instead of a set class schedule, university students of hogwarts will observe a typical university schedule, where they will be able to choose what time their classes are, and what classes they need to take according to their major.

we will not have a list of all of the classes students have to take. instead, there will be a system implemented where members (might be) expected to come up with a schedule and send it to the admins for approval. if we do have a list, it will be a general list of classes students may need to take for each major, just to give them an example. (ex: auror: advanced defence against the dark arts, "PT" (physical training), advanced curses & charms

students of a certain year (maybe 3rd year and up) will be able to choose their classes. 1st and 2nd year will have to fulfill prerequisites, just like college students do.

might have a preliminary release, where the new thread will be open for members to read and prepare for the new changes. this will give both admins and members flexibility and time to tweak some things if need be (though these changes are not drastic. yet)

entrance requirements. must be either:
- an old member of the first version of magicians
- admin approved
- friend recommended

i want to reiterate that this version will NOT be open for the public. it is not a place for people to join because they are interested in the concept. i want people to write. because this rp won't be regulated and will basically be a free-for-all, i want the members to be there with the intention to write and NOT hog a character. with that said, the requirements above sound prone for cliques. i do not want to create that environment, which is why it will NOT be friends only. there will be an application for people that are interested in joining, such as providing a semi-fleshed out background for their character.

- off-campus housing in hogsmeade (like apartments)
- option for commuting through floo powder/apparition to hogsmeade

**additional ideas: off-campus is only offered for year two and up? since most universities are like that.

ok got an idea: let students from the other magical schools from around the world be able to visit / attend??? would be an interesting character for people to be able to study abroad at Hogwarts; maybe for something even more lore heavy, magic works ever so slightly differently(like root words for spells; so in Durmstrang, they have some spells that are rooted in Icelandic / have a heavier emphasis on things like run magic )

an elaboration on the multi character rule: if we are allowing people that haven't already been in this rp, then the newbies have a one character limit until they earn it. but veteran members are allowed two or three if they think they can handle it.

some ideas i thought about while i was suffering in the shower:
- set timeline. for example: one month = 3 months. this way, we don't have to worry about where we are in the timeline. a more in depth explanation/tracker will be thought of later.
- move in couples allowed for obvious reasons.
- friends-only (?) i don't want it to be exclusive to people that were originally part of this version. i guess we should come up with some way that people can prove dedication for writing. i want to block out the people that will character hog just to have a character. "interest" probably isn't enough. i was hesitant to open another rp bc of activity so i want to make sure that people are just in because they want to write.
- 30 day activity obviously lmfao
- events every once in a while whenever everyone's up for it
- people are allowed to be whatever year they want to be
- prefects are still a thing. don't know if i'll give them official roles or anything since this will be a relaxed, kind of "open forum" style where everyone's just there to write and have fun
- people allowed 2 characters from the start if they already have a character here? still want to do points just to make sure no one's just hogging a character
- no real activity check except, "hey, you haven't posted anything in a while. you still good?"
- will definitely try to limit the amount of rooms for obvious reasons. might just do classes in one room and stuff. so it might look like a generic university rp on this site. but i also don't want that because this is magicians and we're special.
- for obvious reasons, original members in this thread will have dibs on reservations.
