@✵ huh yunjin⁻ᵗʳᵃᶦⁿᵉᵉ It was the finale, and Jiwon, although scribbling randomly from time to time, had been afraid of what they were to perform. She had formed a bond with the girls, and she wanted to do her best in writing a song they could all perform together. As soon as the last mission was announced, Jiwon had kept humming a tune she wanted to write for the group, and decided to head to the recording studio. With a little notebook and a cute cat-designed pen, she started to write down everything she could think of at that moment, deciding to fix it later on.
@◈ shin ryujin⁻ᵖʳᵒᵈᵘᶜᵉʳ "really? that's what you're going with? you called him oppa like it's nothing, but when it comes to me. it's all about keeping things professional? it's funny, because we weren't always so professional, aren't we?" he scoffed. "don't give me that workspace excuse. that's such a crap. you call me oppa before and now things has changed, suddenly I don't get the same treatment? is that what are you are trying to imply? you call him oppa like he matters to you. heh. you think I don't notice , you say you don't want to play favourites but by making this whole thing about professionalism, you're just distancing yourself from me, and why is that?"
he took a deep breath. "you're the one making it difficult. so yeah maybe I'm pissed. maybe it does bother me that you won't call me the same thing you call him." he is about to say something like he didn't want to be the idol for her, but halted his words. "forget it, keep things professional then. " without waiting for her reply, he stormed out of the recording room.
@☼ im changkyun ᴵ.ᴹ Her thumb and forefinger made their way to her temples, massaging them as she sighed softly, taking a few deep breaths to calm herself before turning to face him once again, a weak smile playing on her lips. “What’s wrong with calling him oppa? He’s older than me. We’re good acquaintances, friends even. Is there a reason I should call someone oppa? Unnie? I can’t bring myself to call you that because we’re at work. This is our workspace. You’re the idol, i’m the producer. I love my job, I don’t want to be misunderstood. Saying i’m playing favourites by calling you different from the rest of the idols and trainees. I’ve trained with most of you here in DSF, and at one point I called you oppa, didn’t I? But the power dynamics shifted.” She had no clue why she even explained her side. It’s not like she did something wrong, in fact, she hadn’t done anything for him to react in such a way, almost as if he was jealous. But no, Changkyun couldn’t have been jealous, why would he?
“Isn’t it me that should be telling you how to address the situation? Aren’t we friends? /You/ tell /me/ Kyun.” She started, pointing at him then to herself despite the calmness in her tone. It wasn’t that she was blind to the situation, some of her friends had with him, but she had always thought that it’s because she likes him. And still, she didn’t want to assume anything, he’s an idol, he has loads of fans, and she’s someone who works in the background, far from the spotlight. “Then why would you be pissed? Why /are/ you pissed? As friends, /make/ me understand. Tell me exactly what I need to do to please you.” Her last sentence, brimming with sarcasm before she bit her bottom lip. “I don’t think we’ll be able to finish the recording today.”
@◈ shin ryujin⁻ᵖʳᵒᵈᵘᶜᵉʳ changkyun's expression hardened as soon as the word "oppa" left her lips. his jaw clenched and a bitter laugh escaped him. "oppa?" he repeated that endearments again with sharp edge to his voice, clearly unamused at her endearments towards the said guy. "you're calling him oppa but I'm still 'sshi' to you huh? is that what am I to you, shin ryujin? some distant strangers?"
"you think I don't care, you think it doesn't bother me that you're going out with some guy who probably doesn't even know half of what you like ?" his tone was sarcastic , every words of his laced with bitterness. "of course that man will treated you well, maybe that's all it takes for you to think it's a big deal. but don't pretend like you don't know why I'm mad. you don't just go around saying 'we're just friend' and then pull this . sure you can tell yourself that's all we'll ever be as many times as you want. but don't expect me to stand around and pretend I'm okay with it when you're throwing his name in my face like it doesn't mean anything." he scoffed. "fine, if we're just friends , then stop acting like I have no right to be pissed."
