@- ❛ ʀ ❜:jasper baudelaire。⁰³ “Yeah,” Henri nodded and smiled at Jasper. “I usually only do useful or gentle pranks nowadays.” Back then he had been good with not so nice pranks but now he just wanted to fill people’s lives with joy and that was what he was doing. Giving people as much joy as possible. He hummed softly. “I am just trying to help and seeing people’s surprised but happy faces is just nice.” He tilted his head a little bit and nodded then, listening to Jasper. He wondered if the other would want to be his friend but they would see. “I’ll just keep saying hello to you whenever I see that, though, please expect that,” he chuckled, hoping Jasper did not mind. Henri just enjoyed giving people attention, especially as he knew he was very good with zoning out and daydreaming and therefore accidentally ignoring or missing people’s attention they were giving him.
Ever since that day Henri kept his word. They often saw each other in the hallways and Henri always stopped by to say hello. He knew a lot of small talk, sometimes just asking the weirdest questions and wanting to know how the chocolate tasted and such. He somehow managed to get along pretty well with most people even though he had his head in the clouds most days. Today however he was pretty aware of his surroundings and he grinned brightly as he sat down next to Jasper, a free seat he was now occupying, and grinning brightly at him. “Hey there!” he said. They had gotten closer over the last few weeks, meeting from time to time or sometimes it was just Henri who decided to walk along and just talk to Jasper. “I got some chocolates. Would you like some?” he asked as he tilted his head. It was their evening meal and they surely had sweet things, however Henri had just wanted a reason to walk over to Jasper and start a conversation. He enjoyed talking to him.

@- ❛ ʜ ❜:henri knight。⁰⁴ "Useful? That's rather interesting." Jasper trailed near the end of his sentence as it made him ponder how pranks could be useful. It was a mildly intriguing concept he never considered, causing him to want to investigate the useful ways of pranks. "Have you ever helped someone through pranks?" he asked curiously as tilted his head to the side.
At the mention of his fellow housemate, Jasper shuddered again at the thought of the inevitable teasing, further appreciating his choice in the chocolates. "Right... Mael and the others would definitely have said something" he pursed his lips at the older male. "You know him better than I do so I will believe in you with that" he lets out a soft chuckle. Upon hearing the older male's offer for future meetings, Jasper could not help but feel content on the inside. He was not much of a talker nor was he good at making friends. This encounter with the older Hufflepuff was surely one Jasper would choose not to get into if he had the choice as his usual facade had been jeopardized. However, something better came out of it, allowing Jasper to see this encounter from a positive perspective. "My studies are not too bad, but I will keep that in mind for any 4th year questions I may have. Thanks. As for meeting up, I would like that very much."
@- ❛ ʀ ❜:jasper baudelaire。⁰³ “That is true,” Henri admitted and frowned. He knew that not everyone enjoyed such jokes and pranks but he also knew that some needed them. That it gave them something they were missing and Henri really enjoyed it. They were rarely harmful so that was good. But he totally understood Jasper’s point of few so he just left it at that. “Usually the pranks are useful,” he then added, letting him now that it always had a reason and a use which was, mostly, helpful to some. The last one he had done had been a spell on the history books and he knew at least one person it had helped – at least something.
“That is actually really good advice,” the older Hufflepuff said and nodded. Asking if his crush liked nice surprises or confessions was a good idea. Even if he might give his intentions away like this but this way he would at least know if it was good or bad. So that was good to know. A small chuckle then left his lips. “Right, you are a Ravenclaw, you have Maël in your common room at least, he would definitely bombard you with questions.” Henri knew him very well and he also knew how curious he was. He chuckled a bit. “So yeah, chocolate is a better choice. Even though they would look amazing on you.” He then looked surprised at Jasper, a little flattered at the other’s words. Now that had surprised him. “Well, I am pretty good in most classes so if you ever need help, let me know. Or like, if you want to hang out.” He showed the other a bright grin and kept the flowers to himself. He always liked flowers and he had put a spell on them so that if put back into water they would create new roots. He preferred them living.
@- ❛ ʜ ❜:henri knight。⁰⁴ At the thought of an individual running around pulling stunts like this as their way of introducing themselves, Jasper could not help but shudder a little. Imagining the surprise that would break anyone's calm demeanour was pure horror for him, though he could see how someone could also find enjoyment in these situations. Especially an individual who enjoyed surprises or the element of surprises. He let out a soft chuckle, though, as the image was still amusing regardless. "Yes, rather interesting, but not for everyone" he nodded to himself.
