@☼ hwang hyunjin one moment junkgook was waiting on one knee and the next there's a blur of a figure- hyunjins figure- taking the ring and tackling him on the floor. "oof, " a tsunami wave of relief washes all over him, his arms tightly wrapping themselves around hyunjin. they roll around on the floor in pure bliss until Jungkook is laying on top, gazing down on his now fiance. a warm nostalgic memory similar to this very moment. the night Hyunjin gave him the ruby ring that hangs around his neck every day since despite Hyunjin almost taking his eye out with a ing french fry; back then they joked about marriage- not even dating yet , and now here they are in their own apartment and now Jungkook is proposing for real.

" , we're really doing this," he says , voice soft. he's unsure what to describe what he's feeling. elation? completely in love? whole? Jungkook was never good at emotions , the only thing he's ever been sure of is the love he feels for this loud mouth, clumsy and most times sassy beautiful man beneath him. " I love you, " he repeats for the millionth time and he'll say it a million more. he leans down , lips parted as he captures hyunjins mouth once again in a passionate kiss.

"What are you doing?" he asked, reaching out automatically to pull him back but freezing mid-air when he saw his boyfriend fumbling through his pockets. He barely caught on to his words and when they finally registered, Jungkook was already on one knee before him, holding out a ring that screamed "them" and beckoned for his finger.

"What the are you doing?" he stuttered, eyes widening. "Seriously, what the are you- you motherfuc- you ing - beautiful piece of - - yes - yes of course you er." Hyunjin couldn't refrain from the influx of swear words, using them as a cover up for how he felt like he was going to hurl from how hard his heart hammered and his hands shook. He dropped to his knees, grabbing the ring from Jungkook to shove onto his ring finger and launching himself forward to tackle his boyfriend - no, his ing fiance - into an excited kiss, missing the mark on the first try as they rolled on the floor together in a tangle of limbs interspersed with Hyunjin's joyful laughter.

he steps back even further at hyunjins words , leaving his boyfriend in slight confusion. "your gift, the earrings had me thinking. everything that has happened; the tears, the anger, the rage, the regret- our future is always brighter than our past. I want my furture to always include you. and... your mom deserves to see walk down the aisle in this lifetime.. so , Hwang Hyunjin ..." he pauses briefly, hand fishing nervously in his pocket to reveal a small box, " I feel we only get on our knees for a vastly different reason," he jokes though he feels his throat constrict , lowering himself to one knee. " But , will you please do me the honor of making me Hwang-Jeon Jungkook an dbe with me forever. "

It wasn't like Hyunjin to be shy. He hadn't even felt this shy during their first kiss. But there was a vulnerability here that he hadn't felt before. So, when Jungkook snapped playfully, and the tension broke, he snapped forward to accept the embrace. Jungkook's kiss felt like the thaw of spring after a harsh, extended winter. He melted into the warmth and grasped desperately at the rays of sun emanating from his lover. When their lips broke, Hyunjin almost whined for more, but he recovered in the last moment, turning his head away to hide his flushed cheeks and running fingers through his hair.

"Yeah, well it's about ing time you thanked me," he muttered through flustered breaths. "Was beginning to wonder if the mail ing lost them or whatever... Bet you liked the shirt the most." He was straight babbling at this point, but he was sure that if he looked Jungkook in the eye he'd implode into a million butterflies. Ugh, he was so embarrassing. He mustered up enough courage to face Jungkook at last and struggled to maintain a stiff expression. "You gonna kiss me again or what?"

and just like that they fell back into familar territory. they weren't the most wholesome couple on the planet, they have truama out the ing . they annoy each other and bicker nonstop. it's always something. but somehow through all of that, Hyunjin helps him grow. he understands all of jungkooks faults and vice versa. Hyunjin completes him in a way he thought no one could. honestly, if Hyunjin could hear his thoughts right now he would definitely mock him.

" you better ing kiss me, I missed you. ," the insult is only said with the upmost affection; and Jungkook, impatient as his boyfriend, doesn't hesitate to steal a kiss from his lips. then another and another until he's practically smothering him with kisses. he does; however, pull back long enough to give a goofy lopsided grin. "thank you for the birthday gifts by the way, I loved every single one. and I promise you forever, Hwang Hyunjin."

Watching Jungkook extend his arm out to him was like a lifeline after drowning in a stormy sea for months. Hyunjin was surprised to find his eyes welling with tears. He bit the inside of his cheek until the area went numb, swallowed the lump in his throat while blinking his eyes rapidly, and linked his fingers into Jungkook's wiggling ones. "I promise," was all he said, smiling genuinely for the first time in forever.

He cleared his throat, swallowing again, and gave his hand a light squeeze. "I missed you," he murmured, tugging Jungkook forward and grabbing him by the hip with his free hand. "Can I... Can I kiss you?"

