's regal cheekbones.
'Sorry, your majesty. Our young prince.'
He ambles farther, pausing only to whip a weathered scroll out from his back pocket and squint at the contents he unfurls. "This way. The plant flourishes around moist, heavy environments. There's a small marsh just up ahead and--- Mink? Wait, Mink? Did I lose you already?"
[ sorry it took so long. Admin duties. Forgive the typos btw I'm on mobile orz ]
@ᵈ˖⁺ hongbin l。 it was rather stupid of him to look for an herb that was native to south asian deserts and mountains in a forest, but hakyeon was desperate. his supply of asafoetida was running dangerously low, and his supplier of herbs and plants wouldn't be able to deliver fast enough. he'd been in the middle of deciding which items to put a gris gris bag intended for leaving a hex, before he'd realized that he'd nearly run out of the powder he'd needed to start things off. he could wait, yes, but he was sure he'd lose the idea eventually, and the right state of mind to create his little hex bag. while there would be no asafoetida in the forest for sure, he wanted to be thorough - maybe he could find a substitute, something that wouldn't work as well but would still be effective?
hakyeon's tempted to take a little break, to take a few moments just admiring the quiet charm of the forest. even after all his years of living, there's nothing quite as beautiful as the movement of a living forest, animals surrounding the trees, birds chirping, plants growing, the sun shining. if it weren't for his urgency, he'd stop and just bask it all in, drink in the sun and the sounds and the sights and the feeling of nature breathing, living, and dying around him. instead he stooped over, inspecting any herbs or plants that caught his eye in hopes of finding a good substitute for his asafoetida.
as he was rising from inspecting a hidden yellow flower in the grass, he noticed a figure out of the corner of his eye, leaning against a nearby tree. sleeping, perhaps? hakyeon wouldn't bother him, but he was rather interested in what another person was doing in the forest - maybe he was a fairy? he had met his fair share of fairies in the past, and they were... alright, he supposed. a bit too giggly for his taste, but maybe that had changed since then. the thing that did interest him when it came to the fae was their penchant for nature - maybe this one knew of any herbs in the forest that could be a good substitute?
after a moment of contemplating whether or not to wake the fairy up, hakyeon shook his head. he didn't want to be rude, and the white fox circling her master didn't seem like she would take too kindly to strangers. he would just suffer on his own, he told himself, despite his almost unconscious gravitation towards the sleeping fairy.
the small, white fox wound her way through his legs, her tail brushing along the denim of his jeans as they walked. though he couldn't hear it, bird twittered and chirped quietly all around him, warning others of the new presence in their home, though none dared venture closer. the fox kept the little critters away, an occasional leaf fluttering in the wind as small animals scurried away, twigs and branches snapping every once in a while as a creature flocked away in panic.
his focus wasn't on the animals. it wasn't focused on the sun glaring through the leaves, casting soft hues of yellow, green, and red all around. it wasn't on the wind brushing his locks aside with every gentle breeze. it wasn't even on his familiar, who trotted gallantly ahead of him once his footing was secure. he didn't focus on what he could hear, which wasn't much at all. instead, he was focused on the smells. the pine, which smelled much more like home than anything else. his senses were overcome with the familiarity of the woods around him; a woodland enthusiast, he had always longed to return home after a long day. and now, stumbling along the greens, he couldn't feel more at peace.
finally, the boy stumbled to a large tree, sinking to the base of the trunk. his familiar contented herself with crawling into his lap, two little paws pressing to his thighs before she settled into a mound of white fur on his thighs. the fingers of one of his hands ran through her soft, feathery fur, and a sigh parted his rosy lips as he sunk into the trunk of the tree. this was home to him, this is what felt natural.
dusk began to fall, the shadows of trees looming around him, growing in length as the sun began to set behind the horizon. he didn't mind; his thoughts were on the way the dirt felt under his fingertips, the way the bark felt against his back, the smell of nature in his nose. his familiar moved from her perch, slipping to the forest floor as she padded soft circles around him, keeping a watch out for anything that would harm him. slowly, he began to drift, confident in his familiar's ability to keep him safe, and warn him if he was in danger.
thus, he fell asleep against the trunk of the tree, feeling entirely at peace, for he was home.
@ᶜ˖⁺ chanyeol p。 Kyungsoo managed to locate the area with the familiar just fine - using his extra senses to sense exactly where the agitated familiar was at. Upon arrival, he was given an official badge by someone in the association in order to indicate he was indeed who he says he is, and then given instructions on what to do with the familiar. His thoughts were suddenly cut short when a very tall, lean man approached him and addressed him by name. "O-Oh, yes." He bowed a little, introducing himself properly. "It's nice to meet you Chanyeol. I could sense this familiars anger all the way from the roadside and farther." He admitted, walking with Chanyeol near the spot the familiar was throwing her fit at.
She was honestly pretty big, teeth bared and fur upright on her back as they approached. 'Pissed off' would be the appropriate term for this girl at the moment. Kyungsoo calmed himself, motioning for Chanyeol to stay back where he currently was. "I'll take it from here." he murmured softly, turning his full attention to the familiar in front of him. Without opening his mouth or making a sound, he closed his eyes and focused his energy on the familiar in front of him.
'Hello darling'. He started, trying his best to calm her. 'Why are you so upset? These people are not the ones that hurt you. Our intentions are only for your greater good. Please, calm yourself and take a moment to give us a chance.' He begged her, still looking calm and collected as if in meditation on the outside. She did calm down, however, she spat back at him in telepathic reply. 'Why would I trust the likes of any of you? You're all greedy, selfish, vile creatures that only use for your own good.'
Opening his eyes, Kyungsoo gave her a sad, apologetic expression and slowly stepped closer, extending his hand in front of him. 'Will you give me a chance to prove myself?' He asked, intent on pressing his luck until the last moment. 'I will show you the good we are capable of.' She looked hesitant, and her teeth stayed bared, but the hair on her back went down and her muscles visibly relaxed.
'If your touch even so slightly bothers me, you will lose your arm to my stomach.' She promised, head lowering just enough for Kyungsoo's hand to comfortably fall on the familiars muzzle. A large growl erupted from her chest, and she flinched slightly at the touch, but she did not bite him. Kyungsoo gently pet her nose, trying to get her to calm down and trust him. 'All we want is your freedom and happiness. We've rescued you from the evil that tormented you. Please, trust in my words. We will not harm you.'
When she had calmed enough to put her bared teeth away, Kyungsoo turned to Chanyeol slightly to ask him a question. "What would you like me to communicate with her? Is she to stay here in these woods, or is she free to roam wherever she'd like?"
@ᶜ˖⁺ kyungsoo d。 Chanyeol sighed again, not out of regret but at a particular hissing feline familiar refusing to budge from the ground. The feline being was rescued a few days ago from it's tyrant master who was conducting some unacceptable body modification--- for "greater purpose" as the crazy bastard said in his defence. Because of this the familiar has developed fear of human and it was quite a work to had it transported from the basement to the head quarters and then here. They're planning to heal the magical being and what's better than nature and the wild? Just before he could think more, he heard his staff calling out for him because the therapist had arrived. Good timing. Putting on his best smile, he smoothly glided towards the therapist who was surprisingly smaller and for a moment Chanyeol doubted the latter's skills though he tried his best to mask this with his practiced smile. "Hello, Mr. Do! I'm Chanyeol. Thank you so much for coming on a short notice. I really hope you can make the little guy calm."