Jasper let out a soft hum as he listened intently at the other. "That would really depend on their preferences. If they enjoy surprises, they will really love this. It would be best if you can hear from them if they like this or not first, though I'm sure you know this" his lips curved into a small but awkward smile. He looked down at the box of chocolate and the bouquet in the other's hand, mentally agreeing it would be peculiar to bring a bouquet of flowers back to his dorm, in addition to it being a risk— the guys in his dorm would not let Jasper live it down that the stoic and reserved received flowers. "You're right, apology accepted. It would be strange walking back to the dorm with flowers...I'm glad I was able to help? I guess?" he chuckled softly, nodding his head at the other once again. Jasper politely took the box of chocolates from the other's hand: "It's a shame we're not in the same year. It would have been nice to see you around during classes."
@- ❛ ʀ ❜:juliet jesseau。⁰² she was so beautiful- river's breath hitched in his throat at the sight of his date and in an attempt to not lose a lung, he coughed slightly, donning a charming grin as he pushed himself off the wall to meet her halfway. "h- oh," the words died on his tongue, his grin rising at the corners of his mouth boyishly. "why, thank you miss jesseau. you look ravishing tonight." he chuckled, squaring his shoulders so she could fix his tie; he'd tried his best but there was nothing like her little fixing that made it better. "thank you. and these are for you. i hope you like them." he whispered, offering her the bouquet he'd gotten at the local florist quite painstakingly so. "now shall we?" he asked, brightening up and offering her his arm like a gentleman. from up close, he noticed how she was just a few smidges shorter than him but what stunned him more was the innocent plumpness of her face, reminding him of the fairies that his mother liked to invite home for tea back home. catching himself staring, he looked away, nodding towards the doors to the ball.
@- ❛ ʜ ❜:river ackley。⁰² habitually does her palms smooth down her dress, her gaze following just as a faint voice rings through her ears, nearly melodic. she raises her chin, ochre orbs meeting his own as he stands before her in his black attire and looking rather dashing with a smile that could keep her in awe. on the contrary to his earlier messages, he isn't just cute, but entirely handsome. "hi," she says, her own lips curling into a soft simper, almost shy. only now does her self consciousness catch up to her, wondering if she'd match up to par. "you clean up nice, mister ackley. but your tie—" naturally, she takes a step forward, deft digits gently tugging upon the loosely knotted tie to tighten it just the slightest, now allowing her eyes to trail back up to his visage. "there." she murmurs approvingly, retracting her hands.
@- ❛ ʀ ❜:juliet jesseau。⁰² he waited by the corridors, decked in his all black suit he had been forced to pack. river had called his father in an emergency situation to understand how to tie his tie, given how countless youtube videos had failed. hence he stood with his back pressed against the wall, hands filled with a bouquet of peach colored amaryllis and white roses he'd picked from the local florist. he'd wanted to ask what their meaning were but he thought it a better idea to ask his date herself. a chuckle slipped past his lip as he tore his gaze from the petals, corner of his mouth curved into a smile and was quick to spot her. raising his hand, he waved a shy hello. "hi."
@- ❛ ʜ ❜:river ackley。⁰² truthfully, she'd been hesitant on accepting his offer—only because she isn't too used to garnering the attention of another person, let alone a man. yet, perhaps tonight, she could take the rare chance to bask in such as she stills in the second floor corridor, pruned and readied for her night of the yule ball. with her arms crossing over her waist, she awaits for her supposed date and flickers her gaze around idly.
@- ❛ ʀ ❜:jasper baudelaire。⁰³ "It's fine," Henri said and shook his head, a gentle expression on his face. He had chosen a corridor barely anyone usually used, or at least the area around here. However clearly he had not been the only one walking these corridors recently so he should have been more careful or planned the confessing somewhere else. "It would be definitely a weird way to introduce myself. Imagine me running around and doing that to everyone I have yet not met?" He chuckled and shook his head, really not up for so much chaos. It would be fun, yes, but it would also be really exhausting and probably not the nicest way to confusde the people. Not that Henri did not do that on a regular basis, he loved pranks after all.
