@- ❛ ʜ ❜:winifred rhee。⁰¹ Emilia couldn't help but giggle at Winifred's change in demeanor. "Oh, Winnie, of course you were only teasing! But it is still such a horrid thing for me to think about," she said with a shudder. Even though Emilia loves her Nan lots, she really hoped she didn't look like her when she grew older. It was something that she tried to avoid thinking about. Getting old. Old age terrified the girl, maybe that was why she almost refused to grow mentally, even if it were something that was done unconsciously.
Emilia blinked slowly at the other girl, for some odd reason her mind put the removal of the girl's robe with ness. And thus her cheeks flushed so deeply red and her eyes widened. "You came out of the lake in your knickers?!" She exclaimed in as hushed of a voice that she could possibly muster. "Winnie weren't you with others, why didn't they help you!?" She couldn't seem to remember that the other was still in her uniform, other than her robs. "Oh, of course I can come in with you. I don't think there'll be a peeping Tom but you know how some ladies in a rush can be! They have habit of just barging behind occupied curtains." With that, Emilia took her friend's hand and tugged her along to the dressing rooms, only stopping when they found an empty stall, pulling the curtain back with a swiftness. "Hmmm I don't know I'm very picky to be honest. But I like nice and silky clothing, but that's stuff my mam doesn't allow me to wear."
@- ❛ ɢ ❜:emilia seong。⁰¹ “sorry, i was only teasing,” she said sheepishly with an apologetic look on her face. “hmm, flowers seem to be the universal scent for grandmothers. mine always smelled like fresh peonies.” she couldn’t help but reminisce for a moment. perhaps that was one of the reasons why she loved flowers so much. their scent always reminded her of home.
the young hufflepuff cringed at the memory. it had taken three consecutive showers to get rid of the swampy smell from her hair and she felt like it still wasn’t enough. “i wouldn’t know, actually. i ended up abandoning my robes altogether when i wiggled out the giant squid’s grasp. i’m sure they’re at the bottom of the lake by now.” in retrospect, it was an unnecessary sacrifice since the creature ended up being friendly; however, she was not about to recover her now soggy robes. her eyebrows shot up in alarm at emilia’s next comment. “do you think there would be a peeping tom here?” she asked nervously. sadly, she wouldn’t be surprised if there was. just because they were in the magical world didn’t mean it was any safer. bad characters, unfortunately, existed everywhere. “um, if you don’t mind, could you come in with me? i could use an extra set of eyes to see if the robe will look okay on me or not. i’d also like to find some cute hairpins to match and make a complete outfit. what colors and materials do you fancy? i can keep an eye out for something that would suit you.”
@- ❛ ʜ ❜:winifred rhee。⁰¹ "No! Looking like my nana isn't very much a compliment. She's all old and saggy! She had my mam when she was old so she's not a very young granny and she has all this wrinkly skin. Though she doesn't smell like cats, instead she smells like flowers. I think it's her perfume?" Each item in the ship made Emilia’s nose scrunched in near disgust. Oh, witch's robes were quite ugly. The only nice ones were dress robes and, even then, they weren't quite her cup of tea.
The robes were significantly cheaper by the clearance than in the rest if the shop. If Emilia needed new ones, she may have bought them from the clearance wrack but instead, she decided to take a look at the accessories that were on sale. "I really hope the robes fit you! I can't even imagine how they must smell after the tumble you took in the lake." A small shudder could be see from the girl. If she had fallen into the clutches of the Giant Squid, she'd probably die. "It is rather odd, the robes here. I've never seen anyone in this day and age wearing them. But I think I may buy some hairpins and jewelry! All of these are quite cute. You should go try on your robes while I look! Unless you wanted me to come in with you and make sure nobody tries to go into your fitting room?" It was something her mam always did when Emilia was trying on clothes in stores. Always keeping watch of the entrance. Emilia didn't exactly know /why/ but she never thought to question her mother.