@☼ hwang hyunjin Jungkook had been doing his best, or so he thought, at earning hyunjins trust back. realistically, perhaps he was too ambitious and hopeful that all of hyunjins fears would go away. considering everything he had been through in life and surely what Jungkook did didn't help his recovering truama.

he shakes his head , lips pursed dismissively at hyunjins apology. he didn't need one. "It's okay. this .. whole thing never would've happened if I hadn't just left. I shouldn't have expected you to have gotten over something like that this fast. I just wanted things to be normal and while you fear me leaving I fear that we're never gonna be the same. That I ed up so bad that now everything else is a chain reaction." He heaves a breath , straightening his back as he stares up at his boyfriend. Maybe they won't ever be where they were before but..

"Maybe that's a good thing. different doesn't mean we aren't growing. we really got to communicate better huh?" he lets out an airy laugh though there wasn't much amusement behind it. he extends his arm out towards Hyunjin , fingers wiggling for him to take his hand, "lets make a promise to do better. to communicate /everything/ with each other even the bull you want to forget about . This world is already ty enough, I can't possibly keep going if you aren't by my side, Hyunj."

Except for when you left me and ripped a gaping hole in my chest where my heart was. How was he going to explain that to Jungkook without sounding like he was running a pity party? He swallowed down the sigh reflexively working up his throat and headed to the living room. As Jungkook had predicted, Hyunjin preferred to stand.

He was like a child scorned, with his fidgeting fingers and shuffling feet, waiting for his moment to speak. Why had he hidden it? Fear? Panic? Guilt? Remorse? Was there even a word to summarize everything he thought and felt; now and then? This time, Hyunjin actually sighed. "I don't know," he said. "I really don't... I just..." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "I don't know. I wanted to tell you at first. I was going to the first week you were back. But then I started thinking... And thinking... And drinking... And when I was thinking, you kept leaving. I mean, in the scenarios in my head. No matter how I spun it," and here Hyunjin actually began pacing in a small circle while gesticulating with his hands around his head, "in each scenario, you were disappointed in me, disgusted even, betrayed the most, and you left." He stopped pacing with his back to Jungkook and his shoulders sagged. "I should have had more confidence in you. In general. I know it was a coward's move."

Hyunjin rolled his shoulders back and turned to face Jungkook properly when he realized he was playing the fool again. "I'm sorry."

@☼ hwang hyunjin Hyunjin was nervous, rightfully so because Jungkook himself was beyond his normal state of anxiety. he didn't know where this conversation would lead but he needs more clarity especially if they were to never move past this. he offers a small smile hoping to at least appease hyunjins nerves a bit so he could properly give Jungkook the story he's been seeking answers to.

"we should probably sit then, or you will probably stand but I think I'm gonna need a seat," he pulls out a chair from their two seat dining table and with one flick of the wrist he turns it around to face the other fully. he plops down in the seat , hands clasped together between his legs. " Felix has already told the story , really. he vouched hard for you so I feel like I can believe him especially how dirty you did him. I won't sugarcoat it, we both know it was sleazy. But, I do want to know what you were thinking when he asked us to work with him. you had two weeks to tell me, Hyunjin and you avoided it. you didn't lie but it still feels so incredibly ing dishonest. I just want to be inside your head and try to understand your thoughts process."

Instead, he lowered the cup ramen to the narrow counter, fiddling with the lid even when it touched down. He wanted so badly to reach out and hug Jungkook. To wrap him in his arms and inhale his scent. Feel his body underneath him and be awake for it; to know it wasn't a dream. Hyunjin resisted that urge too, and pushed away the ramen.

"Right here, right now?" he laughed, though there was no humour in his voice. He kept his eyes downcast, feeling as apologetic as the first time this had all began. "What do... I mean, uh, where do you want me to... Um, what do you want to know? Where do I start?"

he all but snorts when the older hits his head on the cabinet. he gently shakes his head , taking all but two strides to get across the kitchen just to be closer. it had felt like ages since he had been in his lovers bubble. it felt eerily similar to when he had left. he hated it.

When he finally padded down the last few steps, he was face to face with Jungkook, who looked great, as usual, if a little sullen. The usual sparkle in Jungkook's eye was absent, and Hyunjin swallowed the lump of guilt that told him that was his fault. He fidgeted with his fingers through his sleeves, clearing his throat to disrupt the awkward silence that hung between them.

He took a cautious step forward, then another, and when he was close enough to touch Jungkook, Hyunjin paused. "Um, welcome home," he murmured. "Do you - can I - uh... How do..." He sighed, shutting his eyes and stepping backwards. "Come in. I'll make you something to eat. I think we have some ramen left." He shuffled to the kitchen, pulling the pantry door open to rummage inside on the sparse stash. As he pulled himself from the cupboard, he bonked his head on the door. A loud curse hissed from him, but he held the cup ramen in the air. "It's your favourite brand."

@☼ hwang hyunjin the text Jungkook had received was slightly ironic considering he was standing right outside their apartment door. he had been standing there for five whole minutes contemplating whether or not he should confront the issue in person or go back into avoiding it altogether , Hyunjin included. his heart hurt and yet yearned for Hyunjin all the same. after speaking with Felix, he had gained more perspective but it didn't make it any easier.

with a sigh, a fist clenched by his side, he enters the door code and pushes the door open. time to face it. he doesn't say anything as he enters and throws his keys on the side table while taking his hoes off. he could hear the patter of hyunjins feet getting closer until he comes into view. jungkooks throat tightens a bit, the house and Hyunjin had all looked the same.. though his eyes were more dull than usual and the usual calm atmosphere was tense. it was almost unbearable if he were honest.

