Just another slow day for the law firm, Sumin was looking through all the files and discussing all the things she needed for the court day that was coming up in the next few days. She was sitting in the conference room with others who worked with her, they were discussing the case that was going to make them up to one of the best law firms in town. They even ordered drinks and food, so they won’t waste too much time and focus on the task at hand. They had been doing that since morning when Sumin noticed that the sun was shining through the windows in the office, they decided to take a small and short break so they could ease their minds. It was just then that she remembered that someone would be here to pay her a visit, even though she didn’t want to see that person, but she couldn’t say no since that person was her sister.
She still remembered when they were young as the two girls in the Bae family, getting along well even though they were 4 years apart. But everything changed when Sumin was in school studying for her exam when she got called to the principal’s office, she was nervous because she thought she did something wrong and that’s when she got the bad news that both of her parents were killed. Sumin dropped to the floor after hearing the news as she began sobbing while tears dripping from her eyes down to her cheeks, and all she thought was to rush home and check on everyone else. They agreed to let her go even though the exam was important, but nothing is more important than family.
Rushing home as she was met with police and someone she wishes she didn’t have to see situation like this, it was her older sister Joohyun. Seeing the older woman stood right in front of her made her angry especially knowing what her career was. Sumin rushed toward her as she was questioning her sister.” What happened, how did they die like this?” She pulled Joohyun by the collar of her shirt as she began yelling at her, all the emotions hit her like waves in the ocean that also gave her chills.
Still couldn’t believe that both of their parents passed away like this, she blamed everything on Joohyun.” This is all because of you, you cause this. Unnie!! I hate you; I don’t want to see you again!!! “ Sumin’s voice was trembling, she couldn’t hold back her tears from falling as she slowly sat on the ground while everyone around them looked on with curiosity; wondering what happened to this family. She wasn’t so sure exactly what happened there, all she could think of was this had to be related to her sister’s secret job.
Looking up at the sky as she wiped her tears away, took a deep and long breath before standing up as she walked away from everyone and the crime scene that was secured by the police. Sumin felt like a zombie because she just lost two of the most important people to her at once, she didn’t know what else she could do anymore. It was like she got life out of her; she couldn’t feel anything.
All of that happened when Sumin was in her last year of university as a law student, all the emotions that she felt back then she could still feel them right now. Sumin pulled herself together because she still needed to prepare for the court, she shouldn’t let what happened in the past affect her right now even though she had to face the person that she had seen for a few years. Walking back to the conference room as she sat back down on the chair, she continued to talk over all the details and information that was gathered by everyone.
Two more hours passed just like that, that’s what happened when everyone was so focused on work. She called it for the day as she ended the meeting, back to her office as she closed the door behind her before she lay down on the couch that was in the middle of the room. The young lawyer placed both of her hand under her head as a pillow as she rests a bit so she would have enough energy to face her sister, she was expecting a peaceful meeting because that hadn’t happened ever since their parents passed away all those years ago. That rest wasn’t long enough when she heard few knocks on the door to her office, it was her assistant outside to inform her that her sister Joohyun just arrived; she told to the other into the room, getting up from her couch as she walked back to her chair before sitting down. The woman that she hated for all these years was right in front of her, a scoff escapes her lips as she looked at her older sister.” So unnie, what brings you to my place? Is there something I can help you with?”