Surprise filled Henri as he heard the other's words, not having expected any kind of support or even answer so it was taking him out of the blue. "Oh?" he said and rubbed his neck shyly. "I just... don't know. I'm not sure if they would think it's a prank or so?" He huffed slightly. Because it really would not be a goddamn prank. He was head over heels for that person and it was just embarrassing because he knew he was full of issues but he also just wanted them to be happy, to make them happy. "I hope you are right," he hummed and then nodded, looking at the other. "Thank you for your kind words." He rubbed his neck shyly. "I mean, I will not confess to them today anyways so-" he held the chocolate out for Jasper. "Unless you'd like the flowers, of course." He chuckled, lifting up the bouquet of flowers however he was sure the chocolate was a lot better. "Take it as a uh... apology for accidentally getting you into this?"
@- ❛ ʜ ❜:henri knight。⁰⁴ Jasper continued to pat off the confetti and rose petals which clung onto his robes, but was taken aback when he spotted the other's aiding hand also dusting away the mess from the surprise. Not wanting to come off rude he stood still and allowed the other to finish. "T-thanks" he muttered softly though loud enough for the other to hear.
His eyes widened in shock at the other's comment, knowing that he had ruined a surprise for someone caused Jasper to feel uneasy. From an ordinary and harmless walk in the hall, who would have foreseen such a disaster that would have taken a turn for? "I'm sorry about the surprise. Though I agree it would have been a rather... peculiar way of introducing yourself" he felt his face tighten. His teeth gritted from the anxiety of having to speak to someone he had first encountered and to have to make small talk. Jasper just simply was unprepared for any of what has unfolded from this situation.
Admittedly, he was no master at confessions, and Jasper knew that no amount of reading or researching could provide him with the answer to this issue. This was something one can only know through experience and he recognized that. "I admit I am the wrong person to be answering anything regarding that topic..." he paused for a second to take a look at the surroundings before continuing: "but maybe they will like the surprise more than I did." The Ravenclaw blinked in confusion, his head tilting slightly to the side as he hummed softly at the other. "Even though you offer that perspective, this was a mere coincidence and I believe you should still go for the confession... Unless you believe the odds are not in your favour."
@- ❛ ʀ ❜:jasper baudelaire。⁰³ The confused stuttering was adorable and Henri felt a little less sorry for having his surprise confessing preparations ruined. And honestly, maybe it was better that way. He chuckled a bit upon seeing how overwhelmed the other was before he chirmed “It’s okay” before the man dusted off his robe, getting the petals and the confetti out of his clothes. Henri reached forward and took a few out of his hair too, chuckling lightly.
“Nice to meet you,” he then said and nodded a bit. “I’m Henri, fourth year,” he added and held out his hand in greetings. “I mean, yeah. It would have been awkward if I had suddenly confessed to you but this way it’s… funny.” He was making the best out of the situation, hurriedly texting his crush that they would meet later and a location so he would not come and see the mess Henri had made. “I am glad you take it with humour.” He had been worried the other would just bolt and he had scarred an innocent Ravenclaw by accident but this way they both seemed to be okay.
“I mean… kinda? But I was freaking so maybe it’s better this way.” There was a small blush on Henri’s cheeks and he rubbed his neck embarrassed. “Maybe this was a sign I should either not do it or do it differently.” He laughed slightly. “So I guess I should thank you.”
@- ❛ ʜ ❜:henri knight。⁰⁴ Jasper remained completely stunned from the ambush, his eyebrows furrowed and his mouth stayed ajar. He acknowledged the other's apology, but at the same time did not comprehend the meaning or purpose of the apology. He was mentally an absolute mess. As the seconds went by, he gradually regained his grasp of reality, causing him to slowly avert his attention towards the male who stood beside him. "You... I... did you...did I-" he incoherently stuttered, realizing a second too late what he was doing caused him to stop talking altogether.
"It's okay" he confidently announces knowing it made sense, unlike the previous jumble of gibberish he spewed out. "Okay Jas... take a deep breath... no need to embarrass yourself further" he thought to himself while doing as he instructed himself, grasping the opportunity to dust off any confetti and rose petals that clung onto his robes.
He looked at the Hufflepuff, identified by the colours of his uniform. Jasper recognized the other as a senior he had seen around the school and with his fellow Ravenclaw seniors yet, he had never made any formal introductions before. "I'm Jasper by the way...a third year. A rather amusing way to meet someone for the first time if I can say so myself" he let out a nervous chuckle which caused him to mentally cry as he noticed his usual calm composure had yet to be recovered from the incident. "Did I ruin something?"