"I'm home," is all he can muster up, raising and dropping his arms unceremoniously.

He'd forgotten how hard it was to hold conversations with his conscience. He'd been forced to face everything at face value. After attending an AA meeting nearly every night since taking this decision, he also began a journal. Though, it was more like a notebook filled with poems and half-finished songs that only he knew the melodies to. Every other page there was a stream of thought written out in his messy scrawl.

That night, Hyunjin was working on a poem, but the words weren't coming to him. There wasn't a right way to encapsulate the sensation he felt right then. Longing. Wanting while knowing he didn't deserve. His eyes flit to his phone again, and he sighed when the screen remained blank of notifications. Hyunjin swiped it open to the text stream with Jungkook, typing out a message and erasing it a half dozen times before hitting send.

well buckle up because it's not as interesting as people may think. i was traveling, just as i've been saying.
I guess I should start with the beginning and what made me take time off.
firstly, it had nothing to do with you. well.. not the majority. after the whole drug scandal, the disappointment and all of it was a lot. I knew my truth but everyone had this perception of me that I was some sort of party boy.. through all of that I guess I lost myself and I didn't know who I was.

I was angry all the time at myself, at everyone, at work.. I wasn't happy doing music and that was the biggest red flag for me. music is my lifeline, I dont care how ing stupid it sounds to some. so, i went to tiffany noona and she was graceful to me. she gave me time off. i asked her not to tell anyone until I left.. especially you. because I knew I wouldn't leave if you knew or called and messaged. I grabbed my parents and told them we were going on vacation for a couple months and boom. we took off to japan the very next day. I needed to be away.

Finally, they can drive at more than a snail's pace. The buildings begin to blur by his eyes, and Hyunjin relaxes into his seat for the first time since that morning.*
*the exhaustion of the hours long practice sinks into his bones. Were it not for the fact that their condo was literally five minutes away, he could have drifted off*
*instead, the van pulls to a sudden halt, and jolts him out of his half-slumber with a start*
Ah - *he jets out both hands, fingers gripping Jiho's head rest*
"We're here boys. It's straight in, you hear? /Ordering/ food." *To make a point, Jiho splits the curtain and points at Hyunjin, obviously not worried about the younger member* "Straight. Inside. Go." *He flicks his hand and Hyunjin rolls his eyes. His tongue may have stuck out, his eyes may have crossed, but Jiho couldn't catch him. His duffel follows in the cloud of dust from his speedy exit. As promised, he slips straight inside the entrance, bypassing the lingering people in the lobby, and going straight to the elevators. Jungkook would catch up. He was tired of waiting for him*
*but the elevator is at the top floor, and Hyunjin is stuck waiting anyway*
Ughhhhhh.... *he groans under his breath. His phone is his only escape, perusing through his delivery app for which restaurant to order from*
*what was that place Jungkook had loved so much...* *he starts searching for Jungkook in the lobby, the elevator creeping as slow as the traffic, spotting him not far off*

*he freezes. . . . Did he - he just called - oh -* I'm taking the stairs.
*despite his whole body screamign at him not to, Hyunjin abandons Jungkook for the second time, practically sprinting to the lesser used stair doors to begin the climb up. He's gasping and trembling in exhaustion by the time he makes it up, fumbling for his keys inside his bag.*

@☼ hwang hyunjin his out stretched arms fall limply by his side , nodding his head slowly at every word. he deserves it and hyunjin more than deserves to get it out of system. Jungkook takes a step back letting him pass by. it had all hurt so much and he knew this was how hyunjin would react. sober or drunk. he knew his ex… his ex lover all too well. still, that does nothing to waive the pain. it was a knife to the heart and he had twisted it. he himself had caused this mess. in due time he’d find a way to fix it but for now hyunjin wanted nothing to do with him and he had to respect that.

he whispers as he watches the drunken man stumble up the steps. he waits until he hears the bedroom door slam shut. he knows he should be in a rush to get out; however, there was a part of him that couldn’t fathom leaving the man he loves alone in this state. so, he does all he can do and take his time packing and struggling to keep his tears at bay. what should’ve taken ten minutes ended up being thirty. he just needed to make sure hyunjin was safe

he says once more, heaving himself up off the floor and suit case in hand. he couldn’t come back. not after this. he’ll get someone to retrieve the rest of his belongings throughout the week. he gets one foot past the threshold of the front door. he gives their once shared apartment another once over before softly closing the door with a ‘click’ and leaving the love of his life and all their shared memories again.

Hyunjin was destined to be alone. Jeonghan left. Jungkook left. His dad left. And his mom was about to leave him.*
Leave. Take your and get out again. *he kicks at one of the suitcases as he wades to the stairs, cursing when the hard cover hurts his toes more than anticipated* And YOU!
*he doesn't get far, making it only halfway up the stairs before his half-off sock trips him up. He lands on all fours with a thunk, cursing the stairs*