@- ❛ ɢ ❜:emilia seong。⁰¹ she nodded her head in agreement. “you make a very good point. nothing worse than a humid summer in thick, unbreathable robes.” she scrunched her nose, remembering how sweaty she got during the summer season, the humidity also causing her hair to frizz up like a poodle. “perhaps looking like your nana isn’t a bad thing. retro is coming back in style in the muggle world... though i can’t say the same about cat smells,” she joked as she checked out another price tag, the amount just as ridiculous as the others.
she perked up at the word ‘clearance’. being a child of penny-pinching immigrants, her mum always stressed the importance of a good deal. the lesson seemed to have stuck as she followed emilia to the rack with discounted clothing. looking at the price tags, she sighed in relief. “thank merlin, these prices are much more reasonable! good job of spotting this out, emi. i think i found the perfect robe.” she pulled out a robe that matched close to her original one though the inner lining was grey. nothing that a little colour changing charm couldn't fix. “now i just need to try it on. has anything caught your eye? the clothing here is rather eccentric, lack for a better word, but pretty as well.”
[] if you did i wouldn't blame you but thanks for your patience <3
@- ❛ ʜ ❜:winifred rhee。⁰¹ Ugh, that was an understatement. Robes were more than just unflattering, they made her look frumpy, almost like an old woman. And not only that, they were too hot in the summer and far too expensive! Half the time, her mam would end up making Emilia’s robes in order to try to make them as fit to the gryffindor's tastes as possible. "Fashionable or not, muggle clothing is so much more comfortable. It is so much better during the summer to be able to have the option to wear something much more freeing."
She shuttered at the sight of the price tags, giving a loud sigh. "I swear, I can find better things for cheaper in the muggle stores! I look like my Nana in these! The only thing preventing me from truly being like her is the fact that I don't smell of cats!" She grumbled in a rather excessive manner about how the Wizarding world has developed so much so why is it that they refuse to sell muggle clothes in these parts. "Oh, I think there's a clearance section over here," she said, gesturing for Winifred to follow her on over to another rack.
@- ❛ ɢ ❜:emilia seong。⁰¹ after the catastrophe of an event that was the black lake incident, winifred was in dire need of some new robes. while she enjoyed the act shopping, she was used to the looking-through-window variety. also shopping for witch’s clothing was completely out of her wheelhouse. luckily, she had emilia as a shopping buddy. despite meeting during the terrifying dementor attack, a friendship between the two first-years soon blossomed. she was looking forward to exploring hogsmeade with her friend.
winifred was perusing through some robes when emilia started sharing her sentiments about witch’s clothing. “yes, they are rather unflattering. i feel like i’m swimming in my robes. the only thing worse,” she whispered back, showing her a price tag. “is the price! look how expensive this is.” she put the tag down carefully and shrugged. “i suppose though my muggle clothes aren’t exactly the most fashionable. still, it’d be nice to have that option!” after sifting through the rack, she sighed. “shame, these robes are way over my budget. how’s it going for you, emilia?”
@- ❛ ʜ ❜:winifred rhee。⁰¹ After much planning to spend time with one another before their exams ensued, Emilia and Winifred had decided that Hogsmeade was the perfect place to go. Why not have fun before one had to stress themselves over their finals to the point they only complain about how much they're suffering? Hogsmeade was just the place to be before and after exams, allowing them to be able to have a drink at one of the taverns and venture around through the stores within the town.
The girls decided that their first order for business was to look at new robes at Gladrags Wizardwear. Both students had their own reasons for wanting to look around the shop, though Emilia's caused her to have to speak in a hushed voice when speaking of it. "Oh, I hate witch's clothing so much. Why /do/ we have to wear a robe as our attire? I just look like a large bag for the bin," she said in a whisper, leaning toward her friend to make sure she heard. "I wish we could just wear muggle's clothes to school, don't you?"
