Tonight wasn't supposed to end like this.

A bitter smile appeared on his lips. Gone was the neat look on his body. His necktie was thrown carelessly near the door of his hotel room door, hair already messy courtesy of his hand. Lucky for him, he had booked a suite room just in case he drank a bit too much, after all, it was his birthday party where he should've had the best time of his life. How did it end up messy like this again?

Jeon Jiho. That was the name of the main problem of the night. If it was not for his brother's careless act with Mika, none of this would happen. With a lifeless walk, Minjun made his way toward the alcohol bar in the room. Usually, he wasn't a fan of alcoholic drinks but just for tonight, he just felt the need to down everything with the bitter liquor. Grabbing the whiskey in the bottle, Minjun didn’t even bother to take a glass along with him as he slumped down the floor beside the bed, facing the huge window overlooking the city. Popping the bottle open, he didn’t hesitate to take a huge sip straight from the bottle, letting the liquor burn the back of his throat, in hoping to remove the pain away. He wasn’t supposed to feel like this. Not when nothing is going on between him and Seo Jiyoung.

Seo Jiyoung. He repeated her name in his mind and his eyes involuntarily went to his reflection against the window and settled upon his lips. Remembering the softness and the taste of her (mostly the sour taste of the lime but it still counts.) And remembering that kiss made him feel like a total . He should’ve rejected the kiss. He should’ve pushed her away. He should’ve put the distance between them when she whispered his name oh so softly like the devil’s whisper. But no, he had to just succumb to his selfish self and ruin everything. No matter how badly he wanted her, kissing someone who just got her heart broken and clearly under alcohol influence was never been the correct answer.

Minjun couldn’t exactly pinpoint when the feeling for the younger Seo bloomed inside his heart or what caused it. Of course, she’s very beautiful and with that incredible voice of hers, it was easy to make anyone a fan of hers. Maybe that's how it started at first. He knew her even before she made her debut as a Venus member. Both of them used to attend same vocal class. The more he spent his time with her, the more he got attracted to her witty self. If only the feeling didn’t grow into something more, maybe he wouldn’t feel anything like this.

Then came the next problem, Tae Jiyong. Now, Minjun had a mixed emotion for this one particular male. One part of him was glad that the Alpha leader stepped in and stopped him before he did something that he might regret more. But one part of him hated the older male for doing that and even left the place together with Jade. Did the guy also have the same feeling as he does for the short girl? And seeing how Jade came along with Jiyong so easily made his heart ache again. But then again, she wasn’t his. Never has been his. So why the bitter feeling? He was known to be good at controlling his emotions so why now the control slowly slipped away from his grasp?

The soulless laugh that came out after taking a long gulp of the whiskey made him realize how pathetic he must’ve looked to the people around him tonight. Even his own reflection looked like a wounded puppy who lost its owner and was left stranded to his own wounds. But the wound was caused by himself. Minjun shouldn’t blame anyone else for this heartache. The fool one is himself. If only he didn’t have any feelings for her… If only he hadn’t thrown the birthday party… if only he never mentioned that he loved red… if only Jiho and Mika hadn’t been so ignorant of their surrounding… so many Ifs forming in his mind but alas, the damage is done, and couldn’t be undone. He had to live facing the consequences from now on.

Maybe it was for the best. He thought as he downed the rest of the liquor inside the bottle, standing up and swaying to get the second bottle. Returning to his previous spot, Minjun took another big gulp of it, didn’t really care about the massive hangover that most likely hit him in the morning when he woke up later. Without him realizing it, one by one, teardrops started to flow down his cheeks. “H-huh?” His free hand reached up to touch his cheek and a dry laugh escaped when he finally realized that he was crying. “I really am so pathetic…” Bringing his legs up, knees pressed against his chest as he finally let himself cry. Tomorrow, when the tears dried, he would return to the normal Jeon Minjun. The all smiley Jeon Minjun. The nice and polite Jeon Minjun. But tonight, that man was tucked away, the man who had been gatekeeping all his negative feelings inside finally gave up and let it all come pouring out, showing a moment of weakness that he usually would hate to let out.

After a couple of minutes, not that he paid much attention to the time, he finally calmed down. His shoulders were shaking in the aftermath, trying to catch his breath with a clogged nose. Minjun honestly didn’t know how he would react if he saw those people. While avoiding Jade and Taeyong wouldn’t be a problem, he knew he could never avoid his brother since they still had a song to finish together. Could he still greet him with a smile? But then again, Jiho might have no idea about what happened nor would he care about it all. Minjun knew his brother well enough. Especially now he’s back with Mika, he would only care about that lady’s feelings. And it wasn’t as if he asked Jade to have some feelings for him anyway. Just like how she never asked Minjun to harbor any romantic feelings for her. So he shouldn’t blame him, but call him a coward, he needed someone else to take the blame right now.

Finally finishing the second bottle, his eyes shifted to his phone on the nightstand, wondering if he should call Jade’s number to ask if she arrived home safely but he also didn’t want to hear Taeyong’s voice who might be beside her right now, tucking her to bed, or maybe did something like what Jiho and Mika probably doing now. At that moment, his ex’s name crossed his mind, but the red-haired woman might be already sleeping, he knew that Cho Jiyeon had a tight schedule today, and that’s why she couldn’t come to his birthday party and just sent his birthday gift the day before. Minjun also didn’t want to dump his emotional baggage on her, it’s not fair.

Sighing for the nth time, Minjun put the empty crystal bottles back on the table, the alcohol already getting into his brain as he couldn’t even walk straight and soon enough he landed on the bed with no care about ruining his suit. It was so not him to have a pity party like this but at least, just for tonight, he would allow it. “Tonight is supposedly to be the best night of my life. Heh… I should’ve known better.” The forced laugh that came out from him made him wince and immediately shut his eyes. Tomorrow might be better. Tomorrow… he shall face the consequences of his action. Tomorrow, he would deal with everything. Tonight, for the rest of the night, he just wanted to leave everything behind and shut himself out from every pain and ache he felt. From all the negative emotions that have been eating him alive.

But for tonight, the man named Jeon Minjun just wants to forget everything.
