for a split second there's a modicum of worry, a tiny voice that tells him he should keep the hybrid parts of himself hidden as hoseok's eyes slide upward, only to be drowned out by the dazzling brilliance of his smile, so bright and illuminating there isn't any room for fear or shadow of doubt. he nods slowly, mirroring hoseok's grin his dimple pressed into his cheeks when he lowers his head, pushes a soft lambs ear into his hoseok's eager palm.
of course, seok. always. always for you.
his slim fingers curl against the beta's wrist, face turned to kiss his wrist and inhale the scent of eucalyptus and fresh mind that blossomed there. he laughs, soft and airy, winding his free arm around hoseok's shoulders to keep him close, cradling him against his chest, his heart. his rightful place tucked behind his ribs.
home has always been where you are. but this--
he inhales, exhales shakily, his vision blurring around the edges, lashes wet.
this feels like a dream made real.

his eyes flick upwards by instinct, towards horns and ears he has the priviledge of seeing for the first time, the sight causing his smile to widen, brighten, impossibly so. his fingers itch with the urge to reach up, and he does so - though he stops short of touching, hovering over one dark, floppy ear, almost hyperfocused on the little distance still there.

the question is soft, breathless, even after the kisses are exchanged, even as the love of his life pulls him in closer. even now, it cannot be close enough, centimeters feeling like a chasm between them and so he bullies his way closer, towards the warm body that houses half of his soul, touching everywhere but the newly shown parts of his beloved, his home made human.

hoseok's enthusiasm, as infectious as ever has laughter spilling from his lips. he's no longer surprised when he's lifted into the air, swept up by the waves of his mate's joy and twirled as though weightless. instead, it feels as though his happiness is enough to make him burst entirely and then reform into something new. the feeling is so good he could cry, so good, his eyes turn to butter and a pair of dark sheep ears wiggle and horns spiralling out of dark locks.

he echoes softly, tugging hoseok closer to him with a heel hooked behind his toned thigh. he can barely feel the counter beneath him from how high his soul soars, the world within his grasp, his hands cupping hoseok's cheeks to pull him in, pressing endless kisses upon his lips, committing the moment to memory. the beginning of his forever.

the scent is what hits him first, more familar to him than his own one at this point, so achingly lovely the mere presence of it makes his tail wag with pure excitement; he's about to turn when warm arms wrap around him from behind, the other half of his soul once more at his side, yixing's presence painting his face with the brightest of grins - and even if the feeling of a warm breath against his neck is wonderful, he turns around in the hold, unable to help himself.

the words tumble out quick and slurred together with joy, the sweetest kind of happiness carried with the meaning of them. it's what pushes him to wrap his arms around yixing's waist and lift, laughter spilling from his lips as he spins them in their new kitchen until he's almost dizzy - and even then, not putting the other beta on his feet and settling him on the counter instead, just because he can, just because it is allowed.

he enters several hours later, after fighting off the last vestiges of sleep that cling to his body, wiggling through the door with a moving box under each arm. the apartment, though new, smelt lived in with the scent of cooking and the faint traces of mint and eucalyptus lingering in the air. it was like coming home, he thought, the smile catching him off guard with the dizzying realisation that this would now be his reality. the boxes were left abandoned by the door, eyes searching with a budding joy that was simmering just beneath the surface as he sought out his mate, faintly taking note of the apartment layout and location of the amenities. adoration surged and swelled in his chest as he wrapped his arms around hoseok's waist and saddled up to his back, nose pressed against his nape to inhale. "hi, sunbeam," he exhaled, joy in his voice and love in his arms. moving could be done later.

the brightest of grins is on his lips as he shoulders bis way into the apartment, bright and early, utterly delighted despite the hard task of leaving his beloved behind in the bed they spent their last night in; wide eyes take in the interior - neat, cozy, though not yet personalized, another surge of excitement bubbling up when he realises that this is it, thinks of the way this will soon be home, be theirs fully; humming to himself, he carries the paperbag into the kitchen first, wanting to start this off right. first, the small bluetooth box from his pocket, if only to pay him company with soft music. then, all he needs for a proper breakfast, rice soon enough bubbling away for congee and eggs frying, the warm scents of food mingling with his own one, for once stronger, as if trying to fill this place with it.