@- ❛ ʀ ❜:jasper baudelaire。⁰³ It had taken Henri so much time to prepare everything and he was not even sure if it would work out. He had texted his crush earlier, hoping he would find some time to come over and meet with him here, as they had wanted to meet anyways but he had yet to get a text back. Maybe preparing anything like this had been stupid and he should have maybe not planned a whole as confessing to someone who probably was not even intrersted into him and yet here he was, chocolates in his hands and even some flowers and- oh .
It had not been well thought through, Henri had to admit. The moment his doubts took overhand someone walked right through the triggering spot. A shower of rose petals fell from the ceiling mixed with some glittering confetti that shimmered beautifully in the slight sunlight sneaking in through the windows. But all Henri could do was curse. No, that had not been his plan. The man right in front of him was definitely handsome but not the male he had wanted to confess too. And he did not look like he wanted to be confessed too.
"I am so sorry," Henri said, bouquet of flowers and chocolat in his hands as he rushed to the man standing in the rain of roses. He looked stunning, especially as some of the smaller confetti and the petals got stuck in his hair but it was still awkward.
@- ❛ ʜ ❜:henri knight。⁰⁴ The rays from the sun setting for the evening shone through the windows of the castle as Jasper headed towards the staircase for the second floor. He had completed his studying session in the library and should be heading back to his dorms for a break, but today felt a little different. Aside from sticking his nose into a book whenever he got the chance, Jasper enjoyed wandering the corridors and hallways of Hogwarts as long as he did not get into any form of trouble with the Prefects or Professors. As he entered the second-floor corridor, he slowed his pace and loosened his grip on the textbook he had been holding, admiring the quiet moment he had to himself.
Nearing the corner of the corridor, Jasper executed the turn in hopes of continuing his moment of solitude. However, it all came to a halt when his vision began to focus on mysterious confetti and rose petals falling from the ceiling. If there was a mirror in front of Jasper at that exact moment, he would be rather disappointed at the amount of shock that was expressed on his face. Jasper was an individual who took pride in his ability to maintain a calm demeanour whenever he was with others. He invested years crafting such ability to ensure his thoughts were unreadable, and his feelings remain a mystery to others. Yet, at that very moment with the mysterious shower of rose petals and confetti even he was surprised by how easy that facade can break. "W-what... huh?" was all he could stutter out from his lips before the corridor echoed from the sound of his textbook hitting the hard stone flooring.
@- ❛ ɢ ❜:woods scamander。⁰³ The text by the other Gryffindor had quite surprised him as he had hoped that Woods would still manage to get to Hogwarts on time, maybe even still catch the train but it seemed like he hadn’t. The prefect had managed to sneak from the Great Hall before the feast had started. After all, it was his responsibility for all Gryffindors to arrive on time and be included in the festivities of the first day back at school. He prayed that the moving stairs of the Grand Staircase didn’t have a mind of their own and would have him reach the corridor on the second floor quickly.
He managed it on time rushing to the window that Woods had mentioned. “There you are!” He exhaled those words in one breath, greeting the other wizard with a pat onto his shoulder. “I’m glad you made it even though you didn’t get onto the train. We have to hurry before the feast starts.” He went first leading the way through the corridor back to the stairs. “How was your vacation?”
[sorry that this is a bit lame, should they maybe end up somewhere where they shouldn’t with the moving stairs?]
@- ❛ ɢ ❜:alexander caelum。⁰⁴ The sun about to completely set gone when small dot of figure fled nearby Hogwarts tower. From distance, Woods still has huge backpack clutching tight whilst speeding his firebolt broomstick one solid hour from Hogsmeade. One hell tiring and long ride but he absolutely had to for the feast. If only the portals bricks didn't glitched, swearing to Marlins he would files complaint to the express maintenance. Was painful enough slamming onto solid bricks, was that cause he's already running late for the train or his ground exhaustion? He were getting few to last intense trials at Magpies field before school starts, after months prepared himself for nation cup trial which means so much on his side of story.
Expertly yet careful, the beater fishing out his phone to text his reliable guy. Reliable enough that the other line replied almost instantly, always such blessing being friends with Alex the great. Breaking few to many cautions in span less than 24 hour, its always prohibited texting while riding either in muggle or wizarding world. But he's on the age of breaking rules and verge of collapsing. All he wants a quick warm bath in the school bathroom. Dialing the prefect, "Alex! the second window from south."