@☼ im changkyun ᴵ.ᴹ Ryujin couldn’t help but scoff, running her fingers through her hair and laughing like what he said was the most ridiculous thing in the world. “Again, may I remind you that you have no say in what I do in my personal life. Yes, I could talk to you about personal things, but you have no say in it.” She pursed her lips inwards and took a deep breath. “Why should it be a big deal to you that someone asks me out? Wooji oppa is nice and he’s treated me well.” She voiced out, trying to convince herself more so than him, cause she knew how well Changkyun had treated her, but she was afraid she had only seen it through rose-tinted glasses because she likes him. It was unfair for Wooji, and it was selfish of her, but she knew his infatuation for her won’t lead to anything more than a few get-to-knows. “Because that’s exactly who we are to each other Kyun. We’re friends. Again and again, we’ll always be friends…” She took a sharp intake of breath before turning away from him as she muttered the last part, again, convincing herself. “And that’s all we’re ever going to be.”
@◈ shin ryujin⁻ᵖʳᵒᵈᵘᶜᵉʳ changkyun's jaw clenched at her words, "what does it matter to me?" he repeated, his voice a little higher than he intended. "it matters to me because you're sitting here acting like it's just nothing. like I'm supposed to sit back and watch while some guy waltzes in and asks you out like it's not a big deal. " his fist balled at his sides. "true, you're my friend, my producer. that's our relationship right. I'm not even your boyfriend and I ing know it. " he muttered. "but why does it feel like you're setting up walls each time we get close ? like you're so ready to remind me we're nothing more than that. "
@☼ im changkyun ᴵ.ᴹ “What does it matter to you? You’re not my dad. I’m single, he’s single.” Her words ran out before she could even stop herself. The way he looked at her as if she was lying infuriated her. Who does he think he is? “True, i’m your friend. I’m also you producer. That’s our relationship. But you have no right to question my decision on /my/ personal life. You’re not my boyfriend.” She said, as if she was setting a line. Why wouldn’t she? She knew he could do so much better. So many girls are lining up to have him, her among them, but she was all too ready to step down if he does find someone he has feelings for.
@◈ shin ryujin⁻ᵖʳᵒᵈᵘᶜᵉʳ changkyun bit his lower lip when ryujin gave him a questioning look. she was right—why should she have to explain herself to him when they weren’t even lovers? she wasn’t his. ryujin wasn’t his. he sighed, running a hand through his hair. “work, huh? what a good excuse to have a date of your own, shinryu.” his voice was laced with a mix of jealousy and bitterness, even though he knew he had no right to feel that way.
@☼ im changkyun ᴵ.ᴹ Ryujin couldn’t make out at first what Changkyun said but put two and two together when he came out of the booth, looking up at him from where she sat. She felt intimidated. Why was he acting this way? Her eyebrows furrowed as she stood up abruptly. “He was talking to me about work.” She started, crossing her arms as the way her eyebrows furrowed deepened. “Why am I explaining to you?”
@◈ shin ryujin⁻ᵖʳᵒᵈᵘᶜᵉʳ changkyun scoffed at the sight. he frowned over the interactions between the girl he's been crushing on with wooji. he couldn't hear what they were saying , but the way wooji smiled and ryujin's gentle response stirs something within him. "break." he muttered, not bothering to hide the sudden frustration in his voice. he walked over her, trying to act casual but the tension in his actions was obvious. "what does he want?" the thought of ryujin being interested in someone else had him in edge, even if he wouldn't admit it.
@☼ im changkyun ᴵ.ᴹ The way Changkyun rapped made her hum softly, nodding to the beat of the song as she followed the words written on paper. Hearing a little knock made Ryujin turn a bit to see who as at the door, pausing the song before she pressed a button, calling Changkyun's attention. "Take 5." She said softly then turned her attention to her co-producer, Wooji, nodding as he told her about some files they would need to which she responded curtly with a small smile. "Ah, Ryujin-ssi, before I forget, are you free later? Maybe we can have coffee?" She was surprised, but the first thing she did was look over at Changkyun who seemed to be glaring daggers at her, making her flinch before she turned her attention back. "I'll text you if i'm free." She said with a smile, bowing her head politely as the man nodded, heading out with a smile. A soft sight escaped her lips as she sat back down, leaning against the chair. "Sorry about Kyun- errr Changkyun-ssi, can we repeat that second rap?"
@◈ shin ryujin⁻ᵖʳᵒᵈᵘᶜᵉʳ changkyun takes a deep breathe before he mustered his courages to start out his rapping voices, focusing on his works right now and when he's about to be done with his parts , that same damn guy entered the room and talk to her about something before he left the room with smiles on his face. he looks over ryujin across the room with a glaring eyes, waiting for her cue so he can get out of there. it's suffocating.
@☼ im changkyun ᴵ.ᴹ “Alright then.” She hummed softly and watched as he made his way into the recording booth, pointing to the headphones inside before she clicked on a few buttons, making sure the sound could be heard throughout the other side. Ryujin then opened the file and grabbed her copy of the lyrics, along with her pen. “Okay, let’s try out the first part of the song, just to see which part would suit you more.” She said, as if she already didn’t know that, she just wanted to have some more time with him, despite the expression he mustered from what seemed like being in the same space as her. Did she even do something to him?
@◈ shin ryujin⁻ᵖʳᵒᵈᵘᶜᵉʳ with everything that just happened, and the way he's feeling so moody right now, is it even possible for him to record today? changkyun sighed. he reminded himself that, no matter what, they needed to stay professional. work is work. "i've practiced it. let's just get it done today then." he got up from the couch and walked into the recording booth. pulling out the lyrics and his pen, he stood there, waiting for ryujin's orders.
@☼ im changkyun ᴵ.ᴹ She didn't even notice him go inside, only until she heard his voice, making her pause her work and turning around in her swivel chair, seeing Changkyun in a bad mood. "Hello to you too... Changkyun-ssi." She greeted awkwardly and gave a professional smile, after all, he called him in for work. "Some of the other members had recorded their parts based on the schedule I had provided before. Have you practiced your parts or would you need some time to warm up before heading in the recording booth?"
@◈ shin ryujin⁻ᵖʳᵒᵈᵘᶜᵉʳ changkyun checked the notifications from ryujin and sighed. he stood up from his seat and made his way to the recording studio where ryujin was. the thought of seeing her with another guy earlier still pissed him off. it was obvious the guy had been looking at ryujin with heart eyes. how dare he. he entered the room without knocking and took a seat on the couch behind her. "what needs to be fixed?" he asked coldly.
@☼ im changkyun ᴵ.ᴹ She had messaged Changkyun for his recording schedule a while back and had given him another heads up, now all she needed to do was wait. Ryujin being Ryujin, she couldn’t sit still, and decided to edit and work on the different songs from both Janus and DIA while she waited for the said member.
@✵ jay park⁻ᵗʳᵃᶦⁿᵉᵉ Although she had been a producer for a few years now, Ryujin never thought she’d actually be teaching someone, let alone someone quite close to her in age. Starting off as a trainee the pursuing a degree related to music was something she didn’t think she’d do, yet here she was in the flesh, trying to think of a way that could help one of the trainees in a one-on-one session. Usually she would discuss lyrics, genres, instrumentals with friends or someone she had a common interest with. This time around, she felt pressured, what if she wasn’t good enough at explaining or showing the differences when producing.
Her mind was wracked with worry as she walked the halls of the building, body moving on its own, memorising every inch of the place -that floor specifically- after moving around and about countless times. If there’s one thing Ryujin was sure of though, she’s quite passionate. She had no question that the songs they can discuss would be beneficial one way or another in the company, but the teaching portion was something she wasn’t used to. Perhaps she could try to recommend, comment, follow up with everything they discuss during that given time, she managed to think, nodding to herself as she stood by the door of the recording studio they had agreed to meet in.
Her hand raised up to the door, giving it a little knock with her knuckles before she stepped in, seeing Jay already in place, hearing such a beautiful tune that made even the girl pause in her place. Her gaze was on him as the corners of her lips lifted up into a smile. As much as she didn’t want to disrupt his momentum in creating such a melody, she needed to. Clearing for a moment, already feeling bad with just that, she gave a sheepish smile, gently closing the door behind her. “Sorry for making you wait, I just got back from a recording. Did you wait too long?” She asked, setting her tote bag on the couch before grabbing another swivel chair for her to use.
Ssaem, let us go next. So, Seungjoo-... sunbae? anyway - he and I - worked on a cover of the song "On the Ground" by Somi, BUT reimagined as a band concept. I think it really does the song justice and showcases a multifaceted side of DSF production. And really shows how good the song could be in talented hands. Seungjoo worked on rearrangement, and production, and recording, and I... gave constructive feedback.
//nods confidently and plays the pre-recording/
It can be posted as a cover by Royal Flush, I believe - i can also give constructive criticism on the video aesthetic too, if needed!
@◈ park junhee⁻ᵖʳᵒᵈᵘᶜᵉʳ *a little saddened by Eunbi's rejection to work together, i decide to rip the band aid*
Let me go first, sir.
So, i worked on Jessica-sunbaenim's last released song - Lilac - and i added a rap to it, i hope you think it fits well.
[video https://youtu.be/GOpiKgVxEIk but i don't think it should be posted to the channel, since it's a stage? maybe after it's performed?]

So, guys! I can see that some of you have managed to get through it rather smoothly, others were struggling a little at first but overall, everyone seems to be doing rather well and looking happy with how it is working out. From the tidbits I've gotten to hear, they're sounding incredibly promising and I think you should be rather proud. As I mentioned at the start of the lesson, we'd take the last hour to give the songs a listen so that we can share opinions and tips with each other.
/with that he moves to connect the computer to the sound system before turning it on, continuing to speak as he prepares everything for the showcase of the songs/
I know we had limited time and I'm sure most people haven't managed to finish the whole thing, but that's alright, we'll listen to what you have so far and you can always finish it later on if you wish. No need to be shy, no one's here to judge you and we'll only be taking constructive criticism so watch your words. Anyone wanna start?
(sry for the masstag again and sry i disappeared, thank you for joining tho <3 and lets just wrap it up shortly now! no need for a fancy reply or anything if u dont wanna, just share the song you worked on so it can be added to the DSF channel ^^)
*it was embarrassing... but Hyunjin had fallen asleep in the back of the room where he'd set up. When he came to, sleeping eyes taking in the light chatter around them, he was as confused as ever*
*he latches on to the first familiar thing, finding Wooyoung, and dragging himself up with a yawn to sit next to him*
Hey, what did I miss?
*it takes everything Yuqi has in her to not start laughing nervously right back at Felix as he stutters through broken English. That had been her but a few months ago, so she couldn't blame him. The accent is thick on his syllables, and she hides her adoring grin behind two obvious hands, elbows coming to lean on the desk as she stretches across eagerly as far she can reach* You're so frickin' cute!
Oh my GOD! Yes, you can join us! *she's climbing over the desk, a sneaker sticking in the space between the back of the chair and the arm connecting it to the base. Her hands grip the desk for balance as she tugs at it, needing a few yanks before it comes tearing out and she flies over the desk*
*she's a mess of hair and limbs as she catches her balance at the last second to stand in front of Felix* Come, sit with us
*and she grabs his hand to pull him around the line of desks and to her girls, waving at them to shuffle into her seat so she can sit in Hwangbi's and have Felix sit next to her*
*all settled in, she pops her chin on her palm, and bats eyelashes at Felix* Tell me more about this song
*Jooyeon had been fumbling with a blue pen in his hands, dancing it around his knuckles, with the cap occasionally knocking the wooden desk and interrupting his string of thoughts. While his thoughts should be geared to the project he had spent the past week preparing since the announcement had been made for the class, his eyes kept darting to the back of Loren and Wooyoung's head, wondering what they discussed. He could just... Get up and sit with them. But his feet stayed cemented to the floor. C'mon Jooyeon, he tried again... Nope.*
*he simply stared, fixated and paralyzed*

Well, it's a song that was initially released by TOP-oppa, but its so beautiful that I've been obsessed with it, and i have been working on a way to make it fit for a female tone, which means a little bit of rearranging. I've had some challenges, and hope you could give a hand. The song is called "Flower Road", I don't know if you've heard the original, I can search it up if you want? And i recorded myself briefly, but it still has a long work to go. Here...
//plays the recording over the tablet i also brought, the sound not as clear as it would be in a studio, but hopefully enough to convey the vibe I'm looking for/
